It's been an expensive few weeks to be honest...

Fulcrum R3 wheelset from Jedi-Bikes.de - 330 euros delivered - smashing Merlin's £350+p&p quite comprehensively. Arrived very well packaged too - haven't had a chance to give them a proper blast yet - but initlal feeling is a vast improvement on the Mavic Ksyrium Equipes.

Alien Carbon seatpost - but too scared to fit it until I get a torque wrench - the weave matches the fake weave on my headset spacers too - which is an unexpected bonus!

Northwave Celsius winter boots - I've had the road versions a couple of years now (Fahrenheits I believe), and since I went to SPDs on the Pompino, and have an impending MTB on the way, it seemed silly not to. Did need to go a size up on my normal size though, and all my shoes are Northwave (just a heads up if anyone is looking at these - YMMV)

Exposure Joystick 2 Maxx - realised that when I go to watch the worlds in a couple of weeks I'll be riding back to the hostel for ~2 hours in the dark, and have no idea if the roads will be lit or not - was just enough of an excuse to justify it. Wanted as small as possible as it'll be fitted to the plush bike, plus I'll have more than enought to carry already!

Oh, and a Cateye Strada double wireless - because I could, and because I'd spent so much time on the "winter" bike this summer that I was pissed off constantly switching the wired model between bikes.

Have I missed anything? (Haven't actually bought the MTB yet, so that doesn't count!)

Oh wait - Lezyne Alloy Floor Drive Track Pump and Road Drive Hand pump, large.

Gave my old pumps to my Dad together with my old bike, which gave me to get the perfect excuse to get some shiny shiny mcshine-shine!

No sweeties or anything else in the box besides Ison and Halo catalogues other than some Halo stickers :(
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Right, this thread's dead to me for a while. Well, at least until the castelli winter range comes out. Speaking of which, I got a tweet from castelli regarding it earlier today...

I bought one for my mtb a few years ago, they are very good but they are also quite heavy and gave my bike a high centre of gravity causing a few stability problems so this year I bought a topeak 'normal' rack and they are much, much better, lighter and loaded up far more stable.

  • Hello...

    Well, my most recent purchases:

    Castelli knee warmers:

    castelli-7583-09-med.jpg

Smart 1/2 W LED (rear) - bloomin' bright that :-) remember to aim at drivers eyes.

    Smart-0-5-watt-LAM317R-med.jpg

a Carrera Subway 8 from eBay. Got it 2 days ago.... Seems the Nexus hub may be f*&ked though?!?! making horrendous noises :x I think it needs a full strip & regrease. My fave LBS knows little about them though.. will have to find some other local knowledge.

note to everyone & myself: never buy something and arrive at owners house when its dark (about 100 mile journey!) & you can't have a proper look  fingers crossed eh? Really don't want to drag my poor CR1 through another winter, it dunt like it!

They did but the rep was never seen again.

Shimano DX freewheel to replace the crappy item I've been running for the last 4 months which has been unable to cope with the power my little legs produce. There is no noise from the 'ratchet' mechanism and no knocking when I pedal which means I now ride in stealth mode  Got four Josie Dew books too, bit tenuous for bike gear but bike related.

Good choice although I suspect any noise you had was because your rear wheel wasn't straight and or your chain tension was too tight, well that what causing my knocking at least.

    I like it

New crankset for The Pig - £15 from CRC - thank you very much indeed. 48T big ring too - that will come in useful on Embankment for sure! Not sure if I should get Crank Bros Candys or MXRs - but I'll probably order those a little later today and soon my wonky crank and losing the pedal moments will be a thing of the past.

Roastie - looks like they've mixed up your order. There are three chainrings on that crankset...
