oh yeah
heading down the Jamicia Way this morning an older lady a little rotund perhaps decides to cross on red with myself and two other cyclists heading towards her fairly quickly; she attempts a jog stumbles a couple of steps and then *timber* she face-plants just before the pavement... I asked if she was ok as I went past with a straight face

Kurako wrote:Queenstown Road is my quickest road home these days and since I always seem to end up working later than I'd like I'm stuck with it for speed. Normally there's not much in the way of a challenge by the time I'm going along so imagine my surprise when I saw not one but two quick roadies. They were just ahead of me approaching the s-bend at QTR station, was slowly catching up and then they turned off up to Clapham Old Town. Pah!
Looking at the map though I realise that's probably a much better way to get to the A24 (ahem, CS7) than going all the way up the hill and negotiating the silly one way bit round the Quadrant. New route for tomorrow. Yay!
Might bump into you soon, as I go that route - nice little sprint up Silverthorne Road, over Wandsworth Road (lights permitting) and up to the Common.
Had a bit of fun last night: a roadie in mostly black with white flashes on the side of his shorts went past in the traffic between PS and LBR, so I set off after him. We got separated a bit at LBR, but met up again at VB lights. On the green, he was already half way across the junction so I had to give it full beans to catch up. As we rounded the right-hander, I was just about hanging on (without drafting of course), but by then he had picked up a tow from a scooter. This helped him widen the gap so that he was maybe 30-40 metres ahead by the Shell garage. I was starting to think I had lost any chance, but either the scooter upped the pace or he backed off, and without the draft, I started to reel him in, then pass him to reach the red before the railway bridge first. A last manic sprint once the lights changed, and I make it to CB with my scalp restored.
These DSC sprints do seem to be gradually getting easier, or rather I'm finding myself at CB with a bit more left to keep the pace up over the bridge to QTR.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

Wheeeeee. Loving the colder weather has to be said. Still ended up with sweaty back in just ss jersey and lycra shorts. Finger tips might have been a little tingly so when the cold snap hits mid week might need the long finger gloves.
Everything fell in front of the monkey power this morning. Sleepy roadies got a rude awakening. 2 weeks till clocks change though...

Back on the Scott today as I'm doing the FNRttC (see thread) on it on Friday and I thought I had better make sure it still works as I have not used it since rolling into Perpignan on Sept 11th.
1) Riding with a freewheel is really weird after 6 weeks of fixed gear, hard to explain but if you've done it you'll understand.
2) Much as I love the FG even with a stinking cold this morning I was still significantly quicker on the Scott.
3) There was no temptation to try silly trackstands so no stupid falls this morning!0 -

This week or next depending on the schools, i think, but yes relatively quiet this morning.
Still managed a good duel up the Mall and Constitution Hill with a Scott Addict though, but lost him in traffic round HPC.0
