Really enjoyed the ride. Have to admit to being whacked when I got home

Timmo - how's the knee? That was a proper injury
SA Boy - you get the bike sorted? That was a real bu66er - so early into the ride too!

Has a time been arranged for Monday? Or am I just blind?!

Dazza - No way! I gave up on SN a while ago - a few real nasty characters on there.

R32 was good - but got too much attention when we live in Bristol so had to go after £3k's worth of vandalism (2 failed attempts to nick the wheels):cry:

Astra is a lot slower but much more practical (150PS CDTi estate).
Jimny is just a little toy for larking about in :D

That's pathetic, then again wouldn't surprise me, i helped a mate move to fishponds and right away i spotted a few unsavouries.

You would think they would see a set of locking wheel nuts and leave the thing alone, im glad for living down here, if anything does go missing it doesn't take too long to suss who might have done it.

Yeah i saw that argument on sn a while back, they are a very clique/judgemental bunch of folks, but a few mean well so it's good so long as you ignore all the trolls.

They don't seem to know what to make of me and so give me a wide berth for which im grateful for, ive seen some nastiness on that place but meh i can run them down fairly easily so they wouldn't dare. ;)

Me and paul hapgood seem to get on well for the most part but that chocolate o brian is a bit of an arrogant plank, i put it down to his youth.

I had an astra club 1.7cdti for a courtesy car a while back, nippy little thing with a tank that went on forever but you can see it's geared for families as everythings rubber lol

It loved bp ultimate derv yet the scoob abhors the unleaded stuff.

The Golf has three sets of locking wheel nuts - I think the thieves got frustrated so stoved the wing and other bits in - Clifton is VERY bad for car crime - no such trouble in Malpas!

Paul H is a top bloke indeed. Say hi to him from me.

1.7CDTi is a bit weedy (80 or 100PS compared to 120 or 150 for the 1.9CDTi) but works okay and uses almost no fuel!

Anyway, taking over with the car talk and probably boring the rest of the club to tears so back to MTBing!

Got some splendid little scratches and one half decent cut but put well and truly to shame by Timmos mega gash. OUCH!

Yeah i must have a nose at that, must have hurt a fair bit.

My shins are plastered in scratches, i must do my homework before each ride instead of throwing the gear in the car and heading out.#

Though i landed on the nose of my saddle arse first, that didn't half bring tears to my eyes, im tempted to by some schwalbe black shark mud tyres after that ride. ;)

Any chance of a postcode if im thinking where your are talking about would that be the wooded area that goes from portreath road to illogan and so technically isn't tehidy?

Im thinking of moving back to shimano spd's im fed up with the egg beaters not letting me know if im engaged plus they aren't that stable.

On a plus note my sidi studs have arrived and are fitted, they're very long, should be great in the mud. :D

Why not just meet at the main tehidy car park, it's much easier to find surely?

Well ive figured out alexandra road.

Aah i think i know where you mean, it's like a side entrance into tehidy, it doesn't actually make a showing on google.

I'll give timmo my mobile number as i plan to ride there.

Either way i'll let him know whether im coming or not closer to the time, the weather doesn't bode well but then again it didn't for the past two days neither and they got that one wrong.

Main car park is easy, turn left at end of alexandra, down colt road, at first crossroads turn right and down that road you will see the main enterance to tehidy, plus the cafe might be open there anyway.

  • Dazza, are you going to put your mud tyres on? or going to take a chance with the semi slicks !!!!
  • my knee is Proper hurting today!! really painful to walk on, and is still swollen quite significantly! but gave me an excuse to bring out the shorts before the end of the month!!!:D (jeans rubbed it like mad!)

not sure on monday ride now due to inability to use right leg, but at the worst might walk up and bring the camera and see if i can find you around the woods!!

Spooky, Aim for Portreath, go up portreath hill and turn left at the top, follow that road for approx 1/2 - 3/4 miloe and the carpark is ont he right! (wooden bollards by the entrance!)

it will be slippy but good fun so really hoping the knee fix's its self very quickly!!!!!

Fire xc pro's will be plenty enough, i hope.

Trouble with mud tyres being they're usually only good in the mud, once out they become loose and scrabbly.

But anyway i have studs on the sidi's now and some xtr spd pedals, the eggbeaters faults broke this camels back yesterday.

Least i can now play with the engaging force.

The tree roots will certainly be fun.

I may buy some panaracer cinder cone tyres in the future but we'll see.

If I come along, I'm going to use my "semi slicks" (sort of) and I'd rather improve my non slipping skills than change my tyres.
Although it was tricky, it was also great fun - bit like speedway motorbiking but off road!

Just managed an 8k trail run (also very muddy) so knee now considered sorted.

Timmo - is there any underlying muscle/tendon damage? If there is, I'd rest it for a bit - you were very near some supporting muscles with that scrape and any heavy bruising will affect the stability of your knee joint - better to rest it for a bit and keep it cleaner than SA Boy's Scott!

  • Matt, yeah i think there could be matey! it certainly is Very painful! althoguh okay to cycle on (test ride around the block on mates bike) but really isnt good to walk on!
is still quite swollen and hot to touch and throbbing! so i htink a rest is in call for! wife said about sorting me out with some tubigrip (she's had knee problems all he rlife) so think i will give that a go abnd see if it helps! if its no better by tuesday then i'll pop over the road to the doc's!
i dont think its possible to keep it cleaner than shane's scott! although i did spot soem dirt on it before the ride sunday so there is hope hahaha!

helen, i wish it was a flesh wound! it is actually very deep! think it took a lot of the force of my landing! ooops! knew there was a reason no one else took that route back onto the fire roady bit!

You could try some arnica cream and some devils claw, should reduce the pain and swelling a reasonable amount, just rest up as others have said.

You never know you might be raring to ride come monday ;)

Seeing as you have cut it wide open id avoid tubigrip, i badly burned my foot a year ago and got covered in the stuff, docs had a job to take it off and ended up taking most of the scab along with it, at least have some non stick dressing on it if you do decide to go ahead.

Get about a pint of NewSkin on it. That will cure what ails you!
  • No worries Helen, someone has to be incharge of Comedy moments everyweek!! :D at least the bike was fine! just a retightening of the steerer and alls good! (although somehow on the ride i managed to shake a ball bearing out of my rear hub!! - cone and cup)

Daz, plenty of that matey! melolin nappyliners etc! am trying to let it dry naturally, but because its right on the knee cap its a bit tricky!!!

Anyone can feel free to drop in on monday and have a chuckle after tehidy!!!!
