4 x 160mm front is brake mounts at 32p each and a Sora road mechinal disc brake

Not that I've used my BB5 but it looks crap and cheap, now all I need is a disc front wheel and the commuter set for 40mm tyres

Wearing the 235 now, and I like it so far.

There are a couple of downsides, it's bigger than my Pebble Time was, the alarm isn't anywhere near as good and the vibrate is weaker than I'm used to. But I think it looks better, and the HR monitoring seems pretty accurate so far (just in the background for now) I used my edge on the ride to work and the HR in the activity tracking matches nicely to the activity. I'm going to try the HR broadcasting at some point and maybe ditch the chest strap for the commute.

    Some stuff,

    A Morvelo Hoodie
    Some Muc-off bike cleaner
    a Cycology long sleeved t-shirt
A dhb buff to replace the Cycling Plus one I've had for a decade and I lost :(
Some Wiggle gels, try them, they are best I've had.
Some of those cheap Skratch fruit drops
A bottle cage for my daughter's new islabikes
and a brand new 26" Small Islabikes Beinn, with mudguards and propstand.
    2864.jpg

I also spent a few hours (at -3c!) yesterday packing the 20" Islabikes Beinn back in its box and back in the bike shed for when my 3 year old outgrows her Cnoc 16".

Bargain tactic Garmin Edge 20 from a Cash Generator £15. Was in a flash sale down from £65.
  • Giordana Silverline bibshorts from the Bike Room for £35, seemed rude not to.

Just ordered one of the worryingly cheap Merlin AXM Carbon Fibre frames they're knocking out for £100 (-5% or potentially more with current bank holiday discount)

    https://www.merlincycles.com/merlin-axm ... 98247.html

It seems the AXM was a top of the line Merckx frame around 2005. Why Merlin have a few of them in size tiny/giant (i'm the latter) to knock out for peanuts I don't know, hopefully some kind of factory firesale that they've benefited from, rather than some kind of knock off which will explode first time I ride it.

Main gotcha appears to be the seatpost size/clamp. The official frameset (which this appears identical to) takes a distinctly rare 29.4mm seatpost, which means fuck knows what seatpost clamp I might need to find - I'm crossing everything that a seatpost clamp will by some miracle come with it.

Fortunately the seatpost is covered, just dropped a fiver on one on ebay...

The official band on front derailleur size is 35mm, so I'm imagining 34.8mm will work. Bit less mission critical than the seatpost clamp.

I did read some mention of this frame taking a slightly unconventional (lengthened?) fork. Hoping for an easy build anyway.

True, I'd love to see someone stick to Garmin for putting out years of terrible buggy software problem is like many I have such an investment in Garmin now swapping to anything else would be very expensive

Probably one of the Felt Z85s from Merlin
The 51cm mens looks same geometry to the 47cm womens (ZW85) so have recommended it to a friend as a good first road bike for her. Full Tiagra (ok, Tektro calipers) for £500 seems a very decent price.
Unless there's something obvious I've overlooked.

You still need to take some care, but yes, it makes riding in winter safer :-)

Giro Synthe in blue & black which I ordered some time ago - so thanks whoever posted the sigma sport bargain link before Christmas! Seems like a nice helmet, quite snug though, so I'll be sticking with my Mojito when it's cold/wet enough to require a skull cap/peaked cap under my helmet.

Spaffed the rest of my xmas/birthday money on a load of lights.

Cateye Rapid X2 front and rear and an exposure link for on me 'ead. Trialled a cheap helmet light and felt better about riding in traffic so with £20 off the exposure and the coin cells dead in the cheap one thought I'd take the plunge.

Will be able to try the mount with my torch on my MTB too.

    Moon Shield X - Auto for £19.99.
Wanted a USB rechargeable backup light after one of my 2 aldi nebula's knock-off died.
    Job done.
Bonus is it's compatible with all the existing aldi mounts (or is that the aldi lights are all compatible with the moon mounts) I have, so will be able to use the same lights on both bikes with minimal fiddling.

I'd bite if it did navigation.

To be fair, it does turn by turn but you need to pay RideWithGPS a frankly excessive $50 a year for the privilege.

My Edge 200 works well enough for navigation without the extra ongoing expense. That or I put up with the glitchy routes on my 500....

Just fitted the Clarks M2's I got for Christmas in place of my cheap cable discs, light and work well, reliability TBC!

Princely sum of £34.99 off ebay, and have two discs and new bolts to sell on to recoup some of that!
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

Couple pairs endure multi tights from cycle surgery.
I'm sure their not ideal, but seem a reasonable if basic set of unpadded leggings for the colder days, as will wear them with 3/4 padded shorts underneath & a baggy MTB short on top.

Just seen that I could have got 3 pairs of padded winter tights form decathlon for this price. Hmm, do I cancel?
