looks awful for the wrists near the hoods, wont even get a good grip on it due to how wide it is.

Actually, it feels great. Really really great. :D Got some bar tape today which'll be going over the top.

If the bar tape isn't enough - maybe you should get yourself some nice padded gloves too - mine are dirty, but you can get some nice new clean ones:

That is the worst thing I have ever seen.

    Idiot's checklist:
Fattest/ugliest bars in the world: Check
Bottle cage* cable tied to Top tube: Check
    Spoke card: Check
...with a Pokemon on it: Check
Fakenger sticker on a geared Road bike (???): Check
Saddle bag cable tied in place: Check

Sort all that out and it will be fine...

    *Get one of these:

This used to be my commuter/courier bike. Disc wheel now removed and put on my current courier bike.

Check out the extreme bar tape. (Still not finished).

Doing a custom paint job in a couple of weeks so i'll post another pic when it's done.

This is the only bike I've seen in this thread that makes me feel ill.

I'm not one for commenting on the bikes of others, especially if it's something negative, but the wrongness of this thing is 'Hors Categorie'.

Much has been mentioned already, so I'm going to focus on the overuse of electrical tape. What happened? You started wrapping the tape over the sausages you've clearly got hidden underneath, then decided to just keep going with a spiral finish right to the end of the bars?

Still some left? No problem, just use it to make your seatpost look like a barber's pole. Oh, and then whack what looks like a heraldic crest on the front.

Go away, sort it out and then come back...

Seriously, if you need that much foam on the bars to get comfortable, then there's something wrong with either you, the bike, or possibly both.

The tape is probably there to hold the bike together with the forces generated by his furiously high cadence

Is their actually something wrong with being a cycle messenger on a geared road bike? I'd prefer it to a fixie.

And whilst I'm in here, if you could refer to the picture of my CAAD9, would it look better with black Aksium wheels? Thinking of changing.

No, messengers ride all sorts, but the pro couriers who spend all day every day on a bike often prefer fixed wheel bikes because of the low maintenance. This developed into a trend and so all couriers seem to ride fixed and it spilled over to the trendy london crowd.

The word fakenger is used to describe someone who has copied a courier's bike (ie. a trendy "fixie" for the sake of a trendy "fixie") and fashion sense without being a courier. Not only has bhima not copied a courier's bike or style, but he's also an actual courier! Sticking it on a fixed bike with no brakes might be acceptable, well not acceptable, but at least it'd make sense.

That's exactly why they call me a fakenger. ;) i.e. - I am an actual courier who doesn't ride fixed (and I also used to use a ruck-sack - quite un-typical of a messenger). The sticker was put there by a courier mate who was taking the pi55. Tried to peel it off but it's impossible to remove!

I knew posting the pic would get you bike snobs cheesed-off, it's exactly why I did it! I'll post up a pic of the re-furbished bike when it's done. Getting a new drivetrain too. :D

    ...oh, and that's not a pokemon card. It's from this: http://cantgoslo.blogspot.com/2009/03/h ... -2009.html

Got loads more spoke cards too from other alley-cats, just on the other bike.

Not cheesed off, just incredulous that someone would do that to a nice bike! I mean, what did you do, spray your bike in glue and then ride it into a display stand at Halfords?

Hehe I seen bhima in that vid.

That "race" whilst not looking like much of a race seems fun but at the same time silly and makes you think it's these sort of things that make drivers really hate cyclists, when you are on the wrong side of the road and having lots of near misses with cars.

Here's my new ride. Yes, yes I know it doesn't quite fit the photography criteria, and the QRs are all over the shop.

exactly. It's the equivalent of lads in corsas doing handbrake turns in a car park.

And they appear to be going about 15 mph max, well, when they're not walking uphill.

It's not whether or not it's a pokemon card that matters.

It's the fact that as an adult you'd still consider putting cards in your spokes at all that speaks volumes.

So how are these courier races done? I mean there is a Marshall on every corner? How long are the courses each time?

Do they let non couriers do it? I'd like to see where I'd come, seems this "clodge" guy wins every time.
