I can do saturdays only really at the moment, no lights
Possibly sundays depending on whether rugby is going ahead or not, what about you?0 -
looks like its saturday then . dont know what the weather is giong to be like but thats never stopped me going out before . is it muddy want to try out my new knobblys 8)0
-
Checked BBC weather for saturday should be dry weather wise, but not sure about the ground as it is supposedly raining on thursday, should be alright though.0
-
what time do you want to meet up and where . (car park or somthing )i take it there is a car park there?0
-
There is a car outside the visitor centre, there is also tesco's. After tesco there is a rocky decent that takes you round to the the lake then to the visitor centre, then there is the hill straight after.
Your choice really.0 -
wont be able to leave car at tescos for long so its got to be visitor centre start with a nice hill can only get better from there0
-
haha yeah ill try and think of a nice loop, how long/far did you want to ride for?0
-
last time i went to thorndon i did 30 miles  but if we go out for 2to3 hours well see what it brings might want to stay then again might want to go after the first hill ha how long/far do you go for?0
-
I have a 9 mile loop, but thats just after school etc, can easily make it larger using One Tree Hill, Gravel Hill and Westley Heights.0
-
any more rides planned?go flat out or fall out!0
-
Hello all. Is there still a reglar ride that goes from the south car park on a sunday. I used to be a regular over Thorndon but been off the bike for a while mainly due to work commitments. So going to build my fitness back up a bit over coming weeks and get back on the trails.0
-
went over to thordon for the first time yesterday but could do with going with somebody to act as my 'tourist guide' so that im not missing the best bits. never been to langdon hills, maybe i'll go this weekend.go flat out or fall out!0
-
For a guide over Thorndon, robertpb is your man. He been riding over there since the dawn of time and knows it better than the back of both hands. I ve ridden with him a few times and route was different everytime, but not in a confusing way so when your out alone you can piece together your own route.0
-
cool shit.
anyone riding anywhere local in the coming weekends? it always helps when you're riding with someone rather than on your tod.go flat out or fall out!0 -
I was over thorndon yesterday, and more likely next sunday too? Robert was overthere but i didnt feel quite up to it. i tell you what the cold air on your lungs was a killer!
Faster than i was expecting under wheel but still very boggy in places, only the one off so not too bad.0 -
Did a loop round Langdon yesterday - one that Muddylegs showed us last year.
Rode Thorndon 2 weeks ago and it was VERY muddy, had my 1st off in a long while...
A sustained period of no rain needed before I go again I reckon. My fave riding in the area though - thanks to VWSB's route on (?) Bikely. Have since found more over there. Happy to show route to anyone providing conditions allow it!0 -
i have found alot more since posting that, i meant to record it yesterday but forgot/distracted by the mud/rain/tyre change that i had to do.0
-
VWSurfbum
what time did you go thorndon ? got a tad busy with the joggers last time i went all had a good moan they did0 -
Grrrr, they get really snotty, especially when you point out that your the one on the cycle route not a jogging route!
we meet at 10.00 at the warley ski slope.
everything took twice as long and was twice as hard! got home much later than planned and my lungs still feel like there dying!0 -
How long did you ride for VWSB?
Is the 10am at Warley a regular?
Wouldn't mind coming along to find some more. I think it's some of the best riding within an hour of where I live (Grays).0 -
theres a few differnt groups who ride from there.
just turn up and ride! the first time i went i didnt know anyone, just tagged along.
your more than welcome to join me, i'm not going fast or very hard at the moment but i still like to ride.0 -
anyone about htis saturday?
would do something sunday but the gf has taken the day off for us to do something.go flat out or fall out!0 -
I might be about this saturday for a ride if anyones over maldon way?0
-
is it knobbleys  or will normal tyres do i know it will be muddy in the woods0
-
what ever you find works best in deep mud.
depending on what you want to do, there may be a small road section?0 -
some are saying maldon, others are saying throndon others are saying elsewhere. why dont we agree to meet up each weekend and try out each others localest trail. make it a different spot each week and each one takes it in turn to show the trails they usually use.go flat out or fall out!0
-
well a quad bike would work better in deep mud but that would really p##s the joggers off ( probally stick to knobblys )make my new wheels look pretty !!!!0
-
LOL about Quad!
Good idea about each week a different place!
never ridden maldon, i'm willing to give it a go?0 -
i dont have a quad bike but i do have and old go-kart i could get going lol.
shall we agree to ride in maldon this saturday then? i too havnt ridden in maldon other than when i was in my roadie days and would love to get to know some of the trails round there. my local trails (hockley woods) aint all that and i have only just started to go to hadleigh so im not up on the trails round there yet. it'll be good experience different places.go flat out or fall out!0 -
Theres a great trail along the sea wall, goes all the way to tollesbury, not very technical but quite pretty 8)0
