I had a high speed encounter with some kerbing and wrote of a front rim after a short flight and rough landing. I was unable to find areplacement rim for the wheel (dont buy FSA wheels - spares are not carried) so I bought a set of Campag Zondas which will be given a ride on the weekend (if the temperatures stay below the high 30s (celcius that is)

I just laced my first ever wheel :D

36h 27 x 1 1/4" with a small flange hub, I have no desire to tension it or to ever try again

Conti Ultra Gators in 26x1.125 for the commute MTB. Very cheap - £16 - at Wiggle at the moment FWIW.

Tubes for the above and a Park Tools puncture & tyre lever kit.

A new star nut so I can fit the Orange F8 rigid forks to the commute MTB. I managed to resist the carbon fibre nuts, there didn't seem much point.

    ...and finally...

A BeOne Storm 1.0 2008 roadie! I really did buy it this time, it was too good a deal to miss and they are starting to sell out at CRC now. Had to take a guess at the size, but it should be OK. Delivery is early next week. Can't wait!

Unfortunately the freelance job that's paying for the bike is going to keep me too busy for the next few weeks to get out and enjoy it much, but it's a small price to pay :D

Nice looking bike, seen your link for it the other day and started to drool

Have promised myself a roadie for the summer, conditional on having got a job sooner rather than later, and having shown a commitment to cycling by clocking up 1000 miles (2009) by Easter

Be interesting how much time you save v the MTB, I think you'll save a lot on your return leg up the Antrim Road

Wheezy, give buying the Storm now a serious considering, if finances permit. All reports say it's a decent bike and, for me anyway, £500 for an almost full 105 gruppo (crankset is FSA) was too good an opportunity to pass up.

Especially since (1) I was going to buy a roadie anyway, (2) I was basically handed an extra curricular job that would pay for it many times over, (3) they're starting to sell out of them at CRC now so I doubt there'll be many left come the summer.

New Mavic Aksiums fitted, old wheels now on my XC project so I guess sort of new.

an apart from cables my tourer restoration project is complete, it's a Frankenstein's monster of old and new parts both Campy & Shimano :)

My new wheels arrived with half arsed rim tape installation and half picked off bar code on both rims and a slight scratch on one, QA & customer service are officially dead.

  • I have bought you all sunshine and warm cycling weather.

Well, I've just had my Schwalbe Marathon Winters arrive, which seems destined to guarantee no ice at all until next winter at the earliest.

And they would have been so handy over the past week :(

Livs - only two pink old-skool cycling jerseys in pink, as posted previously - nothing high viz sadly. But I did notice there's a short-sleeve version of the shocking pink top I bought (and so sexily modelled in the IOW) currently available on ebay:
