SPDs have arrived. I'll be fitting them tonight before going out for a ride. This ought to be interesting! :D:) :?

On a different note. I failed spectacularly at neatly applying my new bar tape last night. I can't work out how you fold the end bit inside and have it look half decent. also ritchey's locking end-caps are a pain.

Oh well, I'll know for next time.

    1 of dhb M1 Cycling Shoes 45 Black/Silver/Grey
1 of Ritchey Pro Road Bar Tape - Black
1 of Vittoria Road Inner Tube 700x19-23 Presta 42mm

copied straight from wiggle order confirmation.

I can see this new hobbie of mine is going to take it's toll on my wallet...

I'd like to add a small bag of haribo to the list of things I got from wiggle. I'm also damn impressed with their free delivery that supposedly takes 3-5 days but got here in 2! :D

i only had these sweets on my first two orders. Lots of money spent (some may say wasted) later and i got slighlty annoyed so i asked for some sweets and bottle opener, got no sweets but did get 4 bottle openers lol

Ladies & Gentlemen, I've finally taken delivery of :

    la_triestina_mirage_white.jpg

    :):):):):)

Now that I've got a road bike, does that mean I have to ride fast ?
Or should I take the gears off and fit BMX handlebars ?

    NICE!

Very nice indeed, in fact. You don't have to ride fast all the time, but you do need to watch your back.

If you use it for energy gels, bars etc. that looks good. It's in a good aero spot! Shame it's a bit tall, it's only usable if you have a whole bunch of girly spacers and your stem is on the wrong way (incidentally the pictured stem looks to have more than the normal 40mm stack too!). And you'd probably just put your lipstick in it.

I used one of those on the Etape, quite handy actually although I didn't really have enough spacers to fit it properly.

See, I think I might... I like the idea of it. Although I agree that the topeak one is not exactly a thing of beauty...

It might rub the back of your stem too, if you have a painted carbon one that might not be good.

A couple of Canterbury ionx wicking tops.

They're like those super tight rugby tops, only much thinner. Unlike me, as I now realise. They're very good (ie brutal) at showing where you have unnecessary curves.

I am about to go for a ride in my green bibshorts and Ionos helmet. Sorry Wiggle - I wronged you. (it DID say out of stock, and it MIGHT be a return, but it fits so I don't care).

    Green is good.

My GF has just put a deposit down on a Specialized Vita at Ed Bike Co-op (they're doing 15% off everything until the end of Monday, if anyone's interested). Now all I need to do is persuade her that ' pedal, pedal, pedal, freeeeeeeeeewheeeeeeeeeeeeel' is not the way to go.

She has told me that she wants a purple helmet to go with the paint scheme.  :lol: I haven't said anything to sully her innocence, but I plan to be there when she asks the shop assistant for one!

I also got a nice Lezyne pump to attach to my road bike, and am going back for a mini saddle bag and stuff today.

    la_triestina_mirage_white.jpg

and in spite of going sailing all weekend and thus not having been out on the new bike, I've still managed to find time to buy

You forgot: White bar tape, new matching SPD shoes, helmet, jerseys, socks etc. Bottle and cage. Drinks and powders etc. to put in it. Muc-off and assorted cleaning accessories. Lock. Lights. Pump for on bike. Track pump for at home. CO2 pump if you're lazy like me. Shorter ratio cassette for when you're faster. GPS. Heart monitor. I could go on.

I *knew* one of the bike snobs would pick up on that  However, I still like to be able to walk when I get off the bike, and they're double-sided so no (well, fewer) clipping in probs. And at £20 from Merlin Cycles they're probably the cheapest Shimano part I've bought all year !

I may, however, discretely tape over the rather obvious "Shimano" on the sides of them

Fireblade, that's a good pedal choice, and allows sensible, practical footwear which is more to the point.

Principe, I have MTB style Crank Bros Egg Beaters on my Cervelo... so there. :P

That's good to know, because I've just put those exact pedals on my roadie

Although, I'm not sure if I'd class my shoes as sensible though. They still sound like clogs when I walk
