Well at least it has helped me decide that I don't want him and his negativity anywhere near my wedding later in the year when I had thought I would simply have to invite him as the other three in my room will be coming.

For what is worth my advice is not to invite any work colleagues to your wedding unless they are truly friends, same goes for other half's work colleagues as well. They will only get pi$$ed on your account and do something outlandish like try and cop off with a bridesmaid or your sister or mother or worse! Only exception to this is that you should invite the person that pays you, if you know them and they pay you a lot that is, by this I mean the owner of the firm not just your boss. Much better to arrange a night out before the wedding for work safe in the knowledge they can't screw up the big day.

    ha, that's brilliant

ahh unless it was you...was it you dude? its ok you can tell us

No, not me. I'm quoting for context. In fact I couldn't stand the bloke so really enjoyed it. He was a big headed arrogant twunt. Thought he knew everything, but actually knew very little. I once drove his Triumph Stag and told him it had something very wrong with it as it slewed right on power and left on the overrun. He told me I couldn't handle the power. A week later he was replacing all the rear suspension mounts as 3 of the bolts had broken. I didn't say told you so, well not much.

Not wanting to park my tanks on your fox or anything but there's a good chance this bloke is chuffed to bits at not having to go to a wedding.

Be frank, weddings are for girls. They love it, all the dressing up, the big party and a load of dancing with each other to round the night off. Us blokes have to pretend that we do care and are pleased for the happy couple whilst trying not to imagine the same pair in 4 years time living separate lives & plotting a way out of it all, all the time trying not to get too blottoed on the free Bucks Fizz & wine that's being handed out like water. At least there's a chance of a free meal out of it and if lucky a half decent speech from the BM.

Guess who went to a wedding last week?

Absolute moronic cyclist this evening on South Lambeth Road. They'll never read this since no-one on BR could be quite that stupid.

She's cycling up towards the lights which have just changed. There are two cars ahead of her both indicating left and starting to move off. I checked behind and started to move out so that I can overtake the two cars. This idiot undertakes the rear car and then kinda swerves in front of him to avoid hitting the car that was halfway through its turn. She was bloody lucky that the rear car had actually seen her and didn't just inadvertently left hook her.

Virgin Mobile claiming that by using 559mb of my 1024mb data allowance per month means I've gone over my data allowance :? Each month they charge me on the day the allowance is added to my account and after 15 months they still can't get it right and have charged my for internet usage for 12 out of the 15 months so far :(
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Finally, on a good note found the Kingson K9 Capers Van who tried to run me off the road has now had all it's decals removed and all pics of it removed from their website, a lovely statement of their guilt

Why did the passengers on this morning's train find it so funny that the guy with the bike wasn't let on due to the train being full (it wasn't THAT full really). He was politely trying to put his case forward (they don't usually stop you, and he's got to get to work etc). Found the lack of empathy and automatic sniggering at the cyclist quite ugly.

On my ride to work this morning (which I already knew would revolve around fixing the IT fallout from the *three hour* power outage yesterday), I had every kind of idiot driver known to science; the lane chopper, the tailgater, the close overtaking HGV, the ASL abuser, and the "get in the bike lane" shouter. To top it all, my computer wasn't working, then my chain started skipping. Joy.

I spotted him heading across the middle of the park, then kept catching him heading Priory Lane, LRR, NKR, Fulham Rd, Brompton Rd, Hyde Park up to HPC then I assume he headed up Park Lane or along Picadilly or the small roads of Mayfair.

I would have to see how busy the carriage was before commenting, if I am totally honest. Nothing annoys me more than some tool squeezing into a tube carriage or lift car when there clearly isn't enough room to do so.

    Sniggering's a bit OTT though.

EDIT: and I am not saying you're a tool, btw.

Was going to put this in International Idiots but that seems to have dissolved into a sect meeting.

So - approaching a cross-roads this am following the bin lorry up to the GW and a Merc starts to overtake me; I'm doing about 25, the Keep Left bollard is a rapidly diminishing 100 yards away and I'm already well over to the right (cos that's where I need to be). Mad cow just carries on, forces her way in and then stops behind the truck. I give her the shrug & the 'what was that about then?' face and get the usual blank stare into the distance in return before she hares off on her mercy mission. Bonkers old trout.

100 yards up the road, bin lorry is now on the right as that's where the houses and therefore the bins are, and the bin truck is doing what they do - creeping at walking pace on the wrong side of the road whilst the bin men lob stuff in the back. And the guy at the front of the line of traffic approaching from the other direction seems unable to deal with this, almost driving straight into the front of the bin truck in his poor bewildered state. As he had his window down I thought it opportune to point out to him that stopping is probably his best option now. Amazingly, he did. Maybe he just needed some guidance. :)

    Bless them all.

putting the bike away this evening I notice that the saddle doesn't feel quite right when I touched it. On closer inspection the right hand rail has snapped just behind the clamp.

Should have gone for the new bike rather than replacing the wheels!
  • Are we really that worthless? By we, I mean me and my kids.
Can you really not wait a few more seconds to let me and the kids cross the road?
Complete and utter idiot in a black focus tonight almost wiped us all out.

As a rare treat and as a practice run for taking the kids to school by bike more often, the three of us (me and two kids) today cycled to and from school. My eldest on his bike cycling on the pavement, me and youngest on tagalong cycling on road alongside. Approaching a T junction and wanting to cross to turn right, narrow road, I take primary to maintain contact with my son and to avoid being left hooked. Black Focus approaches from behind, wanting to turn left but remains behind. We all waited for about 30/40 seconds which does seem an age when waiting for a suitable gap in traffic, and as soon as there was a gap I gave my eldest the nod to cross and we all push off. Black Focus man obviously could not wait and moved around me and the tagalong to left hook and almost took us all out.

What goes through the brains of these people?

Cheers, but the problem is that they're winter boots,so they're sealed.

In my 'summer' shoes I can just lift the insole out, and then you can flip the cleat plate round so that the damaged front holes become damaged rear holes (fnaar). But because these are all stiched and sealed up to stay waterproof I can't turn the plate around, or at least it wasn't as obvious as on my other shoes.

I'll have a proper go at it tomorrow.

Thanks for the offer though. :)

Bit of a personal question

But no. I think the bolts must have come loose, and then I've carried on clipping and unclipping, which has wiggled the bolts in the holes, so the thread is damaged and the holes themselves are cracked and 'flared' out.

Bit of a pain really. If I can turn the plates round then I'll be threadlocking the bolts.

I was wary of not overtightening them, because I did that to a Shimano shoe and it just stripped the thread out. so I did them up as tight as I felt I could without damaging them, the checked them regularly for the first month or so. They didn't need tightening then, but obviously did at some point in the last 2 weeks.
