Since they went into administration (and have been "bought"?) I'm not sure I'd risk sending anything back to "Vulpine" as I'm really not sure what your legal position would be.
I had thought they were honouring all returns? Mind you, it was only £5 and it is a nice cap (hence why I wasnt in rush to return). Would be nice in truly cold weather, and have begun to wear a cap most rides nowadays so seem to building up a bit of a collection.

In other news my £19.99 LG Sprint aero helmet arrived from Evans today. Excellent value at that price, light and perfect fit on my 54cm head (went for hi viz in s/m size). Much better fit (on me) than my old Carnac aero helmet 8)

It's a bit of as faff finding the right size for your sprocket and then getting the sprocket off the tool but it's much better than a chainwhip.

Bought some more base layers in the DFS sale, aka PlanetX. Looked at them on Tuesday at home on the PC but they only gave me a courier option but when doing the same order on my phone when in work yesterday I had the option of Royal Mail so went with RM.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Tempted to order it and return the box-fresh one, but can't really be bothered - stellar bargain though

Ha, thankyou L2R, I did see your bargain helmet, and it looks awesome, but I have an aero cover for both my Lazer Z1 and Helium, so can't really justify it!

FWIW, I would have rather paid the extra £10 for a brand new one with a box.

Really trying to be good, but the above, and a pair of those look blade pedals that L2R posted a while back, for the gf's Scott, all in for £68, couldn't resist

What you really wanted though, was to pay twice as much for this:

Shame they haven't reduced it to the same price as the red, black and white ones.

Well I've finally got my first n+1 :D Picked up my new Cannondale CAADX Tiagra this afternoon, and managed a quick 40 minute jaunt around to get used to it (including getting used to drop handlebars!)... so different to my old hybrid! :D

They are an absolute pig to get set up right and even worse to try and adjust at the side of the road after a puncture. Looks like your model maybe has thru-axles rather than the QR's which my 2016 model came with though, which would help ?

Why would you be adjusting your disc brakes after a puncture? And why will TA be any advantage? 7 years of mechanical disc brakes on QR axles, and I'm not understanding the issue...

MRS - have you never had it when you re-insert wheel the disc ins't centred? Meaning rubbing. Doesn't matter that the disc or caliper hasn't moved, must be the difference in skewer "pressure".

Happen's all the time with my Spyre's...and I assume that's what was alluded to above. Not a total pig mind, can usually centre it by taking off and re-fitting the wheel but much more faff than needs be.

This. I haven't used thru axles, but I'm led to believe this is one of the advantages - the wheel will return to a far more consistent position when removed and replaced.

I have Spyres too now and they are a lot simpler to adjust than the Promax. It was, without fail, p***ing with rain every time I had to change a tyre when I had the Promax, so perhaps an "absolute pig" was over-egging the pudding, but it's fair to say I don't miss them in the slightest.

Really like my caadx otherwise though Seajays and sure you will too.

No, I've never had that. Just put the wheel back and tighten the skewer - it has always been fine.

I do have thru axles on the other of my disc bikes (the Renegade) and I think that they're a pain in the butt and a waste of space.

I don't understand have come people's wheels aren't going back to the same place with QRs. They drop into a slot and you tighten the QR - simple as that. It's exactly the same on my MTB as it is my Volagi. It's hard to see what can go wrong.

I've had similar experiences with the Spyres on my Crosslight (QR's), but have noted that my Solace with TA's (and Shimano hydraulics) simply don't have the same alignment issues - straight in every time and havent needed to touch the calipers since I got the bike. My Spyres seem to need constant settling by comparison. Night and day difference in my limited experience. Of course, my Crosslight may well have misaligned dropouts or the rear triangle might be out of alignment (never been checked, but it was a heavily discounted frame when i bought it from PBK)

Yeah - I'd expect RD issues as well if the rear wheel is misaligned.

I can only assume that somehow the fit between the dropouts and the hub is very poor on these bikes.

That could be the case with my Planet X, but I was under the impression from on here it was a pretty common thing with mechanical disc brakes.

Not just Spyre's with me either, I've also had Juin Tech semi-hyd that were exactly the same.

Haven't had the issue with either of my mech disc brake bikes. The Boardman was fine and that's a pretty "cheap" bike.

I have both, a bike with mechanical (hayes) disc brakes (shimano hydraulics), and my renegade, I dont get rubbing on either when changing the tyres, fixing punctures, etc but the mechanical ones need a lot more adjusting as the pads wear.

Only issue I have with Juin Tech R1 or TRP HY:Rd and QR axles is when I swap wheels between bikes, a 30 second job with an allen key to centre the calliper. Wheels drop back in the same place every time.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

It does make me wonder if some of these calipers have some sort of inherent design issue - maybe pad retention or the "anti-chatter" springs that means that the pads move when the wheel is removed. But it doesn't seem likely.

I fit the wheel with the bike inverted, BTW, and let gravity help the wheel centre.
