Sadly, the thing that first struck me about that video was the quality - crisp and steady. Some relief that no-one appeared to have been injured, there’s more than one video and the police were involved by the end of it.

GoPro Session 5 mounted on the bars in the case of my mate. 1080HD quality, wide angle lens plus the fact that it is on a steady mount versus the other one which is mounted on the bloke's lid and therefore bobs around like crazy as he moves his head gives a much better piece of footage.

    Wow utter madness!

Here's another vid of this incident. it looks even worse than Nick's vid

    Words. fail.

Headlines are not written by the journalist who writes the story. It's pretty standard for the headline to be misleading clickbait.

Very lucky there was a big group of cyclists at that junction or I'm sure he would have followed through with his threats. Had something similar to the original swerve into the bike lane/undertake the other day in Brixton. Watched him weave in and out of the traffic into the distance and thought 'glad he's now in front of me'.

At least there's lots of video footage of it. Another plus for recording commutes.

But even that headline (i guess another sub though) says "reckless", when the Met also call him "dangerous". I would call him "homicidal".

Felt like a proper South West London commuter Friday evening as I rode through Richmond Park and then on a bit of blue tarmac. Unfortunately due to visiting the old man in St George's, same again tonight so I might actually see a few cyclists for a change.
  • Proper hacked off this morning...

Forgot to start Strava, and then towards the end, go for a green light sprint and the reflector I had on the rear wheel decided to explode... (a part had already snapped off before the ride but I guess a cross wind blew it round and it fouled the rear frame and got ejected at about 25kph)
I guessed what the noise/feeling was and powered on to make the green light and only checked at the top of the following hill.

But still forgot to start the bloody Strava record!!!

I think everyone would have benefited had the videos gone straight to the rozzers, rather than via the internet and the press.

rozzers were there so presume they got the videos
  • If you see the original posts on the twitters the rozzers had them and were scrabbling to link up between the BTP, Met Cycle Cops and local force as to who was doing what. I am sure the driver will face the full force of the law in a £30 fine and maybe 2 points.

Bang on my usual route but was holidaying so wasn't part of the madness... I can only look at the coverage with disdain with zero motivation to try and correct the gaggle of c0ckwombles seeing this as a 'who is to blame' piece of coverage.

Else two weeks of cheese eating and only two short rides meant this morning felt tiring.
If I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. PM for details.

It is perplexing that none of these 'news' outlets don't run with the 'who is to blame?' angle when it's Jonny Terrorist driving a car on the pavement....

Can I just take this opportunity to apologise to anyone who was held up by my feeble attempts to impersonate a cyclist this morning. I think my legs are still in bed.

    Oh the shame!!!!

Was on the train yesterday morning because of a trip to the theatre last night. Couldn't face the full journey in to Waterloo and then the tube, so ran from Vauxhall. Was having hot flushes all yesterday. Feels like the male bloody menopause.

Epic route choice fail. Run from home to Barnes instead, then Boris Bike from Vauxhall/Waterloo as a warm down. Follow Beverley Brook from Roehampton Gate to avoid Priory Lane.

And get on the train at Barnes to Vauxhall? You've seen how much I sweat, right? I look like someone with advanced symptoms of a tropical disease, and people would likely flee for their lives or call the emergency services.

Besides, when did you ever run???!!!!

When I ran in a couple of times last summer, I followed the bike route (so, including Priory Lane - yuk) until the NKR, when I carried straight onto Sloane Square etc.

You'd still be less unpleasant than a lot of the people who travel by train; I'm sure some of them only shower weekly.

Ye of little faith! I've even been known to do the odd fell race, I just don't see the appeal in pounding tarmac...

Thinking to take up running. My legs are so week despite of bulging quads. Funny, how little cycling translates into, especially with useless upper body

My workmate Brian featured as the sweaty commuter on the front page of the Evening Standard as well as some other rags the other week when they were at Clapham Junction watching commuters travelling on trains in 37 C heat without any air conditioning.

Suffice to say he has taken a lot of stick for this

I feel his pain. I walked from Bishopsgate to Covent Garden last night, and I looked a right state by Barbican. When the kids saw me, they initially came running towards me, and then started to put the brakes on when they were close up, saying something like "Urgh, what?! No!"

Top tip, white shirts are the only shirts you should ever wear in the heat/humidity as the sweaty mess isn't quite so apparent.....

  • Horrific accident this morning on Jamaica road at the junction with Southwark Park Road - cyclist vs. tipper truck. I only saw the aftermath but that was bad enough.

Good race on my way this morning with a slightly older guy on a road bike. Was pootling with my hands on the tops on the Raleigh after a late night and he cruised past on the bike lane. Despite having just been thinking how pleasant it was not gunning it for a change, I immediately gave chase and got in his tow. He checked a few times to see whether I was still behind, which in my mind was the international signal of 'you game?' Opened the taps coming around the corner, but couldn't gauge whether he kept up all the way to the lights as there was too many hazards to check behind.
