Enter a local race 67 km race on my Dahon folding bike.

    FCN for the day: 12.

Got a 66 place out 142 of on a very windy day. Outburst, like "No", "No way" and "That did not happen" from the riders I overtook made it a very fun ride!

Lovely day for it today, took the summer commuter (old roadie) for a spin and got to work in a respectable 26mins, not much SCR going in but commute notable for a first sighting of DDD, on the Kharma, turning right at Clapham Common I was just behind going straight on so didn't have chance to say hello / battle for scalps!

Thank god for that, don't think I would have ever been able to live it down....

    How was my riding?

3 days off the bike and oddly my legs were not playing this morning! 3 days must just be too long... weird.

Fortunately I still wsan't scalped. Phew.

But you were shaved, where is the beard and the trucker's hat?!

And now back to feeling like rubbish...bad throat and bad tummy...boo :-(

Were you wearing your wicking fabric bear suit at the same time?

I think some fancy dress race action may be the next evolution.

Where's FunkyChicken - we need an "in" into the race circuit - he can be our trojan horse (or chicken).

Let's hope fancy dress does take off, fancy dress running is already out there, did a 6 km run dressed as a nun a few weeks ago. Fancy dress cycling would be cool, now you could do themes, imagine a peloton all dressed as Mr T - chains 'n all (built on bikes made in the garage from a toilet roll and a food blender)

Oh and far too lovely a morning to worry about SCR, just span to work at a comfortable pace.

I had a fun SCR in Essex yesterday; there are no other bikes to my opponent was a Transit pickup.

We started next to each other with a standing start at the lights headed. From the lights I took the lead, accelerating as hard. First "obstacle" about 100m into the battle is a raised ped crossing. I'm still on my 42 and clicking through the gears as he hits it hard. I hear much clanging and then the roar of the diesel as he gets over the pad behind me. Game on!

Cue the 52. The builders in the Transit are shouting at me, I peek back and see the one dude hanging out the window waving a fist and shouting. Oh dear. Fortunately another crossing pad ahead and a few gears to go. At this stage I'm winding something like 52x15 for all I'm worth, then click up another as I fly over the pad.

Transit man hardly lifts this time and hits the pad hard, "Crash!" Now it is an fair fight on a wider section to the roundabout. I'm tucked in now as the Transit starts to draw level and I finally hear what they're shouting at me:

"35 mate!! You're doing more than 35!! GO GO GO!!" :D

one chancer roadie near busted a nut trying to overtake me just as we got to traffic lights he slammed on the brakes and we were off again soon, the wind clearly had an effect on him or he just tried to damn hard and I went flying past him at the first opportunity while playing with my beard.

This girl had been RLJing along High Street Ken this morning but it was only when she RLJed through a crowd of peds actually crossing that I shouted "Oi! You don't DO that" and scowled at her as I cycled past. Bad girl.

Ride in fine. Nothing to report. There seldom is.

By strange coincidence I saw one of those yesterday - brand new bike and the girl riding it was wearing more hi-vis than you would believe possible - ankle bands, wrist bands, band round the helmet and a gilet - nervous newby?

You are not the first person to suggest something along those lines :-) Jez, the UK importer of the Worlds best XC fullys (Pronghorn racing), sugested that I wore an alien suit for the Dahon Folding Bike Championship of the Universe @ Bike Radar Live.... The Dahon I use this weekend was actually the first price from that exact race

Coming home last night, one stretch of the commute coincides with a time trial and club run (Summer only)

As I pulled out onto the road I saw a fully kitted TT type go whizzing past the other way with the biggest damn chain ring I have ever seen. This guy was motoring as well

As I pull up the hill (okay incline   ) I look ahead and see another TT / club type in full kit struggling up the top section of hill, he's a good 1/4 mile in front but clearly at the ragged edge of endurance.

Well.... what could I do? Yup. Stomp on the pedals and give it some beans. I **almost** got to him before he pulled off to the start / finish point of the club riders (there's a parking area where there used to be a transport cafe)

Of course, playing the SCR game, I went hairing past (with my mudguards and rack with pannier) with no seemed effort (ahem) and gave a cheery "Good Evening!"to him. I was faced with this sweat drenched, flushed and clearly utterly exhausted face from the poor guy. I don't know how far he'd gone but he clearly could go no further.

Furthermore, just to make sure I kept up the appearance I motored off maintaining a high cadence with a nod to the other club riders.

Hurrah! Other cyclists to play with!

I've been going a slightly different way in to work recently, and as I left the house at 9am this morning I thought I'd better go the quicker way through Acton. See, I do have a work ethic after all.

And hurrah! The road was packed with cyclists! And only a few of them were numpties! Actually, in all seriousness, it was quite remarkable...

Anyhow, they spurred me on, despite the untimely death of my cateye, and I got to work in good time, with a backpack full of scalps. :D

last night my legs didn't feel good, surprising how 3 weeks out of the sadlle kills your fitness.

Subsequently got scalped by a fixie rider who I casually went past earlier on the trip home and thought thank-you. Damn they cam back at me and scalped me good and proper, oh and yes they definitely knew what they were doing.

This morning of course, everything clicked and no-one to play with.

I may actually need to start getting up and leaving earlier if I am to see any regular action

Anyone else go from wandsworth to hammersmith in the mornings and can recommend the best time for some SCR?

Also Herman's safety lolly, anyone fitted one just to raise their FCN and collect more scalps on the commute.

Still no SCR action for me, blasted short commute.......did have some fun today tho :-)
I got out on another of my excursion to a local site that I could ride to and carry the parts I needed in my bag. Getting there was a bit of a battle as it seemed the wind was blowing north whilst I headed south on the A23 through the ar$3 end of Croydon.

I think the thought that spurred me on was how much fun I could have on the return leg......and boy did I! No other cyclist to be found but cruising past a queue of cars who where stuck at temp roadwork lights was hugely satisfying as was holding 30mph once I got some clear road ahead of me :-D Must have been an energetic ride tho as I'm STARVING - just cramming food down my throat now :-)

I got roasted by a Focus Varido Expert this morning and yesterday evening << hangs head >>

    I was on the Kharma....

First instance was on Clapham High Road, the slight incline on the way to Clapham North the first Focus took me and left me at my lights. I feel disgusted given my signature.

The second Focus was on the slight incline through Tooting, he rode at whippet speed...

Other than that I destroyed everything in my wake....
