Not really sure, all I really remember was the back end spun round hit the verge, then more spinning bouncing and rolling, judging by the wreck I had a pretty lucky escape. :(

Could you bump the FCN numbers bake up to the top of the thread - I don't fancy reading 250 odd pages to find the latest criteria?

Yeah, looks like you've had a hard day. Take the rest of the week off and pop in on Monday whenever suits.

Yep a time to get there would be good...I'm coming in from Twickenham, so excuses all round for being red, sweaty and wheezey when I arrive!

Oh and I'm bringing Ol' Rusty along, as I think I'll be better after a beer or two (and it's my only bike with lights on at the mo)

    Now what to wear?....hmmmmm

I just remembered lots of different variations so never thought to look at the start again! They're a funny lot here in Shropshire. Now it's getting cold and miserable there seem to be more cyclists on the road???

Having actually seen BD on his lovely Focus I can confirm he looked superb, although the excessive facial hair did confuse me at first.
I can also confirm that he can shift, having had to put down some serious wattage once I woke up and realized the marshal had cleared us for entry into the second area of the Mall during the Freewheel :-D

Sorry I couldn't make it tonight but having not had my bike with me for work and getting the train home mid afternoon I was having such a nice time with the kids that I didn't want to spoil it all by leaving to tide back into town, so I'll have to catch up with everyone next time!

Hey LiT, can you confirm you got round the Vauxhall one way system intact? I watched you setting off (at my advice) and from the side at least it looked like a nightmare!

Hope you were okay and had a fun party. Lovely drinks - good to meet Greg and Snooks, and also kind of good to be home relatively sober at a reasonable hour :)

The Vauxhall one way system is huge fun on a bike :-) I go that way if I'm heading home from Victoria area - I've found the key is to be assertive and get in lane at the bottom of the bridge. I'm not to sure if I'd be saying that if it was my first time round there but the lanes are well marked up so it's not to bad!

Seeing as the SCR anti-London fan club love it when we talk all "London" ...like!, is anyone planning on visiting the Cycle Show 2008 , Earl Court, London (The Capital of this great Isle) http://www.cycleshow.co.uk/

I shall be making my way there from Wiltshire which is not in London if anyone's interested, the public dates are the 10-12th October.

Did I mention it's in London

HI itb, Your not the only one not from London.

Glad your Ok after what sounds like a nasty accident.

I shall also be making the trip to Earls Court over that weekend to do some "window shopping". Not sure which day yet, will have to consult the other half and see when I can get my free pass!

Just looking at your bike pics I see you have a Selle Italia saddle on your Ridgeback. I bought the max version a few weeks back for my Spec Epic. They only had it in white.

I think its a whole lot more comfortable than the standard saddle thatcame with my bike, worth the money I thought.

Cool! - I toyed with idea of bringing the family but frankly I think it would be more fun to meet up with a bunch of SCR's and cruise (not racing of course) to Earl's Court, as a side note i'm very fond of Earl Court and the Fulham area in General, it's where I grew up.

Ah the white saddle, alas there's no hope for you my friend, it's a slippery downhill slope from there believe me I have the white saddle, chain & bars :D I will very much be window shopping although I think I deserve a nice wheelset for my Trek.

Is anyone else thinking of making the trip?

It's just taken me an hour to catch up on this weeks posts (I must admit I read ve ry slow ly)

Sorry for the lack of posts, life/work balance seems to have reverted back to work/life, not good.

LiT, I really need to get me one of those sheep.

    ...and so to the Game

I didn't get to ride my bike until Thursday, but it was well worth the wait:-

Heading out of my home town I spotted a target up ahead, a roadie on what later turned out to be a very nice litespeed bike, full length tights but I'm claiming this as shaven as he was wearing a PBK team top, definitely above me in the food chain.
He turned off before I even got close, down a lane I hadn't considered until now, it's both shorter and flatter than the route I normally take, two or three miles later he re-appeared in front of me about 100 yards ahead and I took him like he was stood still, tossing the scalp into the hedgerow - I have no use for such trinkets.

He caught me at the lights a mile or so down the road and we exchanged pleasantries, turns out he was the guy I caught but didn't pass a few weeks back. We set off together - I was happy to work with him as it was winndy 'n' 'orrible. We got half a mile down the road and at the first sign of a hill I dropped him again - scalp number two. a long shallow descent after this and his inner Game player came out, he used his big ring to full effect and took us up to a speed whereby he was drafting a camper van, I managed to stay in touch although with my 69.3" gearing (take note GregT, cadence is king) I left a vortex in the space time continuum in my wake.
Again another short hill and - trying to breathe through my skin, I dropped him again.

A long flat followed by another couple of short ramps (dropped him again on each one, and waited for him after the top) over the next three or four miles, I had given up scalping this guy as I could see skull bone, we pulled up at a T junction and he gave me the ultimate compliment - "God, gasp, you're fast on that thing, gasp gasp"

Parted company not long after, I felt good for having towed him into work and my ego was straining at the leash after his comment, TBH I'm not that good, but I'll take any compliments I can get.

Spent the whole of a sequence of traffic lights after that playing with a guy (leave it Greg) on a tourer, thus:-
Stop at the lights, tourer guy judges them to perfection nd goes past at speed.
Catch and pass tourer guy, wait at next lights. He was below me n food chain though so it didn't count.

    Repeated that about four times.

As for last night's commute home, there was something seriously wrong with the traffic, I spent huge chunks of time passing slow and stationery cars.
Got overtaken at speed by an absolute 4r$e hole in a van (CB Thorne a plumber from Weston Sur Mer) during one of the few sections of flowing traffic. He passed me without actually changing his trajectory at all, whilst tailgating someone so close that he was constantly dabbing the brakes. felt very close (to me) and very fast - if he had a published e-mail address I'd be giving him a piece of my mind right now.

I did enjoy passing his now very stuck in traffic van a good 10 miles further up the road, gave him one of my hardest stares as I passed, but the adrenaline had passed, the weekend was starting and I didn't much fancy a shouting match.
    "Impressive break"

    "Thanks...
