(47 times by the way. not that i'm counting.)

You see that's the problem with Gladiator films.

    Spartacus, 300, Gladiator,

They have sword fights, epic stories, action, heroism all set in a historical setting where health and safety didn't exist and "bad day at work" meant you got speared or eaten by lions.

    However

At some point you realise that you are watching grown buff, well muscled men wrestling after having been hosed down with a stirrup pump of baby oil.

Now man on man action is all very well in its place but when you have to pay to watch it - then I'm not so comfortable.
Fixed gear for wet weather / hairy roadie for posing in the sun.

    What would Thora Hurd do?
  • you see, i never really get that guilty about it. i'm just more focused on the enjoyment and spectacle of it all. i'm happy with that, and so's my partner. or rather he doesn't complain when we re-enact the scenes anyhow.

It's an assumption that my latest failed business venture would suggest is true.

  • I love my bar tape - makes my bike my own as you cannot get it anymore.

hey lusso, i've manged to track some more of that tape down for ya. you might have to pay more for shipping though but it's a small price to pay though for continuity of the individual look and keeping me amused.

Holy crap! Your web searching skills are very finely honed! I managed to get 2 rolls from ebay a few years ago - left them in the shed and hey presto......fixie and roadie now done when I changed brakes. I am changing the roadie as I am getting a carbon frame soon.....so, roll on new tape, I thinking Italian flag....!

It's particularly ghey in here today must be the weather

No SCRing for me this morning, this weekends sportive has ensured a lengthy off the bike session, my saddle sore has escalated to burst festering wounds making walking a tricky affair :?

Nice, I feel that I am adequately informed.....

Suggest switching to roller blades - the leg movement is akin to a man in trouble, but hides it well as you glide along effortlessly.....

Oddly... no :? but then they tend to avoid me... I think it's the combi of panniers, mudguards and the CX bike that scares them off.

I think that would be my ideal bike combination...

Sometimes my commute is a little off road.

Now just need to wait for the economy to pick up again...

The shame, I got sort of scalped tonight as I approached home. Managed to get from 'work' to home with only getting caught at 2 red lights :D Needed more lights for breathers. As I got within 50 yds of home I did the shoulder look as I needed to cross over the road and this burd on an old roadie came speeding past, think LiT on a fast sprint. I was impressed with her speed but not with the fact that she got me but as I say I had slowed to cross the road so techincally not 100% a scalp.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Well that's me all caught up!

FC - Welcome (as I'm not sure anyone else has said it yet.........) Whilst you might have kicked the doors in with your first post, I'm slowly warming to your sense of humour now ;-)

GT - I watched 300 in HD at my mates house the other night (courtesy of his Sky HD and lovely Panasonic LCD TV!) and before you get any weird idea's both our other half's where there at the same time - I have to say tho that it does make quite a difference, especially in the fighting scenes, the detail as Leonidis lopes off another leg is something else! Also came in quite nice during the part where they consult the prophets, not that I like seeing lepers in HD but the young lass was welcome :-D

BD - Those ZV gels are rather icky, tried one on my of my longer excursions a while back and found it rather odd - I still have one left and I'm planning on using it during my charity ride to help get over the last hill and avoid have to stop like last year! I wasn't to keen on their energy drink poweders as they seemed a bit week and didn't really seem to dissolve :-(

Anyhow back OT, I think I can claim I rode home faster then the wind this evening as it was raining at one end of town where I started my commute and dry when I got home. It then started raining a few minutes after therefore I'm claiming a scalp on God and his silly wet stuff :-) In doing this I also did a chap on a Carrera roadie all ends up. He had a clear run down the bus lane and even red light jumped........I looked across as I came zipping past in "proper" lanes and could see the crushed look on his face  Rather pleasing!

But they do vary in consistency, so maybe the one you used was quite liquid?

    OK, it happened like this.

Homeward journey, 12 miles, light headwind, sun on my back.

First town brings a warm up, fat girl on a BSO. Doesnt count, just chum in the water

On the drag out of town I see the target. Lets be professional, no need to try. Next turn offs a mile up the road, let him dangle. Time enough to make the catch. Quick sip of water and select a gear.

Matey shoulder checks and starts to spin like a demon.

That would be enough, but theres more - Green Lyrca shorts

    Yeah you heard.

    Green Lycra Shorts.

    Big ring. Small cog.

He shoulder checks again and stand on the pedals.

The gap reopens, but he's on the down slope I'm still climbing.

    Another shoulder check, and

    HE FECKING GIVES IN

SUDDENLY STOPS TO TAKE A DRINK

LOOKS AT ME AS IF ' OH I WASN'T TRYING'

    AYE RIGHT!

Why is there no FCN adjustment for Carbon?

Why is there no FCN adjustment for Carbon?

How much carbon would you need to qualify for the adjuster tho? The only carbon on my bike is the fork and a tiny ring of carbon fibre on my helmet (the one of my head not the one in my shorts.........) The frame on my SCR is alu but that hasn't stopped me trouncing a few fully carbon bikes before  Besides most of our top guys on carbon are already on a FCN of 0 or 1 so I don't think there's going to be much point in trying to reduce their FCN any further!

Got a lift home last night as I had a bad stomach - you know, the type where your kidneys hurt!

Anyhoo - nice ride in this morning - 9 scalps. most of them count too!....only issue is that wife now has a bad stomach!

Not sure if the scapls count, since It was race, but I still had a lot of fun :-)

Enter a local race 67 km race on my Dahon folding bike.

    FCN for the day: 12.

Got a 66 place out 142 of on a very windy day. Outburst, like "No", "No way" and "That did not happen" from the riders I overtook made it a very fun ride!

A rare SCR (slightly) worthy of comment in Leeds!

Just pulling onto Kirkstall Road at the lights (Leeds folk know where I mean - it's not all about London!) and a bloke on a road bike contaminated by flat bars wafts past much to my surprise. Surprise 1) because I'm not used to people wafting past and 2) I couldn't see where he got the speed from unless he was on Kirkstall Road already and RLJ'd.

I gradually start to catch up momentarily losing my advantage when he proves point 2 by jumping a red just past Woodrups. I pass him and destroy him at the viaduct. Another pair of slicks falls victim to my knobblies

One or two cycle to work wobblers but not much difference to any other week sadly.....

Lovely day for it today, took the summer commuter (old roadie) for a spin and got to work in a respectable 26mins, not much SCR going in but commute notable for a first sighting of DDD, on the Kharma, turning right at Clapham Common I was just behind going straight on so didn't have chance to say hello / battle for scalps!

3 days off the bike and oddly my legs were not playing this morning! 3 days must just be too long... weird.

Fortunately I still wsan't scalped. Phew.
