Nope, Caveat Emptor or buyer beware, only thing they're obliged to do is in caveating their particulars properly, taking the board off after 14 days and passing all offers through to the seller, there is less that one agent a year prosecuted/struck off, a massive unregulated service given they're messing with so much of your money/livelihood. Your hoze pipe through his letter box would though.
Or a sign in the front window saying we're in dispute over unfinished work.
  • Why would drivers be pissed off at those of us that have lights?

It's entirely your prerogative to have a rant on the rants thread, but I think at this time of year it's easy for an occasional cyclist to be caught out if they haven't noticed how early it has started to get dark - we're hardly in the depths of December here, the clocks haven't changed (yet!).

Public transport usually isn't an option if you have your bike with you (can't take it on the bus, can't take it on the train in rush hour etc) and walking is massively slower. And as I mentioned earlier, what about if they've just had their lights stolen?

Given as you correctly point out lights are cheap, you can either play the good Samaritan and help them with the offer of a spare, or you can just moan at them - if they decline your offer then I fully support your right to moan at them.

If the bike has been locked up or your caught out, yes you can't take the bike on the trains at rush hour, though on quieter stations they will turn a blind eye.

but you can wait or in some cases take off road routes, I've ridden though Bushy Park with out lights since my wife's 5 min job after work turned into a 3hr and more etc.

you lock it up or take it home after, taxi's will take bikes. in other words there are a lot of options rather than riding.

I find my post ride nasal clearance is pretty effective, but really wtf makes them think standing amongst the bikes & cyclist in a haze of smoke is a good idea?

Tw@ in a Range Rover towing a caravan in very windy conditions on the M62 at 75+ mph.

My GPS said I was doing 70 so he was definitely doing 75+.

Stacked it on Saturday. We’d been training in Richmond Park and were making our way back to North London, via the King’s Road.

Queuing in stop-start traffic. We start building up speed after a red light – because of the junction we had plenty of road in front of us and to get across – when a Maserati (typical King’s Road fodder) cuts up my mate. He’s in front of me, grabs a handful of brake to save hitting the car. I do the same, but grab a slightly larger handful in order to not hit my mate.

Over the bars and to the kerb, still with the right leg clipped in.

    Damage as follows:
One scuffed Campag lever hood (fixed with super glue)
One saddle, completely written off (new one ordered from Giant Camden)
Small hole in the pocket my Hackney GT jersey
Rash/bruising to right knee and left hip
Soft tissue damage to right hand

Driver disappeared down the road as so oft is the case. I’m partly to blame, maybe, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Entirely to blame surely according to your description. Your mate is able to brake and avoid the car, you were too close to your mate to do the same. Not saying I would have been any better at not crashing in the circumstances though!

I know I ranted about people without lights last week, and this a rant about people with arguably too many lights and Im sure theres a happy medium in between these two extremes somewhere

but riding home and a guy coming towards me has fixed his super duper ultra bright front light (probably one of those off road night lights given the light levels) to his crash helmet, alongside the more traditional light fixed to handlebars, so the ultra bright light its not only blindingly shining right in my eyeline making it damn difficult for me to see too far up the road, but the guys head is bobbing about and turning around constantly and the lights flying around like its some kind of searchlight.

who knows what people in cars make of it, but it sure as f*** was annoying the hell out of me

    Joggers.

    In particular joggers with dogs.

Specifically joggers with two little rat-like dogs that randomly dart from one side of the path to the other and never even both in the same direction at once!!!

Haha, I had this walking the dog in the country park the other night. Bloke on a mtb with a full beam light totally blinding me, couldn't see a thing so pulled over to one side with dog to heel and had to wait an age for him to come past. Not sure if he was taking it easy because of us or if he came from so far away.

Would be murder in the car.
  • I just read a few pages of the vasectomy thread, and now my rants all appear really rather petty!

Interesting. If I am logged in the times are correct but if I'm not logged in they are not.

Current time is GMT == UCT and 'wrong' time when logged out is one hour ahead. Very odd. Oh well never mind.

Left my debit card and cash in work and off work for two days now, have cash at home but still going to have to ride down there Wednesday to collect it. Usually I put it in my lunchbox after my meal break but was training and had the opportunity for several visits to the coffee machine.

Put my wet gear on, walked out the house, it had almost stopped raining, went back in to change to light rain gear, got on my bike, noticed a punctured front tyre. Not enough time to change it so drove in! Pah! My plan for 150 miles of commuting a week foiled in week 1. Might make it up tonight while kiddo's at boxing.

Welcome!
