Checked BBC weather for saturday should be dry weather wise, but not sure about the ground as it is supposedly raining on thursday, should be alright though.
  • what time do you want to meet up and where . (car park or somthing )i take it there is a car park there?

There is a car outside the visitor centre, there is also tesco's. After tesco there is a rocky decent that takes you round to the the lake then to the visitor centre, then there is the hill straight after.
    Your choice really.
  • wont be able to leave car at tescos for long so its got to be visitor centre start with a nice hill can only get better from there

I have a 9 mile loop, but thats just after school etc, can easily make it larger using One Tree Hill, Gravel Hill and Westley Heights.

Hello all. Is there still a reglar ride that goes from the south car park on a sunday. I used to be a regular over Thorndon but been off the bike for a while mainly due to work commitments. So going to build my fitness back up a bit over coming weeks and get back on the trails.

went over to thordon for the first time yesterday but could do with going with somebody to act as my 'tourist guide' so that im not missing the best bits. never been to langdon hills, maybe i'll go this weekend.

For a guide over Thorndon, robertpb is your man. He been riding over there since the dawn of time and knows it better than the back of both hands. I ve ridden with him a few times and route was different everytime, but not in a confusing way so when your out alone you can piece together your own route.

    cool shit.
anyone riding anywhere local in the coming weekends? it always helps when you're riding with someone rather than on your tod.

I was over thorndon yesterday, and more likely next sunday too? Robert was overthere but i didnt feel quite up to it. i tell you what the cold air on your lungs was a killer!
Faster than i was expecting under wheel but still very boggy in places, only the one off so not too bad.

Did a loop round Langdon yesterday - one that Muddylegs showed us last year.

Rode Thorndon 2 weeks ago and it was VERY muddy, had my 1st off in a long while...

A sustained period of no rain needed before I go again I reckon. My fave riding in the area though - thanks to VWSB's route on (?) Bikely. Have since found more over there. Happy to show route to anyone providing conditions allow it!

Grrrr, they get really snotty, especially when you point out that your the one on the cycle route not a jogging route!
we meet at 10.00 at the warley ski slope.
everything took twice as long and was twice as hard! got home much later than planned and my lungs still feel like there dying!

How long did you ride for VWSB?

Is the 10am at Warley a regular?

Wouldn't mind coming along to find some more. I think it's some of the best riding within an hour of where I live (Grays).

what ever you find works best in deep mud.
depending on what you want to do, there may be a small road section?

some are saying maldon, others are saying throndon others are saying elsewhere. why dont we agree to meet up each weekend and try out each others localest trail. make it a different spot each week and each one takes it in turn to show the trails they usually use.

  • well a quad bike would work better in deep mud but that would really p##s the joggers off :D ( probally stick to knobblys )make my new wheels look pretty !!!!

Theres a great trail along the sea wall, goes all the way to tollesbury, not very technical but quite pretty 8)
