Saw a fully castellied-up SSer on chelsea embankment. He looked a bit hot in full tights and an espresso jacket, though
Do you mean he looked a bit warm, or were you letting your Castelli fetish get the better of you?! BTW, did you get round to buying the Diluvio gloves? If so, are they any good?
Back OT, overtook everything in sight both ways today. Nothing much worth boasting about though - mostly RLJers and/or hybrid/MTBers.0 -

No, not got the gloves yet. Si (Citizen Smith) has ordered some and I was going to see how the sizing came up: it's different from their other gloves with only two sizes on offer...0 -

Came up against a couple of roadies and one SSer on a Condor on the NKR, and it was the SSer who was the faster of the three, so the two roadies were dropped. Picked up a couple of other roadies with ther SSer on the south side of the Putney Bridge. One turns off quickly to the rier; the other is an older chap I've seen a good few times. He's properly quick. Seemed to filter quicker than the others on the LRR so lost them. Pants. Queen's Ride could have a right speed fest.
All quiet after that, but felt wheezy coming through Petersham/Ham Common. Not as bad as Roastie, but not good. :?
CJCP.
Was the SSer wearing what could've been a black Rapha top (white hoop on arm) and 3/4 length tights? If so may've been him I encountered on the way home. If it's the same, I've SCRed him before, & he has the potential to go fast. Faster than I could be bothered to go after today."Bed is for sleepy people.

Was that a certain Mr T I saw running for cover amongst a gaggle of roadies last night on Embankment? Musta been 6.30ish between Albert and Battersea bridges0

More than a few toasted scalps as I pootled away from the lights scorching them... Hopefully the poor lass who'd crashed with another cyclist just post waterloo bridge overpass is okay... Traffic wasn't fast at all but she seemed a bit stunned.Le Cannon [98 Cannondale M400] [FCN: 8]

What's the context?
@Blu3cat - didn't see the Rapha top. He actually had baggies on, but the street lighting suggested shaved legs. There's a rapid SSer who I think wears Rapha gear and has a chevroned hi-viz tab on his backpack.

Great fun this morning. Had to work hard to keep my scalp. There was a fast moving Trek who I overtook off Putney Bridge, who then hurriedly overtook me with a high cadence. When I moved alongside to re-take him by Parsons Green, he was having none of it, and immediately upped his cadence and pulled away. I passed him in traffic after the WBR lights, and not sure if he was chasing me between AB and CB lights, but there was a flashing front light light and similar looking jacket abotu 30 yards behind me, which I think I lost on the rise to CB lights.
This chap was a SCR enthusiast. Anyone on here?
Also, anyone on here ride a Giant Defy (carbon, I think) and was on Millbank this morning at about 8:40? Chapeau, sir. You looked to have plenty more in the tank.FCN 2-4.

@ Roastie : I'm an old (53) slow fella - my usual pace is normally around 17-18 mph over the 21 miles into work (inc traffic stops etc) so I guess I'm probably closer to 20 ish unhindered (but that's never happened).
And yes there are some very very very fast riders around here - damn them for being mostly younger and much fitter than me!!

No worthy opponents this morning. A rubenesque woman (only nice way to put it) on a pink Brompton cut in front of me when I was waiting for some lights then proceeded to ride off very slowly on the outside of me making it harder to overtake. I was tempted by the undertake but thought better of it (safety is the SCRer's main priority after all) and waited for an opportune moment to overtake leaving her quivering in my wake. I don't know why they bother to overtake and then block you when they know you're going to be faster.Bianchi Via Nirone Veloce/Centaur 20100

You know mine's the other way round.
I find the people on my commute are idiots and it's work that keeps me sane.
The numpties today were unreal. The idiot on a cannondale F800 today with large headphones on you are by far the biggest prick I've ever encountered riding a bicycle.0 -
chapeau (or whatever the technical term for not catching someone from one light to the next is) to the guy in the google shirt going north on vauxhall bridge this morning.
After a bit of miss getting my right spd in first time then having to pass the other bike detritus I made chase by which time there was clear distance between us. Got half way toward the summit wasn't gaining any ground at all against what appeared to be no effort on your part at all. I was surprised as I can usually catch most going up there so I pushed harder, glanced down a moment later and clocked 43(Ks) which must surely be my personal best on that stretch! In fact in the cold light of day I'm now wondering if there was a tail wind or if my computer is malfunctioning but I'll go with that speed because it makes me feel better...
But anyway I was now closing but no way enough to catch you. Nearly pulled up to tell you the news about the speed at the lights at the bottom but was too busy skin breathing (as were you I'm pretty sure, which made mildly more palatable).0 -

I did it!!!
Not only did I commute in (after being off up mountains getting broken for a week, then a week to recover) but I came across another cyclist.
Admitedly it was a 3 wheeled recumbent, but I had his ass good and proper, with a cheery "Morning" as I slid past, doing all of 13mph (headwind, out of practice...stop sniggering!!!)
It's the first time i've had the chance to get a scalp, so i'm claiming it!0 -

I have seen google man as well. Unless there are two swift google-shirted, north-heading morning vauxhall bridge crossers. I think he was quite surprised when I went past him, but cannot claim the scalp as the lights came too soon and he did not have his chance to respond. He went straight ahead while I turn left onto embankment.
Maybe our paths will cross one day soon commuterconvert. What's your commute and what do you ride?
I normally crest the summit at about 25mph, which is 40K, but then normally ease off as the light is invariably red, so I haven't speed checked at full pelt on the down slope.0 -

I work my way from Herne Hill/Dulwich way to Soho a variety of different routes, sometimes via Brixton or Oval over Vauxhall Bridge. Other times over Westminster via Kennington Road or E&C. Same in reverse.
The route all depends on a whim though is influenced by lights and how lazy I feel...
Although usually once I see any obvious SCRers going one way my decision is taken for me.
I’m on a 10yr old Turquoise/Silver Marin bobcat skinny MTB with a rackpack. Keep thinking of upgrading but it does the job.
What about you?
Do shout hello if you see me, I will attempt to keep up though as I said 43 on the way up VB is definitely the exception not the norm!0 -

Was there a tailwind tonight? Either way I felt like I was starting to get some form back.
One notable incident: I passed a roadie girl who was towing a slicked -up MTBer quite quickly through DSC. Then, as I'm riding along, I notice this really bright blue light behind me - I keep thinking it is a car - but the light is way to high up, so I'm thinking maybe motorbike. Either way, I'm not going to be passed easily, so I wind The Pig up and settle at 48 metric (30 in Imperial). The blue light is still there. The light ahead turns red, the light backs off and then pulls up alongside - it is the roadie girl!
She must have kicked to get onto my wheel and in the process blown the MTBer clear out of the water! (Chapeau Miss!) At CB she turns off, I head on straight. As usual I turn off at AB where my pootle begins - I see her again turning onto Battersea Park Drive - her uber light has run out of battery, but she's close to home so doesn't seem too fazed. Very friendly, and clearly fairly quick.David
