Silly commuting racing

Plus a local expert had raised concerns back in 2016: Antonio Brencich, a professor specialising in reinforced concrete construction at the University of Genoa, called the span “a failure of engineering”.
“That bridge is wrong. Sooner or later it will have to be replaced,” he said. “I do not know when. But there will be a time when the cost of maintenance will be higher than a replacement.”
(Sorry for OT -on leave, so no SCR or tales from the rural commute. Feel free to return to noddling, shoaling and other general cock-wombling)Location: ciderspace0 -

Oh, hang on.
Still won't catch me running without good cause.0 -

Yes.
There are threads on the dark web for runners.
EDIT: I ran the 17k or so to work a couple of times last summer. It took me more than twice the time it took me to ride that route. I also felt like I needed a nap the moment I arrived at work, and then again in the afternoon.FCN 2-4.

Slow. Probably due to unaero calves.
CJ is a rude cnut too. Waved at him from my car yesterday whilst he was just turning down Queen's Ride off LRR. Grey M140i. Wave back next time or I'll drive at you0 -

I have no idea what you two gentlemen are waffling on about.
However, I have visions of you pressed up against the windows, wide-eyed, and semi-crazed looks on your faces.FCN 2-4.

Fark me walking up mountains off road really messes up your body, i've spent a week in the lakes basically doing ascent 50% harder gradient wise than my usual hilly cycle routes and my knees are shot, like proper shot, calling the mountain rescue crossed my mind more than once this week.

I understand what you're all saying, but when you're used to sleepy NZ it feels very, very alien.
Back to SCR - I don't understand how I'm so average on the flat, and yet seem to blast people on the hills. Yesterday I could barely catch a couple of roadies along a flat path (I accept my panniers into the headwind won't have helped, but I still wasn't doing great). 2 minutes later I annihilated a guy on a gravel bike with similar tyres to my 1&1/4s, but must have been carrying at least 5 less kilos of bike. He also got a nice run up from jumping the lights before the long climb. Maybe it's my position? Cadence? Want to figure this out before I start racing this summer.0 -
Caught up with a Boardman full suspension MTB uphill, drew level, noticed it was fitted with tri bars, dropped behind it out of interest.
Just about kept up with him on the next downhill stretch and then got dropped on the flat.
Lesson learnt!0 -

Nice ride in but a bit fresh, saw loads of bikes going in the opposite direction but only one going my way and he went a different direction just as I caught him.
Back to Tooting this evening with legs of lead so will be slow. There's always a headwind riding from Tooting back to Kingston.0 -

I suspect one of the buttons on his tri bars turned on his hidden electric motor...that's my excuse and I am sticking with it!0 -
Too nice not to get some extra miles in Richmond Park under the belt this morning. 30 miles for this morning's commute.
Now very, very hungry.
Who's the fella on the SS green and silver Cannondale? Blimey, he can shift.
And then there's the fella who rides a dark blue Condor, panniers, no helmet. Mate, couple of points: red light = stop; pavements are for pedestrians.FCN 2-4.

I think I've seen Cannondale guy before, I was just able to match him but he had a full size hiking bag big enough for a week of camping which may have helped!0

Quite a small guy, doesn't wear a helmet and has brakes by the stem rather than hoods?0

CS7 - Chap on a s/s with red detailing, including red chain. Kept me honest. Was joined by another s/s and then a guy with an orange aero helmet and rapha shorts.
At E&C, St Georges Road is one way heading north only. There is a completely segregated cycle lane separated by a raised curb and a large pavement. Its about a cars width, and is for cyclists heading both directions. As I passed, saw a van driving down the cycle lane at speed, in the opposite way to the one way traffic. He only just fit in the cycle lane and how he didn't hit anyone is beyond belief.0 -

Proper Cat 6 chopperthon this morning. Thought better of getting involved, wish I had popcorn for some of it...was well entertaining.0

Seemed pretty quiet this morning I thought, some chopperism, but better than usual I thought. There was also a headwind, and there's supposed to be a headwind again later. Stupid weather.0
