Grr DX failing to deliver my new bike and wanting me to wait until Monday. Have moaned to Wiggle, will see if that achieves anything.
Wiggle occasionally use DPD - I ordered a bike box from there a couple of weeks ago. I got an email saying it was due for delivery between 10-11 on a Tuesday - then I got an email at 11 saying they couldn't find the address but I was more than welcome to collect the parcel from Halfords or Doddle.
Couldn't find the address!!!!!! I don't live in the Cairngorms!!!! Essentially they don't want to deliver as it's cheaper for them if you collect.
Anyhoo - plenty of moaning on Twitter at Wiggle and it was delivered that night2015 Cervelo S3

I'm sure these delivery companies must employ ninjas to drop off cards without disturbing anyone or getting spotted. Seems ridiculous how often it happens otherwise.0

Lots of sweary rants today.
10mile ride home, 3 attempts a a left hook, one smidsy right turn cutting across my path,,and a stupid rangerove revogue pulling across a cycle lane and just stopping dead as I hurtled towards her at 32mph downhill.
Time for a beer.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.
Bike 1 (Broken) - Bike 2(Borked) - Bike 3(broken spokes) - Bike 4( Needs Work) - Bike 5 (in bits) - Bike 6* ...0 -
What on earth was going on with the traffic in South West London yesterday evening? It was absolute gridlock along Kings Road, Putney Bridge, Lower Richmond Road, and Priory Lane.....
Oh, and why does the traffic always decide it's going to be a complete and utter nightmare when I'm in a rush to get somewhere (in this case to pick my daughter up from after school club)?1938 Hobbs Tandem

I know! I was on a bike though! The traffic was queuing so much that even on a bike, it was tricky getting through.....1938 Hobbs Tandem

Forgot the car was rear wheel drive.
Muddy field leaving yesterday's swimbikerun race.
Got a little stuck in a muddy parking field, had to have one of the organisers in their big boy cars give me a hand.
Was one of many stuck as the field was a bit of a bog by the end of the day. Still felt like a right prat
My punishment for taking part in a triathlon I suppose :roll:0 -
105 shifting again New cables soon to be ordered to replace the 6 month old Jagwire. There's definitely something causing compression in the compressionless housing - the shifting would 'lag' by one click in either direction, so first shift would hardly move the cable then subsequent shifts are fine. I think it's a bit of 'give' in the in-line barrel adjuster but best to be safe by replacing the whole run. Time to get the angle grinder out to ensure smooth cuts in the outers too."Mummy Mummy, when will I grow up?"

On mine I found the length of the cable loop at the back by the derailleur was critical. Took a few attempts but once I got that right it all shifts flawlessly until the chain too dry or too dirty (which isn't that unusual on any system )
If you are on the 105 variants that route the shift cable under the bar tape then using the teflon coated inner cables is recommended (and I've always stuck with that recommendation). I don't think they come out much more expensive than the generic non-coated replacements.

Shouldn't need to get the angle grinder out!!
have you had a cable snap in the shifter? could be some bits of cable left in there.
also, check you have enough cable outer from the frame to the rear mech, if it is too short it can make the bend a bit tight and affect shifting.www.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0 -
Yeah, I had a cable snap a while ago in the shifter. Thought it was all removed though, and it's not the shifter itself - tested it by removing it and running with just the last bit of mech outer and the shifting is fine, so it's snagging somewhere along the cabling route. Quite a decent length of outer from frame to mech but may give it more when I replace. Angle grinder/dremel easier than a cable cutter to get clean cuts through the outers though I'm erring towards Nokon-style links instead of cable.
Edit: after faffing with it for ages yesterday and screwing in the in-line barrel adjuster fully so it doesn't compress the shifting is a lot better, but not quite 100%. Ordered some Jagwire Elite links so will have a play with those to see if I can get it bang on. Good bike is still on 3yr-old Gore Ride-On outers and shifting perfectly but it's SRAM-equipped and SRAM seems much less finicky with cabling."Mummy Mummy, when will I grow up?"

