Why the hell is the dudes belt buckle not straight on.

Now all you need to do is get a job in Graphic Design and move to Shoreditch.

pretty obvious if you ask me... you put a big buckle on and go for a cycle ... it'll start hollowing out your gut

move it to one side and your trousers stay up while your belly remains blemish free

    MTFU.

Very popular look with army stable belts for much the same reason, riding on horse back with a masshoof buckle sticking you in the gut is most unpleasant.

Ribble winter frame, forks & headset most likely going to be to big for me as all they had left were the 56cm which is my normal size however ribble frame are on the larger side.

    £120 posted 8)

Now to put the old steel hack back up for sale.

    Nice.

I've just been handed down a Ribble winter frame, forks , headset, stem, bars and some wheels, going to build it up as a single speed. Reckon I can get all the additional bits for about £100 - just put some bids in on old 105 brakes and levers on ebay, still need to sort out a crank and BB, and also a Campagnolo fitting single speed kit and tensioner.

Shimano M-540 pedals; should be interesting on the SCR home tonight, as I'm a virgin with cleats but practising at lunchtime they seem easier to get out of than the toestraps I've used for the last 20 years

    Damn you all.
Now I'm seriously tempted (again) to give the ribble clearance frame a go.
After all, I have a spare crankset and its BB.
    A rear derailleur.
A pair of wheels on the gf's bike that could use upgrading.
So in total I'm looking at what, 300£ for a full build?!

EDIT: Forget it, i HAVE to wait. Calculated it would be somewhere between 350 and 400.
Stupid shifters! No point, July and its C2W will be here soon

Lol snigger, yeah I bought a 705 to sit on my Trainer bike. Of ocurse it goes on the road bikes when I am not inside on the turbo, its just I bought mounts for the Turbo trainer to get decent speed, HR and cadence whilst training. In fact the spd pedals and the garmin cadence/speed sensor combined are worth more than the bike! Plus the 705 lets me archive the data from the session.

Aye, I guessed that might be the case, but the idea of a GPS-equipped turbo trainer bike is just too delightfully absurd for me not to be facetious ;). Out of interest, are the Garmin (ANT?)-compatible sensors and mount cheaper than an ordinary bike computer with a download-to-PC function (if such a bike computer exists)?

I understand there are trainers with electronic speed data hookups for a PC so you can log data, but I think they're stupid expensive...

Off hand I think the speed and cadence sensor (combined unit all in one thingy) was about £35 quid. I am sure that for that money you can buy a computer that will do session logging for you. The advantage for me is all my sessions are viewable on garmin connect alongside ride data so I can see if the turbo sessions are having an effect (they are). Except like last night I was so chuffed i got the suffest downard spiral on my htc hero I forgot to start the timer for the session.

Oh I also forgot to mention from the amazing cheap D Pressman website I bought myself these for my birthday a week last monday and I can report that they are the dogs danglies.

    These.

The leather upper is both comfortable and breaths well. If it had a standard sole they'd be great everyday shoes or trainers. That said they're light, the straps keep everything tight, especially around the ankle. The carbon sole keeps it stiff, stiff, stiff and therefore is a great long ride (Summertime) road shoe.

    Good fitting too.

A new chain and cassette after the old one snapped on the way in to work yesterday and then again on the way home in a different place. Outer plates just went both times.
To be fair it was still the original chain so 15 months and about 5500 miles isn't bad, maybe I should have changed it before now

What's the secret to Wiggle's Haribo?

    Spent >£100, no Haribo.

    Spent £15, got Haribo.

I may have to make several test purchases to figure it out.

Nothing to do with just wanting to buy more bike stuff mind you.

I was so set on an EPS until I spoke to Simon @ Colin Lewis and discussed riding styles and bike fit. We came down to something by Orbea (which was nice) the RS and the R3. The RS is nice but I like the look of the R3 so much more. Just wish it hand internal cable routing like the S2.

Very nice, Lake shoes are amazing quality in my experience, have been commuting in mine for 4 years - they have a lifetime guarantee! Wouldn't mind a pair of those for the roadie, where did you pick them up?

Well it wasn't easy as I have been such a fan of the EPS for so long, but it came down to a very sensible coversation about me enjoying sprints (even though I is crap at them) and wanting something with a bit of go about it.

Don't get me wrong I would adore an EPS but would I be doing it justice? Probably not, even the R3 is way too much bike for me, but it is so comfortable (winner of a Paris Roubaix so it must soak up some bumps) and I love that bottom bracket area.

Plus I have heard all the stories regarding Cervelo's breaking and they don't come with a lifetime warranty do they now? On the other hand when they have broken people have been getting replacements without any hassle. Which has to be a positive.

BUT there is also the S2 which is another beautiful bike.

The original forks for my Cervelo were recalled some time ago, but I've had no other problems - it is incredible to ride, and so nimble particularly uphill!
