Lovely morning, but a bit of a had breeze. Power-pootling up to CB, I decided to save something for fighting the wind along the Embankment, which turned out to be a good idea. Nobody of note until near VB lights, when a red carbon PX (posh Mavic wheels + SRAM Red, and PX kit) passes in the wind down to the lights. As he pulls away from the green a little slowly, I seize my chance and spin up to just over 30mph on the slight down slope, but as I round the bend, the numbers start tumbling as I hit the Millbank Tower downdraught. Luckily, the same thing happens to Mr PX, and I manage to hang on until LBR. Trailed him up to PS, but then got separated by a bendy bus (are they still here?) clogging up the roundabout.

Chased a guy in dhb shorts and a blue an white jersey on a silver-framed roadie along Viccy Embankment, but got split by some lights due to a dwadler blocking the Horseguards bike lane, so only just caught up before he turned off at Blackfriars.

Were you wearing a Red/Black LS DHB Jersy/Jacket? Black Gore leggings?

Aha! A belated good morning then! :) That was me on the PX. Was fun trying (in vain) to chase you down along Millbank. Its a shame PS traffic stopped play.

What were you riding btw? Didn't get a good look, but looked interesting.

PF this morning so running late, everyone pootling. RLJing red Spesh looked like he might be quick but wasn't, only kitted out roadie was in stationary traffic around LBG.

New Racing 3 wheels at the weekend which make the dry commuter a lot blinger, seem a good 15 mph faster (although it’s probably nearer 1 or 2) and how am I getting in for the next 4 days? Train. Friday will be all the sweeter.

Took 1.75 hrs this morning instead of an hour on the bike FFS. :(
  • I ...erm... caused a car accident this morning.

Coming though Musselburgh, I spot a young lady in her car, waiting to pull into the road I was going along. She caught sight of me, and was transfixed by the awesome spectacle. She started to pull out, mouth agog and completely failed to see the car that was coming the other way.

Luckily nobody was hurt, otherwise I'd be considering wearing baggies from now on.

It's a mid 90s steel-framedGiant. It probably weighs twice what your PX does, but it seems to be able to absorb all sorts of abuse an is now an old friend.

ETA: Morning to you too. I think I got more of a draught off that scooter than I realised at the time. I certainly didn't have another burst like that left in me

Had a most amusing scalp this morning, really wish I'd had a helmet cam to capture the look on one of the guys faces :-) Whilst waiting at the lights opposite Balham Waitrose (very brief today, timed it superbly!) I spotted a couple of peps riding through the junction on roadies. They immediately get targetted......

Once I pull onto the road and fix on them I spot a rather enthusiastic guy in a blue top on a skinny tyred hybrid making quick work of getting along the road :-) (Un)fortunately neither of the 2 roadies or fast hybrid guy seem interested in stopping for one of the red ped crossing lights so I don't quite catch them before Cyclopolis(sp.) and instead catch them at my favorite bit.......the brief incline! As we hit the bottom the roadie is is tailing fast hybrid guy pulls out to overtake and hybrid guy seems to have a look of dis-belief on his face. To properly rub it in I go round the two of them and show them how to get up the hill properly quickly, remaining seated to prove a point  Wasn't even the fastest I've done up that little "bump" but still rather fun as the look on hybrid riders face was priceless

Also I swear I was one rider off yelling this morning as I was getting sick of people just drifting in front of me away from the lights. Yes you may be able to pull off slightly quicker in the first 5 yards as you're in a stupid spinny gear on your MTB, just watch where you head after that!

I seriously felt like I had two tennis ball-sized knots in my left quad. The right one was still tucked up in bed, it seemed. Sensible fellow.

    .

I didn't bring anything to the party with me this morning - I think I should give my road bike away and buy a pashley.

I'd look good in a head scarf, wicker basket etc.

Someone seems to have adjusted my legs this morning. Lots of pain for very little speed. The headwind and some smooth filtering kept my scalp in tact but it was not a pleasant ride.

Fingers crossed the easterly wind stays for the ride home.

Hit 26mph down Greenwich park on the FG this morning, which is way quicker than normal and far above my normal max cadence. I'm going to put it down the Sufferfest "Angels" which I did on the Turbo at the weekend. Never thought I could or even should hit 105rpm standing up, I'm normally more of a low revving Diesel engine.

Could only muster a max of 24mph this morning due to that evil wind. Well, that and the fatigue brought on by two nights out this weekend. I'm too old for that these days.

I drove in this morning again as I didn't get back til late last night, so didn't swap my car/bike out.

I also left later as taking g/f to the City but I didn't see Ketsbaia - OKR around 09:20

Had to come in at an obscene hour this morning for work: left the house at 6:15am.

Traffic was better, but, to the chaps on my wheel along Embankment, you both need front lights.

Looking forward to riding in at least a little bit of daylight this evening.

I think by that point I was on Great Dover Street, so you can't have missed me by much.

Hope it's more N than E as there were some nasty side gusts along Viccy Emb. on Friday evening.
