What was all the fuss about?

    WKmB0kx.jpg

that was easier than fitting conti gp 4000s II and easier than removing them, in fact!

So how am I meant to actually get the tyre up, I'm going at it vigorously with a track pump and all I'm getting is air coming out and sealant leaking everywhere
  • You need something to blatt the air in rapidly - a compressor or one of those pressure vessels that you pump up and then release quickly into the tyre.

    Like this -> https://www.cyclestore.co.uk/specialize ... r-ID_71778

You can of course McGyver one using a plastic pop bottle -> https://youtu.be/EtmatxJG_zg
  • Or this technique...

If sealant is coming out everywhere, you ignored my soapy water advice.

Don't put the sealant in until the tyre has seated. Use lots of soapy water to help seal the tyre so it seats cleanly. Then let the air out (the tyre will remain seated) and put sealant in through the valve stem (valve out)

Seating the tyres is the sweary bit the first time you try

Aha soapy water got it perfect
I did make the mistake of putting sealant in before seating though
It made a bit of a mess but I'm off to the pub now after all that hard work and I can clean it up tomorrow :)

There's something very familiar with all of that scene

To be fair, a lot of the instructions suggest putting sealant in first. They must smirk when they write those instructions

I wonder if they do that to increase sales of sealant </cynic>

^I don't worry about the opposite side as much, only the side going on. But will give that a go too.

Same when having to remove tyre to replace tube. I had a right faff on a few weeks ago getting tyre leavers in, then somehow "discovered" the knack and the 4+ punctures I've had since have been no issue.

Will see if it works with a new tyre tonight...

New Pro 4 Endurance went on in seconds last night without blisters and swearing unlike last time I fitted one on the same wheel.

Winstanleys let me down (!) on the tyres, so two sets (G-ones and some proper knobblies), plus a pair of rotors from Rose Bikes for the 650b wheel set. Wish the € rate was a little better, but still cheaper than the U.K.

BTW - if you tell Rose Bikes your birthday in the account settings you get a Birthday email with a ten euro voucher.

Ordered a small and a medium in the dhb as its easier to return the one that doesn't fit than have to make an entirely new order

I've not bought it yet but there's a 2yr old Canyon Aeroad with 11sp Di2 and Mavic Cosmic Carbone SLE's for ~£2k that I keep looking at.

Someone tell me it's a bad deal or I might just succumb

    The one on LFGSS?

    Nope, just my tum :?

But eating well, cutting out the cr@p, a smattering of running, and 6 weeks of trainerroad has knocked me back from 74kg, to a shade over 70.
67 is my target, maybe 65 or even 63 depending on how I feel when I get there. Looking to improve my watts/kg ratio!
