Down Exhibition Road I take him again, next set of lights....he RLJs
Round South Ken down towards Chelsea, I take him comfortably again until he hops on to the pavement to avoid queued traffic....AAHHHHHHHHHH
This guy is now seriously p*ssing me off (did I mention he had no helmet no lights?!)
He disappears down some side street, I leave him and carry on my usual route at 'anger speed', pull up to lights waiting to cross Albert Bridge and who appears 20 seconds later from a pavement side angle but Mr PISta....I'm not sure who had the biggest look of shock on their face....but I know who won the scalp
That does my head in, especially the ones like this guy on a genesis last night who kept squeezing past me to RLJ, only for me to overtake him 5 seconds later. Seriously. Grrrrr. :evil:0 -

I don't mind that if they then bugger off down the road never to be seen again. Its the ones who squeeze past, jump 1/2 the lights to the exact point that they then can't see the lights and then wait for everyone behind them coming past to let them know that the lights have changed. I normally give them a cheery "well done, I wish I was that smart" comment as I roll past. Why do you do it you selfish numpties?FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0 -

Orchestral version? That's the only version on record (though they played it at Wembley last year).

I have an, erm, unofficial recording of the non-orchestral version then...
So anyway.
What on earth was going on with the traffic this evening?! All the way back to ealing itwas bumper to bumper. Totally spoiled my fun!0 -
Had a car try to threaten me approaching a set of green lights today. It was obvious he was trying to get through the lights before they changed, he was close to my back wheel revving the engine tooting the horn. It did cross my mind to slow down but the approach wasa downward slope so my actions would have looked obvious. In the end I let him go and just gave him the 'you didn't scare me' glare. If he wants to scare/threaten cyclists perhaps he ought to drive something other than a ford ka.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Welcome blackworx, that story should be part of The Game manual (if one where ever to be written) as a stern warning about older riders on wheels and scaffolding - NEVER UNDERESTIMATE them!!!!
Nowt to report this evening for me, overtook a scooter as we filtered in traffic and had a clear road ahead. He didn't catch and overtake so I'm not sure if this counts?? Having said this we did pass quite a few side roads so it's more then likely that he nipped down one of them...........argh I need to commute into London again! This short run into the town centre is hopeless! All those on mile commutes of scalp free roads I really feel for you!!! At least I get a chance to vary my commute!0 -

So this week I've been doing an office move in Taunton on Monday and Tuesday so stuck in my tin box and being taunted by the Blackdown Hills, The Quantocks AND Exmoor all nearby.
Today I had a car full of routers and servers to take to work, tin box again
Tomorrow, a job interview in Birmingham (worry not yokels, It'l be working from home not a move to the Middle Lands if I get it. I'll have to take up the SurfMatt commute model though) - guess what, tin box travelling again.
Sooooannnyyyyywaaaaaay
Friday will be my first day on the bike this week, I will be doing slightly more than my normal commute to get to Bristle Temulmeads, then hitting Londonia.
I'd like to apply to the forum for "honourary commuter status" in order to try my hand at a quick scalp on the Embankment. (yep I've taken the day off for the SCR Chrimbo bash!)
It's been such a frustrating week and I don't think I'll spot any scalps riding back home at 1.30am.
I promise to throw any scalps back in the water if I get any."Impressive break"

Good stuff Prawny, welcome to the forum.
Sounds like there's a story to be told there, many's the time I've had to replace a scalp with an apologetic pat as I realise that they're not above me in the food chain. It makes the real scalps taste all the sweeter!

Hahahahaaaa! It does sounds like it was me!
Black leggings, black tracksuity-looking jersey with little white bits round the shoulders, blonde hair, blue-eyed. I do remember smiling at someone! And yes, that's the way I go on that route.
Fun! First SCR sighting when actually SCR-ing!
EDIT: I'm going that way again this evening - if you see me say hi!0 -

Slippy slippy slippy
Bloody hell it was slippy last on the way home. Nearly lost it on a couple of occasions and when it came to Winter Hill I had to forget about putting any power down, everytime I tried the back wheel just span up. I was absolutely bricking it for half my ride as the back of the bike felt disconnected from the front. Anyone else have this or was it just out here in the wilds of Berkshire?
btw drove to Reading along the A4 and accelerating from a roundabout the front wheels on the car span up to on a grease patch. I swear there must have been a car just dumping oil on the road whereever I went.Short hairy legged roadie FCN 4 or 5 in my baggies.

Anyone else think the traffic was absolutely shocking this morning? It's days like these you really wonder what possesses people to commute into central London by car.FCN 2-4.

Cold, wet & windy here in Belfast. You'd think that would scare the cyclists off, but oddly there were more than usual today. All going in the wrong direction to be scalped, but respect enough is due for being out in those conditions. I had to use the middle ring on a 5% down gradient FFS and a sustained gust of this headwind almost brought me to standstill at one point!
I don't have an Ultimate Speed Music Mix, buit if I did, it would feature Prodigy. A lot. I'll have no truck with this so-called "rock" music, with it's guitars, silly hair and whatnot.
Hope you all have fun at the Christmas party - wish I could go but it'd be a helluva taxi ride back. I'll be going out for a few beers here, to join you in spirit at leastToday is a good day to ride0 -

The peds were particularly somnolent today :x0 -
I came in later that normal today, no traffic worries fr me on the Embankment at around 8.30-8.45?
Last nights ride home was hell though. The pain generators had maxed out before I even got to Lambeth, so with the mild headwind along Embankment may as well have been a hurricane I got home and had to sit down for 30 mins before recovering enough to have a shower!
This singlespeed thing is hard work...FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0 -
I had some stuff to do this morning so, helped into awakeness by the gf getting up early, I ended up commuting at the ridiculous hour of 8.05! And, rather to my surprise, the traffic was pretty similar to 90 minutes later, with maybe a few more bikes but nothing major.
I did encounter a roadie who was determined to teach me a lesson, but I at least kept up with him before some bus-related filtering meant he gained 300 yards or so on me and while I kept him in sight, I wasn't going to catch him. Ah well.
Last night, on the way home, I was heading along Bayswater road when I noticed a dude in a suit, wearing headphones, looking downards, standing in the gutter. I kept my eye on him, wondering if I should warn him that what he was doing was dangerous, when, as I started to pass him, he thrust a hand out (I guess to hail a cab) and caught me on the shoulder! Thankfully (for both of us) it was more a glancing blow, but that didn't lower the volume of my cry of "you C0CK!" as I shot past. Felt a bit vulnerable after that - I should have taken a wider line. Hmm.0 -
Feltup,
winter hill? THat's my neck of the woods. Don't think I've seen you on the road. Where, when to you commute?
