Pestilence seems a bit of a nancy boy, y'know, war's all like the short man syndrome guy, who talks too loudly and brings, well, war to the party. Famine's probably a vegan, over in the corner complaining that the pineapple's touching the cheese. But at least famine's like a proper killer, like war. But pestilence? I mean, come on. Eeeeee OMG no a spider! Damn you pestilence. Rubbish hey?
I'd like to be death, please.
You'll have to go CX for that. And if you can't ride no-handed, the scythe is going to be a bit tricky.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

Just to clarify, because this has been laid at LiT's door several times today, but it was I who suggsted Barrafina. And it wasn't I who paid either, when I was taken there.
Many profuse apologies dear CoriLe Cannon [98 Cannondale M400] [FCN: 8]

A true scalp is not only overtaking someone but leaving them stopped at a set of lights. As you, who have clearly beaten the lights, pummels nothing but the open air ahead. ~ 'DondaddyD'. Player of the Unspoken Game0 -

Pretty sure a scythe requires two hands to operate. I'm envisaging a rather nasty blade-in-spokes incident. Not so apocalyptic if death takes herself out is it?1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

Another day on the XTC, another hypo on the return journey! Not as bad as last week and still managed to scalp a flat-bar roadie on the climb. I'm starting to thing that bike is cursed...

Good job there were no fast peeps around on my way home this evening. I was rubbish. No motivation and everything was hard work. I'm blaming lack of food during the day. Yeah, that's what it was. No question, nosirree*. Stupid world cup!

New job, 12 month contract, senior position, very nervous, working alongside Governors/Board members/Directors and don't want them to dismiss me or get all ageist or something.
Just don't want to give them an inch... while making the most of the opportunity and life changing chance.
May get a brompton...Food Chain number = 4

No need to give up the cycling!
Less time on the internet during the working day may be a good move though.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
No job's worth giving up cycling for.
I'm contemplating a change later in the year, I certainly wouldn't consider a job which I couldn't cycle to.0 -
As long as you are professional and do a good job, why should the mode of transport used to get to work matter?

Spurious reason for giving up the bike. Picture them playing The Game or doing laps of Richmond Park
It's a contract, not a jail term. Besides cycling is calming. Fact. 8)0 -
I'm thinking that maybe the 2 cans of Stella Artois that was consumed (courtesy of the office I'm working at!) during the footie may have had something to do with my apparent lack of "omph" on the homeward journey today....
Thankfully there where no really fast riders about so I had most of The Embankment to myself. I didn't go over Chelsea Bridge and carried on intending to go via Wandsworth but decided to try another route home and went via Battersea Bridge :-) I knew I just had to head approximately straight down south and I'd hit Clapham Common.....almost missed one turning on a one-way system just past the High Street section. I also vaguely remembered there being a bit of a climb from when I was working on a site on the south side of BB and getting there via bus! I certainly chose a nice day to tackle that little beauty! I was determined to do it without dropping out my favourite gear so did it all out of the saddle until I got behind the glacier-slow hybrid rider near the top!! I have no idea how she remained upright with so little forward motion, I could see snails on the sidewalk scalping her!!! I managed to thankfully get past as we crossed the main road and she was struggling with her gearing......
Almost had an extended cooling off period on the way home due to finding another lady I could have easily followed for the last 1 1/2 miles :-D She was on a road bike (Trek IIRC) but my competitive edge for the best of me and I stormed on past and left her well behind ;-)
The route was about the same as what I've been getting on the return leg via QTR and I reckon I'll give it a go on the outbound tomorrow as I can see the hill that I climbed today being even more fun in reverse!!0 -
No beers to blame it on here. Best excuse I can come up with is that I missed out on a piece of cake at lunch time. Gave away at least three scalps and crawled the last bit on the small ring and a big cog. A few days off the bike will put this all behind me, I hope.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)
