  • It's a speed/cadence sensor for the Edge 705. A horribly engineered bit of kit provides more reliable data than GPS alone.

Mine are in the LBS but I can't get there till saturday but will be doing the guards, tyres and tubes on sunday morning and hopefully testing the new kit out for a quick blast in the afternoon.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

    - SKS chromoplastic mudguards
    - Camelbak bottle
    - New schwalbe tyre to replace the rear one which came with the bike which seems to be about as good as a net curtain at resisting punctures.

I was looking at that (with the sports pack), but wasn't convinced that it would show up number plates effectively from a helmet mount, so will be interested in some example shots from you. The only examples I could find on YouTube were either DH mountain biking, or on car bumpers/dashes. I would also be interested in how rain-resistant it is.

If I had one I'd have to edit out the number of 'shoulder checks' I do when I pass someone worth a second look before showing my wife the footage

Tried it last night on my oh-so-windy trip home. It is incredibly small, about the size of my thumb.

Seems to work just fine but I need to play with the angle of the helmet mount because most of the footage turned out to be of tarmac . Will have a play over the weekend with getting it angled right and hopefully have some footage of Tuesday's ride in that has a bit more going on than 90 minutes of black stuff....

Woohoo, mine turned up and are now fitted! Time to take them out for a spin...

My new 'cross frame arrived yesterday:

    3888720353_56f4b7fb08.jpg

Might upgrade the forks next year, but will see how I get on with them. Fortunately, I have some Easton bars with yellow on them, so that will nicely match them outline on the decals.

Now have to go shopping to kit it out. :D Was going to switch some kit over from the commuter and use it to commute on as well as race, but not firmly decided on that one yet. Might buy a new groupset for the Scott next year or commuter and move the existing stuff down the chain. But that might not go down so well domestically, so will have a look round for cheapish kit too.

Cheers, WMC. :) I'm very chuffed with it. Only nine months old; been used for commuting only, no racing.

If I swap stuff over from the commuter, I'm very close to a complete bike - just need brakes, new cables and a 'cross-specific chainset (although this means I'll be spinning like a goon on the commute :o ). If I do this, I'll have money to buy wheels for racing. Decisions, decisions. Need to check out ebay.

Finally got my ass over to BLB to get a black machined deep v rim so i can build my front wheel to match the rear.

Now Carly has matching collar and cuffs :p (sig updated)

I'm getting quite good at this wheel building lark.... only took 2.5h

Looking forward to Monday on my new Kona Honky Tonk (replacing nicked Specialized Allez...) I was all undecided between this and a "proper" commuter like a Ridgeback till I rode it round a bit. And I love the idea of having a cheeky bit of Dura-Ace on it...

Fitted the cat eye velo 5 I just bought - what a load of shit. I didn't bother reading the product info as I was only after the most basic of functions, unfortunately this lacks one of the most fundamental, simple functions there is - it doesn't have a time elapsed function, despite having a clock on it and calculating speed and distance it can't tell you how long you're been riding what's the point of that
