Shimano CM-2000 action camera from ProBikeKit. 64.99, less 10% using code BRAND10, also 5% cashback from TBC.
Already have the CM-1000 and get on ok with it. Figure all my mounts are the same, so transfer between bikes, and if I don't sell the CM-1000 I can always use it as a rear racing camera for commuting. Not bad for £55.57....
Titus Silk Road Ti rigid 29er - Scott Solace 10 disc - Kinesis Crosslight Pro6 disc - Scott CR1 SL - Pinnacle Arkose X 650b - Pinnacle Arkose singlespeed - Specialized Singlecross...& an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 4 string...
  • Mavic Pro Exalith Ksyrium arrived. Very very nice indeed.

In two minds about the tyres, Yksion Pro Powerlink and Griplink. Bike will be for dry use only and they are very well reviewed on Sigma Sport. May leave them on.

Been using them since summer. Very happy with them.
  • Good man. They seem really nice and, of course, match. Which is obviously important.

Looks to be the case that the 'new' ones are good and the old ones a bit suspect. I'll stick with them I think. They might even stay on for the Marmotte.

Had no success with the CM1000 but this seems a good deal so took a punt on this. Cheers for sharing.

Finally pulled the trigger on a Sram Apex 1x chainset for my long awaited conversion of my Arkose singlespeed to 1x11. The last component needed after picking up a Sunrace 11-40t cassette, Apex 1x rear mech and s-500 11sp bar end shifter at various points during the past year. I'd bought the spare RD hanger and cable guides when i first got the bike, just in case I went down this route 8)

Deore 9 spd triple chainset from decathlon. And additional 300km on a temperamental, 10yr old Isis BB has not been kind on it
And a blue and coral buff. (That point you just think nothing matches, let's go for the biggest clash possible...)

  • The new GT grade (Womens - Tiagra) arrived on Saturday. My wife was a bit surprised to say the least, and half delighted, half pretty nervous.

I'd like to just say though that the (one) photo of it on the Wiggle site really doesn't do it any justice. Up close and in person it really is gorgeously painted and finished off. It's actually a very metallic grey which really catches the light. First ride yesterday round the common to get used to the gears and brakes took some getting used to and she is using flats / toeclips (no straps) to begin with. Her actual comment was "I'm not wearing those bloody stupid tap shoes you wear"... and that's paraphrased!

    *Pics please then!

I did pretty much the same for my missus back in 2006, bought myself a too big for me Felt F70 second hand, and then deceided I did not want to go out on my lonesome, so bought her a new Trek 1000 for £300 instead of the £500 it should have been - rang up my girlfriend, and told her I had a confession to make, which got her worried, and then told her I had bought her a bike :D
She was initially very annoyed, but when we went to pick it up, she fell it love with it, and the rest is history 8)

Oh and neither of us had clips to start with, and then we both started with SPD cleats, and are now on Look ones.

Since then, the Trek has been sold to a cousin, as I bought her a CR1 frame, wheels, groupset and finishing kit as an anniversary present, and then being a kind soul, I built it up for her!

Of the GT before anyone pipes up!

A new V-Sprint front wheel for my FXE as the old one (with a now-totally concave brake track) is spent; only £80 (miche hub, 30mm rims), so not really worth rebuilding (even if I had the truing stand I passed up in the sales). Original did 5,072 km (and counting, because its replacement has not yet arrived) mostly from September - March, so comes in at about 1.5p/km. Pleased with that, hence the repeat custom.
  • This week

Sportful no rain bibs (see what the hype is)
Rapha core l/s jersey (usually go armwarmers or jacket)
105 left shifter (broke one in a crash)
Deda zero 100 seatpost (old one broke and saddle clamp seized)
3x ultegra 11sp chains (cheap stock from p-x)

    Oh, and a Colnago C59

I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Two of these on Kickstarter (Orb bike light) assuming it gets funded - not due to land until next summer, but some extra lighting for next autumn and winter, oh and it works as a 600ml water bottle too.

Now we both ferry a small child around on a variety of bikes, I think a lot more about visibility than I used to, so one of these on each combined with a lumos helmet, 2 front lights, and 3 rears (Including a see sense) is about as good as I am going to get really.

