sram apex chainset as a back up chainset as i now run a quarq power meter instead of a shimano based one

    ebay - £27.

    Bargain
  • Vulpine Signal Gilet and another set of their armwarmers turned up yesterday, ordered in their most recent sale. Can't complain at £30 for the lot and the gilet seems pretty well put together.

Set of Boardman MTB Pro pedals:
    http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-pa ... -pro-pedal

Amazingly enough they do weigh just 290g, saving 100 ish grams on the Shimano M520 and 50 or so on the M540. They're solid construction, there just seems to be a fair bit less of them.

Remains to be seen how quickly they fall apart, they do have a two year warranty so shouldn't be a concern. Anyway, £22.50 for a set with BC discount works for me!

Good deal; is that the bike shop by Broadmead?

Yes, head unit only and not explore model. Did a price match with athleteshop and a further 10% through BC membership which has paid for itself now with discounts in Cycle Republic locally and Halfords at Cribbs.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Fulcrum Racing fives. Replacing the set that have lasted me two filthy winters but now have rims that look like they've been sandblasted, can't be trued any more for greater than about a week and have a knacked freehub. Great wheels though - not sure about the 'racing' bit cos they're a bit lumpy, but very hardy and can get them for under 200 quid.
Fat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.

Was unaware the Caad also ran a 25.4mm seatpost - appreciate the reasoning on the Synapse, but assumed the Caad would be looking at a more conventional size.

I recently got some cheap @ £200ish Cosine wheels, but regretted it as I should've gone for another set of 5s. I have a pair which saw two winters of commuting, and are funnily enough now what I use for racing - I have done alright on them.

Set of Swissstop BXP Blue Brake pads for Shimano from halfrauds, £19.73 less 10% BC discount.

Been moaning to myself for about week about poor braking- turns out that's because there is very little left on the salmons I had previously. Whoops.
Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

1x short sleeve and 1x long sleeve Craft Extreme WS baselayers 25 quid each from Merlin. Couldn't decide between the two versions, as could see uses for both (LS under the new Potenza, SS under the same and many other jerseys including the San Remo summer speed suit). Really need to stop now....

if anyone is looking for brake pads give koolstops a try I rate them as good as swissstops and a fraction of the cost, I just bought a pair of campag wet & muddy (salmon) for £5 from spa cycles

Kool stop salmon are great i noticed a huge difference when I put them on, unfortunately in 3 months I have worn down my front brake pads by about two thirds already :?

yeah winter is brutal but the pinks work well in rain mud etc, i've just put the mixed pink / black on the front and normal black on the back, the new pink are for next year hopefully but with the UK weather you never know

Good price, can't see it though?

    Oh, you mean sjs cycles.

Shimano inserts are 8.99 still there, so Halfords BC discount + gift card disxount makes swissstops cheaper per pair.
