A work colleage was the victim of a hit and run on Saturday night on his way home from work. Details are vague, some saying he was left on the roadside for several hours. Only definite thing so far is he's in hospital with spinal injuries.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Overtaking with great haste then suddenly becoming overly conscientious when turning left immediately after.

Wow. Firstly, hopefully he's ok. Second, if it really is a hit-and-run, that's evil.Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.0 -

Hope he is ok - and hope they catch the driver.0 -
Been placed on call Monday to Monday, one week on, three weeks off. 24 hour support. Which means I have to drive to and from work so I have the van available, and cant stray too far from home in the evenings. This leaves very little time/possibility to actually ride my bike... :evil:0

But you have three weeks in which to catch up, that can't be too bad.0 -
Due to work issues (travelling around) and very busy weekends I've not so much as touched a bike for at least 4 weeks.0

Letter from the cafe I live above advising of refurbishments starting next week but cause off the opening hours the work will start after midnight. They did supply a pair of ear plugs and a voucher for a free meal. Today, Thursday 01:30 the noise has already started as did my phonecall to the local Council.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Have they got a section 61 from the council? Otherwise, I think they have to do the work between 8 and 17.30 and if that means they have to close, then so be it.0 -
They have a Children in Need cake sale at work and I am trying to lose weight.

The victim here was visited Wednesday by another work colleague and the story is as follows:
He was riding along and felt an almighty whack from behind and ended up in some bushes beside the road and took ten minutes to crawl out with the injuries he suffered, broken hip, spinal damage and a hole in his skull. As he got to the roadside he was spotted by a supermarket delivery driver who did the decent thing and called the police and ambulance. Before they arrived the car which hit him came back along the road and stopped and said we thought we hit something but wasn't sure, as they were speaking to the delivery driver they were sniggering. The police and ambulance turned up and did what they had to do ie carted work colleague off to hospital and the police arrested and charged the driver with driving without due care and attention with hopefully more charges to follow pending investigation.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
Unbelievable isn't it? Probably too busy on their phone to bother looking where they were going.
Hope the victim is able to make a full recovery.0 -

Wow that's scary stuff. They were obviously doing something they shouldn't off - speeding, phone, "how close can we get", or all 3 and more Hope he makes a full recovery!Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.
Bike 1 (Broken) - Bike 2(Borked) - Bike 3(broken spokes) - Bike 4( Needs Work) - Bike 5 (in bits) - Bike 6* ...0 -
Ouchy fall this morning. 50 yards from the office gates. Rubbed a teeny tiny kerb detailing on the cycle path and went down like a sack of spuds.
Fell (again) on the expensive side of the bike and have bent my rear mech' hanger into it's favoured position (pushing the chain into the back wheel!). Have bent it back out again and it looks ok. Having just had my gears nicely indexed and bike service last week, it's a bit of a pain in the as s!0 -

Ouch! You should replace the hanger or the bike. Probably get a spare set of both just to be on the safe side.

Think it was speeding and how close can we get, the road where it happened is a fast road coming off motorway junction. When he was visited he said he hopes to be back in work in a month but given his injuries that is unlikely. Want to see him back in work but the job we do is physical and mostly in a +2c temperature.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
I'm not sure they can do that?

The local council said the same about work having to be done during normal working hours via twitter. Doubt they have a section 61 and had two nights of bad sleep cause of it.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -

I unbox all of mine when I first get them now and nip them up with a 4.5mm spanner. I learnt the hard way after getting caught in the middle of France with a screw on pump that removed the valve core every single time I inflated it and removed the pump. Someone eventually showed up with a CO2 canister and I was eventually able to get re-inflated."The Flying Scot"

Bought a Victorian place down South. Anticipated a little extra work, time required and expense needed due to the age but really struggled through the last week.
Every single screw that I have found has had the head completely stripped, whoever artexed the house has done it on top of paper so the plasters can't just skim over the top (worried the water will pull the paper off) and the whole house has been pained in cream, shiny silk paint which makes it look like it was inhabited by smokers. Every job is taking me three times as long as planned.
Think the weeks of work I had planned will stretch into months!“Jij bent niet van suiker gemaakt”0