Fair play - I've seen the guy most evenings recently on the northern side of Vauxhall Bridge trying to drum up some support for this. Shows commitment, if nothing else.

Ah fair enough - just stumbled upon it last night, might have been on the book of faces, I forget.
He's only 8.5K into a 20K target, with 16 days to go - no idea how long it has been live, so a fair chance it won't get funded I reckon.

Lezyne Control Drive co2 pump, plus a batch of inner tubes. It was time to restock. Wiggle pricematched the pump which CRC are currently doing for only £15.45, with cartridge. Has a sliphead connector so hopefully won't unscrew my threadless tubeless valves when out in the wilds...

Bought some bits in preparation for the arrival of my replacement frame from saracen.

A pair of TRP HyRds - couldn’t afford or justify full hydros will see how they go

Some wider guards - they’re giving me a Hack to replace the Tenet so it will take up to 42c tyres. I’ve bought some 45mm blumels with the hope I can squeeze something chunky in there too.

Some new MTB shoes on clearance - Diadora something or other, I’ve been meaning to replace my old spesh shoes for years (I’ve had them since 2009!) and they’ve always been a bit small. Plus the diadoras look cooler and have a boa, £65, sold.

Skint again now and I still need a new chain set and some decent 35c+ commuter tyres.
Any suggestions of what is puncture proof and fast? I was running Durano plus on the Tenet, so Marathons is the natural progression but I get the feeling they’re a fair bit slower.

If you want something like a marathon but cheap these are pretty good for the money:
    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lifeline-essent ... road-tyre/

Fast they ain't though. Stick to your Duranos if you want that.

Did you pay full retail for the HyRds? All i can say to that is Giant Conduct..... although it is quite a job to find it in stock (although seems like you can order the constituent parts from Giant direct).

    Or Hope V-Twin.

Not that I've used either, but if I was looking at new disc brakes these would be top of my list over any mechanical disc's.

How you getting on with the Giant Conduct btw?

I had bad experience using those - caliper seized which seems a common fault.

Utterly fed up of my TRP Spyre mind.

I paid a fair whack for the Hyrds - about £135, not much more than the conducts but easier to find.

Edit - £158 not £135, that was the price I could find the Acor branded JuinTech ones for. I decided against those because it didn't solve the constant adjustment issue, and I'd heard a few horror stories about seized calipers whilst out on the road.

The fact that the conducts appear to have been abandoned by Giant on their 2018 bikes didn't fill me with confidence either.

I liked the look of the VTwins but they're just too expensive. By the time I found some stock ones it wouldn't have been much more expensive to buy a 105 groupset.

I did look at the lifeline tyres, the amount of tread puts me off, my commute is 100% on road, just not always the best roads. I've heard good things about Hyper voyagers, but I'm not convinced by their puncture proofness. Maybe I'll just stick some Stans fluid in my tubes and run a lighter tyre.

Main issue with the Giant Conduct is lever throw (although I understand this is a problem with HyRds also).

I was naively hoping to use it with an old 9 speed ultegra group, but back then brakes were operated on much less cable pull.

When Shimano moved to concealed gear cables they made a fairly pronounced change to the amount of brake cable that the system pulled - with rim brakes you can bodge it (so old brakes with new levers - the brakes come on quickly but you need to squeeze really hard to brake hard - new brakes with old levers you have to run them really close to the rims otherwise you run out of lever travel) but with hydraulics they need to have the full range of travel.

I'm currently running it with a set of SRAM brake levers, which are actually somewhere in between old shimano and new shimano in the cable pull stakes - they feel nice, although the brakes don't really bite until very near the bars! I'm currently shopping for some second hand brifters....

Once i've got some compatible brifters on I'll give them a proper review. Initial feelings though are that for the money it's a proper quality setup, and much more weather and muck proof than anything involving cables going to the calipers.

I do wonder how the Hope system is set up, as it strike me that it'll always be an issue with this kind of system. The Giant is quite deliberately set up so that you can't pre load the piston with tension - you can only access the bolt to tighten the cable when it is at rest.
