That brings back some memories. My parents used to have a syphon. I wasn't really bothered about drinking it, I liked charging it though. Can you still get them? Very 70's. Yeah baby.

Definitely - look on the ebay! I use them because I like fizzy water, but soda stream gas cartridges are pricey.

You know Lit, you can buy bottles of carbonated water these days. I know, I know - how do they do it!

Have you got a super retro 70's bar area at home, stocked with single malts and beige loungers? :D

Buy bottled water for use at home? It's more expensive than milk/beer isn't it? Besides I find I can always taste the plastic from the bottle. Making your own from tap water would be the way to go.

I looked up Sodastream(tm) and they are now all about the healthiness of fizzy water.

I could never see the point of fizzy water. Pop, beer, yes. But water?

Could someone try fizzy milk please?

CO2 forms carbonic acid when dissolved. This would react with the milk and percipitate while solids out. yuck...

Cheaper to do it from (filtered) tap water - and I keep a stock of cartridges. Also, because of the CO2, it's cold. And it's nicer somehow.

And I wish - that would be quite cool, but there's no room for it in my teeny little cottage!

    Should I get this bike?

("assuming future advances in magnetic superconductivity", of course.)

Seriously, what's up (down) with the sloping saddle? Aggressive riding posture my ar$e. The project marks were given in the top left-hand corner

That wouldn't work, even with superconducting rims. You could still push the rim into the 'fork'. Stupid art students...

It would work. The rims would be ferromagnetic, the superconducting magnets would be in the "forks". If the forces from the eddy currents in the rims were sufficiently high, it would work.

The UCI will not allow it. They will insist on spokes.

they should do that instead of r-sys... at least without any spokes you wont get impaled...

They would be far safer in cross winds than all of these deep V wheels with bladed spokes as well. Another compelling reason why the UCI would find a way to ban them.

I bet that saddle is more than 45mm in front of the bb as well.

It appears to have joysticks on the handlebars. Although I liked this design revelation mentioned in the text:

    "Powered by cranking the pedals"

    Advanced stuff.

I've bought so much stuff over the last two weeks I'm afraid to list it all but needless to say there's a splash of matching Castelli kit and a smidgen of Dura Ace, I also have my eye or a couple of carbon beauties

Pay day on Friday if I can stay sober long enough I might an small online episode :D

Go PBK for sending me a bag full of gels & powders better than those tiny packets of sweets from wiggle

I was assuming the advancement would be that it would work in temperatures a little warmer than -135C.

Thinking about it more, if you had some big magnets it might work. Would be a bouncy, undamped ride though.

I'm fed up not being able to spin the pedals freely and shift gears/test brakes without bending over and hooking the saddle over my neck to get the back wheel off the ground.

ah but that would spoil the fun of going to RP on a windy day to watch nutters with diskwheels wibble and wobble around.

So I got some new mitts - black/white Gore Retro Tech II, very comfortable, look classy - may be a bit hot for summer is my only concern, but after trying on LITERALLY all the mitts in Condor - even the £70 campy 11 ones in black and gold (*retch*) - they were the only ones I liked. Well, there were a pair of Campy ones for £50 but a) that's too much and b) after all I've said about Campagnolo it would have been a bit hypocritical even for me :)

This means that I have my Castelli Rosso Corsa mitts for sale. They've been worn once - not washed as yet but obviously I can do so before sending them off (though they still smell brand new fwiw). They're a large, black/red, and were £30 new. £20 + p&p anyone?
