  • Ace! I'm current;y deciding on a paint scheme for it. I can't decide whether I want polished lugs with gold detailing, or gold lugs with black detailing.

Hmmm; personally I'd go with the polished lugs with gold detailing - but i reccon either would look great.

Now then someone talk me into buying one of these http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/productde ... IBBFRAR905 and we're done.

well almost planet-x are selling full Dura Ace 7900 groupset for £999

I could have a full Dura carbon bike for £1500 plus wheels

It certainly looks lovely. However, how good is the carbon? It's something I've always wondered and, tbh, I haven't a chuffin' clue about the various grades of carbon and whether it's unidirectional etc.

ITB - the good lady said that I don't have enough space for another bike - she's absolutely right of course - but that if we had the space, she'd let me get one (knowing that there's no way I can fit a cross bike in the shed, but that's not going to stop me trying! Guess who's going to be clearing the shed soon...:D )

Yeah, I'm thinking the same. What do you reckon would be the best way to get the polished look. I'm thinking nickel plating or something similar, because polishing up the actual lugs may end up with a brushed effect due to how they're created...

Not really. The prices are so obscene you'll reel backwards in shock before you've had a chance to get your sweaty paws on any of the goods.

    I like my Camelbak bottle.

Not sure to be honest, never plated a lug myself - but let me know what you decide and how it turns out, might come in handy if i decide to take on a similar project myself.

Does beer count as bike gear? If so I've just bought a coiuple of pints for the fellow members of BSC

I pulled out of buying this. The seller was being rather impatient and actually relisted it after she emailed me (but before I replied!) asking for a deposit to hold the bike (which itself would be fair enough, but she didn't mention on her invoice...). Apart from, ahem, 'domestic issues' (of the 'why did you buy that, we haven't got room' kind- I'd MAKE room...but never mind), by the time I'd collected it, changed a few parts (me on standard chainset climbing Ditchling Beacon- er, no...)..I could get a very decent new bike. So I thought better of it.

Which was well timed as I've now got some enforced spending. My Jetstream's DualDrive hub gear has been playing up. Low range- fine. Overdrive (big chainring equivalent)- fine. 1:1 (when it's just being a hub)- broke. Went into an LBS. Instead of just a clean-up/service, it's apparently shot. After 18 months and less than 2k miles (not sure of exact mileage, but definitely less than that). £145 (plus fitting I assume). And I might not get it back for Friday, when I was planning to do another night ride on it. Grrrr....have already emailed SRAM's UK agent to (politely) vent. Not a happy bunny right now......

Alas your facts plus the huge amount of drool and man brain fug that occured after if clocked the Di2 in the window plus a couple of very V attractive fellow shoppers might just might have affected my judgement.

LiTs stop judging me I'm just a man

The bikes are in a temporary lockup behind a shop which sells light fittings a few doors down. Was a bit of a surreal experience leaving the applestore-esque main store, down the street, through another shop, out the back, across the warehouse, up the stairs to see where all the lovely bikes are.

The downstairs bit should be ready soon.
