Something like an orange POC helmet? But if everyone had one it wouldn't stand out.
Mind you it's quite busy as I try to get from the path to the right turn lane between the bridge and the lights so tend to concentrate on the traffic.

Reports say the car went through a group of cyclists to get to the security barriers.

  • Thankfully stuck to the hell of the South, hope all are ok. I am guessing the terrorist figured by targeting cyclists he could get off with a £30 fine and 3 points.
If I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. PM for details.
  • "No life threatening injuries", so:

Were all the cyclists wearing helmets and high-vis?

Aye. Still train w***kering and Bromptoning so avoided Parliament.
    Hope anyone involved is ok.

  • Unexpected SCR this morning, a more than capable rider on a MTB with knobblies was playing chief draft fairy so I latched on, I overtook to take the segment uphill and managed to keep the gap until a red. From there another uphill had him on my wheel so I knocked it into top gear and went hell for leather. (I've updated my main chain ring to a 50 tooth from the 46 stock that I bent) so my top speed is quicker than most CX. Managed to keep the gap until the next red when he pulled up and offered a chapeau. I guess he must be used to picking off roadies at will, but hadn't heard of SCR.

Came in through Brixton this morning. Only bit of fun was a random dog running out in the road with no owner in sight near the Oval junction, seemed to be having a whale of a time.

    Indeed, very bad taste, etc,etc...
I laughed too, does it mean we are bad people or just despair slightly because there is some truth in that?

I don't use Twitter as it triggers my misanthropy... so maybe it's the norm, but that really is disturbing to see the media all swoop in like that! I'd tell them all I want £1k per feature of they can **** off.

or would you have got out the car and seen if you could assist in any way?

I saw a ped go under a bus and as a few of us tried to help you would be amazed how many cvnts were filming it.

To be fair there are a number of emergency services in attendance in the pics. We don't know either way if they'd been asked to leave it to the pro's

Well, the last fella that mowed down pedestrians then crashed into Parliament promptly got out with a knife, so I think staying in the car is not such a bad move

...but yeah - a while ago an electronic billboard fell down in Tooting and trapped a woman's legs. The number of people standing around filming it when I came past was staggering

If I arrived on the scene before the emergency services, then yes of course.

I also take a pretty dim view on those who just stand around filming accidents or people in need. It's a sad sign of the times really.

  • The Bromley commute was the best ever - different class of people. On CS7 now and it sucks although the scenery may be a little easier on the eye.

Rode out to Sevenoaks on Friday night. Had planned to go further, but a combination of leaving later than planned, the traffic after London Bridge, Deptford, New Cross and Lewisham, and the never-ending bloody hills and undulations to Bromley and everywhere bloody else banjaxed all that.

The traffic out to New Cross ain't at all fun. Makes Embankment look like a walk in the park.

Kudos if you commute in from Bromley every day. How the hell do you cope with all that????

I managed a meagre 26 miles before hopping on a train. I rode down Star Hill, saw the vast expanse of green countryside between me and where I needed to go, thought "Sod that!", and jumped on the train at Sevenoaks.

That 26 miles felt a lot further than the 33 and 40 miles I'd ridden the previous two evenings. I just can't work out if it was the hills or the nervous energy I'd burned riding through SE London traffic.

Was on Queensway last Thursday and there was thick black smoke coming out of a vent from a flat above some shops, with a load of people knocking on the door and calling out trying to warn whoever was inside, but no one was filming.

Came back 30 mins later, the road was closed to traffic, there were at least 8 appliances (I used to watch London's Burning ) of various types and a couple of ambulances (although not a lot actually going on) and there were dozens of people filming on their phones.

So at least in this instance, peoples instincts were correct - get the people out first.

yeeeees, and that means she hadn't been asked to return to it and let them get on with teir job?? All we have is the picture and the fact you mention. Anything else is pure speculation.

This discussion about people filming rather than helping reminds me of the kid in its pushchair being blown onto the tracks at Goodge Street. As the mum rushes to the rescue (absolutely desperate), some absolute sh1tc**t just stands there watching: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/vid ... acks-video

Okay, the incident begins while his back is turned, but look at his demeanour - he appears to give literally zero f***s. How can he not walk over and at least look as though he's bothered?

Far too warm, even for swimming in one. Was 24.7c in the water for London Triathlon on the 4th / 5th of this month. If the mercury hits 25c then wetsuits are banned prompting absolute panic from the organisers that the vast majority of competitors wouldn't actually be able to swim 1500m without one.
Was a clubmate with the thermometer. They decided it was going to measure below 25 because having everyone panicking and wearing tow floats would have been carnage.

Yes Ironman always managed to find a cool patch to measure the water temps to allow wetsuits. Until the first time in European history that they couldn't and lucky me got to swim without a wetsuit... Took forever. I'm a crap swimmer.

Tow floats sound like more trouble than their worth in a crowded swim - Imagine the tangled lines ?

What's the reason for banning wetsuits at 25c? And do they make swimming that much easier - is it to do with buoyancy?

    1) You should only need them to protect against getting too cold. Over 25 degrees, you don't need that protection.
    2) Yes, it's all about extra buoyancy.
