Saw a sneaky attempt to conceal one's FCN this morning coming onto Blackfriars Bridge. Rolled up jeans over the top of your bib shorts with shaved calves poking out the bottom does not count as 'civvies'. Tut tut.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

Haha, great spot!
Didn't come across any competition this morning sadly, I wanted to gauge how crippling the addition of a pannier rack and bags is going to be

I left stupidly late this morning (i.e. 8am) and had a nice easy pedal in. Having been too busy riding the Such to get the lights on it, I was aboard Teh Pig this morning.
I had no answer for the quick dude on a road bike on Nine Elms, but then enjoyably and repeatedly scalped a dude on a black Condor up Borough before owning London Bridge.
Nothing like a good commute!David

That was an interesting commute to the station NOT!
No problems with the PF just yet however my right shifter now only selects either the lowest or highest gears neither very useful, the front dérailleur doesn't!!! It's stuck solid then the left shifter lever ended it's self into a field, I now stuck in a low gear pedaled home to find my SS in bits and black with months on gongeled muck. You'd think with all the bikes I have I could just jump on another and be on my way!
Yeh like it works like that!
Anyway after bodged chain clean and retension, tyres pumped and lights transfer I back on the road alas due to the lateness my normal station is not an option worse still the main station requires me to climb the almost 1000ft chutes hill FFS!!!
This prompted me to fit the camera on the front that you might all witness my pain an suffering however whilst fitting the camera I snapped the mount... Not going well so far and I'm not even at work.
Well i made it to the station all be it slowly, hopefully there's so video footage as well and not just road or sky.
Every cloud has a silver lining this morning detore added 9 miles
new back please....!Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

Wet, but a least it wasn't cold.
The traffic was chokka from Blackfriars Bridge to Parlt Square. What the hell was going on? Seemed to be a load of tourist coaches around.
Brief chase of a rapid SSer down DSC and to AB before the traffic split us.
Really wouldn't have liked a headwind tonight...FCN 2-4.

mmm headwind yes that to tonight, well at least I could see the direction of wind thanks to the stair rods of rain.
Also noticed some good ol fashioned SCR action from KX to BF, followed a dude on a Mercian tourer with town & country tyres which has got me A-thinking!!!Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

Got side swiped on the way in :x
Was in a (mandatory) cycle lane coming up to lights at a t junction (road joining from the right) Several cars were turning right and there's no room for two cars unless they go into the cycle lane. Van ahead stopped so i was coming up the right hand side. As i get alongside he decided to hit the gap and for a split second i'm pretty much lying up against his left hand side. Only a small van so managed to get my elbow on the roof to steady myself and as he speeds off managed to keep my balance and stay upright (Carly is very stable for a track bike, as this is the third time i've thought i was going down but manged to avoid it - or maybe i'm just that skillfull :P).
Clipped back in and chased after him... caught him at the next lights... the expected SMIDSY response... gave him an ear bashing about driving off without checking. As there was no damaged done to me or bike i knew nothing more would be done if i even tried taking it further so just left it at that.
What a rush!0 -
phew sounds close OJ... did he say anything back at all?
I had someone try to turn through me this morning, they were supposed to give way and essentially blocked my path, I waved my had to ask them wtf were they doing and pointed sternly for them to get the fu<k back and allow me through which they duly did.Purveyor of sonic doom

I rode the Kharma on Saturday 27 February...
I'm now in work today with the Kharma perched behind me. :shock:Food Chain number = 4
A true scalp is not only overtaking someone but leaving them stopped at a set of lights. As you, who have clearly beaten the lights, pummels nothing but the open air ahead. ~ 'DondaddyD'. Player of the Unspoken Game0 -

He was apologetic in sort of a "SMIDSY (cos i didn't look) so it's not my fault" kind of way.0 -

DId he touch the bike aswell ;-)
Good to hear you've got the Kharma, I'm on the drag strip this evening so you might be able to catch me  Gonna be hitting it late tho as I don't finish til 6 so will be at Stockwell around 6:15/20 ish depending on how quickly I get changed........
Late start this morning meant I was practically the only roadie heading along past Clapham Common :-( DId spot one other chap on a Focus but the c0ckjockey RLJ'd and I then hit every bleeding RL in my pursuit to catch him.
Had a moan at a persistent RLJing coffin dodger, managed to get a shrug out of him as he sailed through the red at Stockwell with me saying "Straight through again........"
Wind was certainly picking up and I was dreading the ride over VB, so I wasn't best impressed when a whippet-like courier type started looking like he was heading the same way. Wonderfully smooth pedaling technique so a white Genesis Flyer. I got past before the crest and he let out a chuckle (not sure why........), headwind was fairly fierce and made it a good bit of fun. He headed towards Pimlico once we crossed Embankment and I was left to tear up VB Road by myself, scalping a milkfloat in the process :-D0 -
Apart from the wind and scalping a RLJing Speccy S-works nothing to report from Brizzle other than all the jealous looks I got as I passed all the tin box occupiers sat behind one another.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
-
Ride home today proved to be a bit more fruitful then the ride to work :-)
First up was a chap on a Ribble winter training heading over VB, we both went sprinting across Embankment and then I just lit the afterburners! Very unlike me to sprint that hard so early in the commute but I just shot off up the road and nipped round the traffic ahead. He caught up with me in traffic as we approached Stockwell and I was hoping for another play but he peeled off towards Brixton :-(
Got to the lights at Clapham North, having already passed a chap on a very nice purple (I think) Specialized who had monstrous legs to find a rather nice looking Bianchi C2C waiting at the red, it looked like it was going to be proper fun now! Speccy guy made an enthuastic dash from the lights and we had to hold off on racing due to traffic and a police car behind us causing the traffic to part like Moses and the Red Sea.
Once we got to the lights by the northern edge of the common we had reformed our little group ready for a proper crack!
The wind was blowing something rotten so I knew it would take a big effort to clear these two as they didn't look like slouches.
The hammer was firmly put down and I just ignored that burning feeling in the legs......a bus passed and I was wishing I'd been able to jump in it's slipstream but I wouldn't have made it! I kept going as the lights didn't offer any respite, eventually the traffic ahead started stacking up and I did a shoulder check to pull round the bus.......CLEAN AIR and no sight of any blinking lights! Not sure if they both turned off or I'd managed to put a huge amount of distance between us (I'd like to think the latter......)
Terrible moving average when I got home, despite it feeling like a fast ride. I'm putting it down to some terrible traffic that saw me waiting around and shuffling along for a few sections, such a PITA when you can't move! I did however beat some boy racer in his silly little car from Streatham through to Thornton Heath, lost him in the traffic jam on the high street0 -
Lots of traffic down through Balham, Tooting and Mitcham last night as well. No obvious reason for it at any point, but it did mean an enforced pootle for most of the ride home - probably not such a bad thing as I was knackered. Felt like I could have fallen asleep on the bike by the time I got to Hackbridge.
One plus point: they've put in (or maybe just repaired) street lights along the full length of the road across Mitcham Common so no more being plunged into darkness once you get past Mitcham Junction station.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

Aye, it's odd. If someone had told me ten years ago "you will be excited, nay, overjoyed, by a good quality, smooth road surface" I would have thought them mad. Really, I find a newly-surfaced road to be a thing of beauty - what kind of weirdo am I?The above is a post in a forum on the Intertubes, and should be taken with the appropriate amount of seriousness.0 -
