    Hey guys,

My BB on the Focus may be on its way out, and since I bought this ISIS-compatible chainset, I was wondering if I could replace my current (MegaExo) BB with an ISIS BB and use the new chainset. Can anyone give me an idea of whether this might work?
  • Tis a very good back light that one Andy - I have it too as does CP if memory serves.

Soon to be seen @ a Morpeth near you...

    Say, this BB?

Which I could then ask my lbs to fit along with the chainset?

Also, would an ISIS BB be a major downgrade from a MegaExo one?

    Thanks again!

Don't see why it shouldn't fit provided you get the right size.

Am planning to fit the MegaExo on the 'crosser. Have you checked the BR reviews to see if they have one on the ISIS. Why do you need the LBS to fit it? Tools?

A helmet. A helmet that makes me look like a complete dork. For one sportiv. Grumble grumble...

And a TLD 1100 like the one at the top of this page. Blimey it's bright. Plus two front lights mounted a third in from each side of the bars, which add up even more lumens.

Nice that they came in at sale prices, even though that had actually ended a day or so earlier.

I thought this too and got a friend to fit my new chainset, couldn't beleive how easy it was, dont let the LBS take your money!! So long as you get access to the tools you'll be fine.

I had no end of trouble with a megaexo chainset/BB mind, was so good to get rid. Now got ultegraSL which is massive improvement.

Just bought some SRAM Pitstop Flakjacket brake cables for "silly smooth operation". I can't help but think they meant silky smooth. Yet to be installed.

Put £50 on a Boardman Team Carbon which I could be picking up as soon as Saturday 10th, and £50 on a Boardman Pro Carbon Race Prepared which I'll be picking up in the new year, gives me a chance to save up the £3,249 I still need to pay on it...

Now I've seen that crank bros BB and it sure is preetty but isn't having a pretty BB a bit like having a pretty intestine - rather pointless? :P
  • Aye caramba - the 520's have those heinously ugly (yet legal, yeah I know) mahoosive reflector jobbies on em.

If I wanted single sided spd's I'd have bought them...

Brave man, the race prepared is a real bargain, but I haven't got the bottle to buy one from halfords because I don't feel experienced enough.

    Both tasty bikes though.

Your book got quite a few bad reviews

Fair enough. Definitely a roadie book. The bad reviews seem to be cases of the book being pitched at a lower level than they expected/wanted. Was definitely useful when I was putting my planet-x together (my first complete road bike build since the late eighties - things had changed quite a lot in the interim)

Bought a couple of these tonight mainly cause of the bottle design.
