Just pulled the trigger on some Rapha (despite prior reservations re cost!), decided against replacing my lovely Castelli Mannaggia as I'm hoping the weather is on the warm, so instead I've gone for a pair of Fixed shorts and the Stowaway jacket, both in black.

    Quick question:

Should Brun splurge two hundred fat ones on a pair of Ultegra 6700 shiters, simply for the sake of discrete cabling and carbon levers?

    Sod it.

Wiggle wouldn't give me their discount retrospectively so I've had to buy more stuff.

That bag of cable ends should keep you going for a while.

You do know you're supposed to crimp them on with pliers or something, right?

Yep. But last time I did the gear cable, I didn't realise I was out of cable ends and it's frayed to buggery already.

That's undeniably good value. I bought a bag of six for £1.50, five times more expensive :(

Surprised me too. Shame, most of their other stuff was decently priced. Wasn't strictly speaking a "local" bike shop, in Chester, so what I save on the bike goodies, I pay on the train. Some stuff though I'd rather try before I buy.
