So now I own a cross bike; albeit singlespeed/fixed, does that mean I will be issued with my cape shortly??

I just spent £75 on a Thompson seat post.

Will be inserted somewhere nasty if the missus found out, and it's 400mm long!

Still, it's got quite a lot of grease on it which would help.

Shoes over the internet is probably the trickiest thing to get right - now that I know Northwave fit me, I feel confident to buy them online, but I had to get a pair to try on first.

I found that DHB size 47 exactly matches Specialized size 47 - or UK 10.5 in trainers.

    Profile Century Tri Bars.

Yes, I will be commuting with them on until Wednesday and yes, I will look a complete gimp. However I've got a triathlon a week on Sat and I'm trying to get the bike set up correctly, so I've got an excuse.

Well I went out and got a 46T Velosolo chainring for the Langster, can't be doing with 42T.

A couple of Smart Polaris II lamp brackets that can be adjusted from 25.4 - 31.8mm for the Fenix and Veho clone camera.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Be interested as to how you get on with the switch - am considering the same...you running 16T on the back or something else?

I've been running 44/16t around Brizzle and there are times that I'm spinning out but this is close to 30mph but need the spinny bit for the hills I've avoided.

Did you upgrade from 42/16? How different is it?

Am currently running 42/16 and can't decide whether to go up to 44 or 46? My knees won't cope with much more and having invested in a WI freewheel, I am loathe to switch that out.

The bike came to me dressed in 42/18t. Took it out for a spin the first night I got it in 16t and spun too much at 22mph. Upgreded to 44 when the funds allowed and found it much better but the hill climbing was never that good, poor rider I think  Like you I want a WI freewheel but can't justify the megabucks needed and I'm on my 2nd Shimano freewheel in a year which I don't think is too bad. Don't go for the cheap £10 freewheels as they last a week in my experience.

Very boring- computer batteries and a tub of Torq energy drink. Fancy a change from SIS.

Re: Langster. 42/16 right now. Methinks 44T may have been a cleverer option. Took the hybrid for a spin and that got a triple, 48/38/28 I think, so it dawned on me that 46T is two off the big chainring. But hey Liverpool is flat with very few hills. Wish me luck.

Does this count as bike gear?

    Got this the other day:

    caad9sm.jpg

Difficult to photo as that paint job sucks light up like a black hole.

I'd be out on it today but I'd promised myself I wouldn't take it out if it was raining or there was any signs of rain, so it's just sitting in the living room at the moment. Had a fantastic morning in RP on it yesterday though.

I've also made a rule that I won't use it to ride to work all the time, but that's going to be hard.

Trying to convince the missus it would look good up on the dining room wall but she's not having it.

I must say when I first got it out of the box I though it looked like a nice black bike, but if you look at the frame closer, the way it curves and tapers and the uniformity of the welds, it is a thing of subtle, understated beauty.

    God I love that bike

Ah the great dilema, you buy a beautiful bike but don't want to ride it so you can keep it good. Life's too short, ride the bike.

Several pairs of bolle safety specs, the slightly heavier version because I break glasses a lot. £5.95 a pair

Now that we're in that season that used to be called summer, I thought it might be nice to ride home in the evening without having to stare at the road for fear of swarms of black flies.

The arms pivot and the nose bridge is made of soft rubber, I'll report back there success in action

For those that might be interested they have a lightweight version

Yup, I think the black was the right choice in the end.

You're right, I guess if I just promise not to ride it in the rain.

What's more, it's cycle to work, so I can get another one in a year.

Got some Planet X model B's for my roadie for £50, seems a good deal considering the set has £15-£20 tyres and tubes :D

I've got the slightly older version of these, but the fancy ESP ones, and they are great.

Just fitted a new pair on micheling krylion carbon folders....

First impressions are that they are much easier to get on than the OE Spesh mondo flak jackets that came on my langster, also roll a lot quieter and somehow seem to give a smoother ride (at the same pressure), can't really tell if they are faster or grippier yet (or more PF proof) but so far I'm chuffed!

Fitted my 622-25 conti hardshell to my planet-x C rear wheel which has also just had a set of new bearings and been trued, lovely and smooth again.

Measuring the 25c tyre confirmed my suspicions it is in fact 24c which is remarkably close to the gatorskins 23c (23.6c)

Hopefully the tiny bit of extra rubber will smooth some of the bumpier commute sections.