Was run off the road this morning by some twunt eager to race through the narrow country lanes; was at the edge of the road and his wing mirror hit me, pushing me on to the nasty bit of road / dirt interface; down I went and it felt like the full force of the fall was absorbed by my head.
Doesn't seem to be a mark on the bike or me but I've yet to hit the shower
Seems I was a little slow in noticing this....
Its likely that the accident above was the cause...there goes this month's budget0 -

Better the helmet than your head - but still #@%ing annoying. There are some good deals around the bargains thread on helmets0 -
Got hit by a fat twunt on a motorbike - I slowed to stop a amber ped crossing he gunned it through. Brushed rather than full whack - but still made me stagger and would have knocked me off if I hadn't already unclipped. Glad to say two other motorcyclists stopped to check I was ok and sound-off about the fat fool.
It seems that yesterday was be a prat on two wheels (engined variety) day - on the way in to work saw three guys racing embankment - I caught back up due to the first section of bike path. As the "winner" crossed the traffic lights on the West corner of Parliament Square heading onto Abingdon Street / Millbank he pulled a long and impressive wheelie! On Parliament Square FFS0 -

one of those commute days where every overtake feels like an even closer pass, even riding in prime wasnt stopping anyone forcing their way past today, also whats with the thing where the car behind the car who was forcing the overtake, starts to give you random grief as well, it was like they were ganging up on me now or something
most annoying one was one daft sod forced his way through at a traffic light junction, where the traffic light position actually narrows the road at the point he overtook, and then not 20 metres further on, decides to stop completely to let a lorry pull out of a side road.
then once Id got to work it was followed by a colleague ranting about how if only theyd stepped a step to the right on a shared cycle path theyd have been hit by the cyclist who was doing at least 30mph...:roll:0 -
3rd of the way to work this morning and there's a massive bang followed by a lot of rubbing around the front wheel ...
stop on the side of the road and check the front ... arse ... a spokes gone ...
cross the road, text my wife to let her know I'm on my way back and ride slowly back home ...
although I guess this isn't really a rant as
a) it was on an old front wheel - I've got a few spares
b) I got to see my 15 week old son again before going to work - and got a smile too0 -
Had to brake hard to avoid being hit by a close passing bus that overtook me into low sun and fog with a motorbike coming from the other direction. The road narrowed on the left. I caught up with the bus at a turning circle about a mile down the road. When the driver tried explain to me that he had given me 'plenty of room' and shut his little sliding window in my face I really lost my composure with him. By the time I had opened his window back up and finished shouting at him he started to become a bit more apologetic!0

Ordered some mudguards for son's bike before he heads to university tomorrow. Ordered them at the weekend for 1-2 day delivery, paying the extra. Got an email from DX (wtf are DX?) to say it would be delivered on Tuesday. On Tuesday got a message to say sorry they weren't able to deliver Tuesday and would try in the next couple of days. Arrived home tonight to pack all the stuff into the car - still no delivery. Phoned DX to be told they don't deliver to my area and they'd passed the package to a 3rd party. After pushing hard, they said it would be delivered in the next hour. It finally arrived 4 hours later (8 o'clock at night) by some no-name outfit.
The bizarre bit is the other half of the order came by Royal Mail (on Tuesday). I don't understand why Wiggle are using a courier to deliver to my address who doesn't deliver to my address.
Apart from all of the "I blame Wiggle" jokes, I have to say that I can no longer be bothered with them. The prices are less-and-less competitive and the delivery is getting worse. There are too many other options to need to continue with WiggleROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -
Seen a lot of daft stuff over the last couple of months, all of which has been ranted about here, except this beauty I saw this morning going west along Grosvenor Rd/Chelsea Embankment.
I'd overhauled the guy on a road bike - doing about 20mph so for me to pull away and stay ahead was no mean effort on my MTB, and I'm ahead for a few hundred yards or so. Next thing he's come charging past me at 30+. I do a double take and see he's holding on to the back of a van?!
I pass him again at the lights by Chelsea Bridge and get well ahead when lo and behold, as the traffic builds up before Albert Bridge, he's doing it again, this time with the passenger leaning out of the van window effing and jeffing at him.
Holding on to a van, 30+mph, in traffic - for his and everyone else's sake, I hope someone nicks his bike..Waterloo - White City

that's really crap ...
I've left various things around the office and they're all still there - or if accidentally left - usually returned to me if I haven't noticed. One small benefit of working for a small business ... !0 -
Decided to get PT in today to fully enable post-work boozing. Get to the station with ample time to find one working ticket machine and truly epic queue.
Got to the platform in time to see my train fuck off up the line.0 -

Where I work now, family owned, but large company, things do not go missing. Its just not that type of place.
Other corporate places where I've worked, I would not leave anything out. I worked at one place where a lad had £5k in cash in an envelope in his desk drawer as he was going to Hatton Garden to buy an engagement ring later in the day (I know it's a lot!). Someone stole the money during the day whilst he was away from his desk. There were only a handful of people in that particular office and not many who knew it was there. God knows how he felt after, knowing that one of his close colleagues almost certainly had to have been the culprit or how the thief could live with himself.0 -
Had my watch stolen from my office once, unfortunately it was my wedding present from my wife engraved and everything. She has never let me forget! Though we did have members of the public come in to the office, so my own fault for leaving it in sight. Some complete bastards out there.0
