Did the underwear thing today, ie I left mine at home today. Tried to go without but working in 2c meant I needed to put my bibshorts back on.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • I can only assume the D in DX Delivery stands for D0uchebags

They left a parcel for me yesterday "in a safe place". There is no safe place in my building. Due to a delayed train instead of getting home at 11:30 last night I won't be home until 6:30am today. :(
  • Used CS3 out east for the first time today... Utter shambles of a route, 90 degree bends, random junctions some you have priority at and others you don't... lanes dangerously narrow and frequented with RLJ merchants and suicide peds. Says a lot about cycle infrastructure in East London, if this is considered "good"!

So much more dangerous than the regular City - Kingston route I take - south west london has it good in cycling terms.

You didn't mention the wiggle through the park on shared footpaths - that's a real highlight! And just to top it off - until a few months ago lots of the Narrows Street section ran with the continental drive on the right system. The traffic lights with Cannon Street Road sometimes make you wait for two set of changes of lights before a green for the cyclists - great way to encourage RLJs.

Imagine how narrow those Lanes feel with a loony coming towards you on a boric bike doing a wheelie
Next time try The Highway, it feels much safer.

You kinda have to think of CS3 as a comic interlude which lets you get your breath back - any attempt at speed is really dangerous.

There's nothing like that sinking feeling as you go down the escalator and see the chaos on the platform!!

Fortunately I don't have to get the northern line. Unfortunately I have to get south west trains into Waterloo and then jubilee round to CW :x

    Thank god for cycling 8)

Down the escalator? You kids don't know you're born! I remember mornings getting to Waterloo jubilee line and they had closed the turnstiles altogether! Those were the days...

Lady that every morning rides to work with a cup of coffee in her right hand very slowly on the road.
She probably feels in control, but she doesn't look it - especially in todays' wind!

  • Amazon Prime, ordered item on Monday out for delivery all day yesterday ,text message at 21:36 unable to deliver due to no one being at the office. Ring Amazon normal commercial deliveries are between 09:00 and 17:00 so why have they tried to deliver it at half nine. Drivers are over whelmed as it Christmas, if you need an item we suggest you use our next day delivery - which is what I thought I done......

Amazon Logistics is a bit random, seems like Uber for deliveries. I've had things turn up late in the evening before. Far prefer one of the services where they drop it off at a shop nearby that I can collect from.

Amazon Prime Now however is pretty cool, managed to get me out of me lazily not buying a secret santa gift when I was able to order it at 2pm and have then deliver it between 4 and 6 in time for dinner at 7.30 8)

Up till October my Prime has been flawless. Combination of Royal Mail and Yodel (I know).

After that, switch to Logistics. Gosh. Just awful. Don't bother trying, fail, don't put it on the van, send one van with one parcel, leave the other at the depot. Awful.

In 3 weeks 6 separate cock ups. Still, my renewal was due in November. It's now due in May as each time they cock up they add another month. I reckon, by Xmas, I'll have got a full free year of Prime.

nb the use of expletives in this post has been supressed but very much implied - feel free to add your own whilst reading

    Stupidmarketingcompanythinktheyaresoflippinclever ...

It's not my project - for some reason the directors thought it a good idea to pay a marketing co enough money to fund a World Tour team to design and build a transactional website.
They've built it using Magento (spit spit)
I've suggested that the phrase "Come again" in the checkout success page is perhaps not quite correct as it's use these days is not quite the same.
The marketing company have labeled it "Out of Scope" ..

so 2 mintues searching google, downloading the phtml page and doing a find has shown me where I can change the awful phrase myself ... which I shall do.

I have noticed recently the next-day promise is not being fulfilled - like right from the ordering stage: so, it'll be Tuesday morning, a Prime item, but the date for delivery will be Thursday. happened with two separate products.
    Just recently.

Not just me having issues with Amazon Logistics then. Ordered DVD box set and got a phone call from courier 15:30 the following day asking if I was home and could I come and open the door etc, went down to the door and the courier was outside the flats next door. Ordered a £25 MP3 player last week and had the despatch email then the out for delivery email Monday morning and going on previous deliveries knew it would arrive late afternoon so when I got the delivered email at 10:45 I went and checked for the parcel and asked in the cafe to see if they had taken the parcel. No go with the package so got Amazon to call me and apparently they courier can deliver the parcel while it's still on the van so I cancelled the order.

Tradesmen. All of them. You work in a service industry and sometimes you might benefit from repeat custom.

If I'm going to spend a five figure sum, its not unreasonable to give me a cost breakdown. Its not a trick question or an insult to your integrity. Oh, and if I've got to pay Vat include it in the price please, or are you planning on cash because that's tax exempt right?

If you are going to pitch for a month's work, please turn up. Please turn up on the right day. Please turn up on time. Please check the fing map before you set off. You can think of these things a bit like 'showing enthusiasm' if you like.

Roofers - there are things called weather forecasts. In your trade they might be helpful. And I don't want to have to check up on your attendance record, nor do I give a sh1t if the van broke down, your nan is sick or the dog ate your homework.

    Its like dealing with children.

Saw an ad on the back of a bus this morning: "Cyclists, don't run red lights. Stop at the line."

Hard to take safety tips from a vehicle that has just run a red light & is now parked in a box junction blocking traffic.

Sliced my nearly new front tyre wide open on a pothole in the shite that calls itself a road just outside Catford Bridge tube station. Explosive decompression, no idea how I stayed up, tyre and tube ruined, not yet sure about the wheel.

Karma probably, as I got KOM on that section last week :D

Anyone know the rules around claiming for damage to a bike like you can for a car due to poor surface maintenance? That bit of road has been a disaster for well over a year.

This is a useful guide: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/pothole-claims Though I think in many cases local councils are good at getting out of it (i.e. they only have to make sure they are following reasonable checks of the road - they aren't required to guarantee that roads will be free of defects!)

Yep, they only have to have an inspection log of the area and that apparently gets them out of it. Tried to take our local council on for a new wheel, tyre and personal injury (Ididn't stay on) and got nowhere, even lawyering up through BC

Your best bet is to look at sites like FixMyStreet and FillThatHole etc to see if the fault that directly affected you has been adequately and accurately reported to the authority concerned.

If they haven't been provably informed of the problem then all they have to prove is that they conducted inspections on a "reasonable" schedule/timescale. That's all they need to do. (To be fair to them, having been severely injured because of a pothole, I think that's all they can do!)
Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.

Unlikely TBH unless it's been reported on fillthathole or similar websites recently. I trashed a rim on a pothole that I rode past numerous times but my attention was taken by a stupid driver so hit the edge of the pothole. I reported said pothole on fillthathole.org and answered the question about damage caused by saying it cost me £50 for the rim + labour. The pothole was repaired within 24 hours.

I managed to find my pothole using historic imagery from the previous year on Google SV but even that appeared insufficient. The only good thing that came from it was the series of holes being repaired.
  • Cyclists who do not indicate.

Sitting at a roundabout as a group of cyclists approach from the right and promptly turn left without a hand signal amongst them.
The last one did look a bit sheepish as I threw up my hands and proclaimed my frustration.

Honestly we don't help ourselves at times.
