Man, bottom brackets and chainsets and stuff are complicated. I think I may have ordered a dud! Anyone here know whether an ISIS chainset will work on a Focus Cayo?

(it's all the fault of the Gossamer chainset on the same page. I have that at the moment, so I checked it was also ISIS, and it was. Only afterwards did I realise there was another, more familiar-looking, Gossamer chainset further down with "MegaExo" written by it...)

Blondie, I'd assume not - the Cayo came with an FSA chainset (no?) - with external BB cups. ISIS is an old style cartridge BB with splined shaft.

    Edit:
I think new MegaExo is compatible with Shimano external BBs, but I'm not sure. Old MegaExo is definitely not, the shaft is smaller. MegaExo confuses me. None of the above are compatible with Campag UT.
    /Edit

Speaking of which - crank and pedals just arrived for The Pig. It will be good to no longer have to deal with a) a bent crank arm and b) flat pedals!

Plus I'll have a mega 48T big ring. Whooo hooo!

Just ordered bar ends, as I seem to spend a large proportion of my commute resting on my fists on the bars (as if holding invisible bar ends if that makes sense!) went for these:

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=39030

also ordered a bell, as I use the bike for weekend jaunts along the coast, shouting "ding ding" just confuses people lol...

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=31846

and finally I ordered a blackburn mars rear light, as I need something that will mount on my rack, and the tesco seatpost light I have has snapped its mount point off - my fault for letting 2 year old play with it....

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=29544

All from Chain Reaction, and all for £21.98 including postage. I am a cheapskate!

I also bought a new seatpost last week, which arrived yesterday. Needed something longer than the 300mm one I had, so went 400mm. Again another cheap purchase:

For those that I was describing these as the comfiest mofo's in the world (in the morpeth) - they are. But having to keep washing the two pairs I have to cope with 5 days of cycling is a pita.

Alright... if they go below £300 and they still have stock, I'm having them. If they don't fit, I'll sell them on fleabay.

Can't be many cyclists in my area as Lidl still had some cycling stuff from weeks ago. Got myself a rainproof jacket (£10) and a bunch of running and trekking socks

Just got another Assos Gilet, my current grey one is now too big and looked a bit crap, so I got a nice new smaller black one.

Any of the smaller ladies on here looking to buy a cheap carbon bike?

  • This weekend paid a visit to my LBS for some spare innertubes, a Trek cycling computer (can't remeber the model number!), and a bottle cage all for my new bike. Then to Aldi for their great priced cycle clobber - got the base layer and jacket :)

Enjoyed riding my bike fully kitted up to work this morning!

Bought a 25 tube as a 28 is too big for the tyres and lucosade(!) yesterday.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • I just started a new job and get to do a bike-train-bike commute so I just got myself a new commuting steed Dahon Vitesse D7

Few bits and pieces of that cheap Aldi clothing for winter.

The small winter long sleeve jersey seems bigger than some of my medium jerseys though!
