  • Wheres everyone gone ? Surely you haven't given up for the winter ? Where's everyone riding now & when ?

There's still the regular ride heading out from Grips (Rayleigh shop) @ 7 pm on a Tuesday night if anyone is interested.

No I am right here. Been off work for a little while so i have been out of the saddle for ages. Enough whinning,
I think we are going to be running out of time to organise a ride over to Cannock Chase this year. Pherhaps we could do it early next year.
This is a feeler thread to see if anyone want to do a NEW YEAR'S DAY RIDE? if there is enough interest i will organise a ride stopping for some where to toast the new year, please let me know what you all think.

I'm up for meeting up with a few people to show me the way. Although I am still sooooooooo unfit!

I should be free NY days as well so I'm sure I can make it.

That isn't mud its just the hard ground has been lowered beneath the surface.

The mud at Thordon is easy going compared to many places.

I was over at Wendover on Sunday for a six hour ride and the mud was really serious.

So far Thordon has been pretty good for the 10 hours or so I ride there each week.

Epping so I have been told from a few sources is pretty bad.

    Dunno, never been to Brentwood.
But i can tell you that Langdon Hills is a nice XC circuit with a bit of everything - come along and find out for yourself.
We are meeting at the visitors centre off Lower Dunton Road. I'll be riding in from Basildon if anyone wants to join me.

I have an old rigid steel Carrera Gryphon in green.
We do a loop pretty similar to this one: http://www.thurrock.gov.uk/countryside/images/langdonhills.jpg and it takes as long as everyone wants it to take. As i said, no one gets left behind. Evening rides have often stopped at a pub, i don't know if Muddylegs knows somewhere we can stop for a tea or coffee tomorrow though.
  • the weather is going to be pants tomorrow we still ride what ever it throws at us.
  • is the peg leg dude 'rikk' heading out on sunday still. i need to ride big time havent hit essex for couple months. anybody else wanna ride tomorrow?

Rode Thorndon / Warley Gap this morning for 3 hours, rained most of the time.

Most of it still good in a muddy sort of way, kept off some good trails because overuse will just ruin them.

It's still a lot less muddy than Wendover which I rode last Sunday for 6 hours.

Will be out there tomorrow at 9am.

  • Sounds like we missed you guys by a hour or so. Due to previous commitments a group of us headed out a bit later.

We met up around 12 and headed out from Thorndon Country Park centre/carpark. Did various loops for a couple of hours headed back there for a cuppa then out over to Worley (I think, my mate who lives local to there was leading) for another hour or so.

Some great routes, just a pity about the conditions. Great fun all the same. Just trying to raise the enthusiasm to clean the bike now !!

Hopefully catch you guys another time. Who's up to what next Sunday ?

I don't think I'll be making any rides before the NY but I shall be up for as many rides as possible in the NY.
  • Who's up for a morning ride over Thorndon this Sunday ?

There's a few of us thinking of going over from the 'Grips' ride, be good to meet up with other people.

    Any one around ?

    Three questions:
    1. What time?
    2. Which end of Thorndon?
    3. Roughly how long do you usually ride for? (need to know how many brownie points this will cost me at home!)

all good for me sunday , let us know the time and i will be there.
the car park near the a127.
  • Aye, Thorndon South car park, the one as bazzz said, thats near the A127 & Halfway house Pub. how about a 9.00 meet ?

Length of ride depends on what you want to do but I suspect it'll be around 2 hours then maybe have a break and a cuppa then another hour or so but we can mix and match depending on who's there ability etc. no worries. All welcome.
