    Markmod,

What are the mudguard flaps on your raceblades?
Are they bought or home made?
    How are they fixed?
    Do they work?!!

    Look like a neat solution
Coach H. (Dont ask me for training advice - 'It's not about the bike')

    Hi again,

Yes I agree I am being very very careful in picking my days out on the CR1, dry and frost free so far and shortish runs so far. Softly softly really, I was riding to work on the MTB before I got the Scott but with the weather recently and the S*^@ load of work I haven't been doing either bike commute lately... Hey heres to some further dry spring days!!

Re the guards Coach H they are SKS raceblades and came with the flaps fitted, and yes they do work, when I tested the set up of the bike recently (when I picked it up) the roads were very very Sh*@*^y but I gave the bike an inspection after the ride and all it needed was a small wipe over, the guards/ flaps caught most of the crap before it got to the bike!! I got the cycle mudguards when I got my bike from the excellent team at Epic cycles http://www.epic-cycles.co.uk and if they are good enough for Cav then they are good enough for me too!!

Hmm.....they're growing on me, I'd really like to try some, they are apparently really comfortable - even better than the old type.....

To be fair I am used to shimano hoods so it is the first time that I have ridden, for any length of time, on campag hoods. They do seem to offer a greater variety of hand positions than the Shims and so far I have found them very comfortable.

I particularly like the fact that I can hold them whilst making a fist, if you see what I mean, great when you have really got to grit your teeth!!

Am I the only one who hates flat bar bikes? And what's going on with those cables...looks like they're in a hurry to go some place..know what I mean? Perhaps it was being dragged into a vortex at the time....might explain why the saddle's on the wonk?

I actually have a specialized sirrus and its what got me into cycling in the first place so I wont hear a word said against it! Fantastic bike, great for commuting and general touring.

NaB i have to say i agree with you WTF is up with my cables will sort them out, as for your comment on "hating flat bars", well that is your opinion but im sure im not the only one in the world who would disagree with your statement, but any way each to there own.

It would be a shame if everyone submitted to my fascist views about bike aesthetics...I salute you! I'm guilty of many sins including running 4 spacers on top of a stem at one point...that and failing to tighten a rear brake shoe which fell off into the road mid group ride...much to my club mates amusement...I could go on....

Don't get me wrong I like most bikes and can appreciate modern looking bikes( especially Orbea's Orca) but there is something classy about steel framed bikes. I bet you look a million dollars out on this on a bright summers day.

Benji90 - loving the pictures of the Pinarello.

My Snow White FP3 is on order but delivery not expected until APRIL.

March is gonna be a long, long month.
  • Ok, here's my project which is nearly finished. Just need to decide on bar tape and fettle the rear brake, oh and wait on my pedals arriving. And oh again, decide on bottle cages!!

Ignore saddle height, it's that height as I don't want to risk marking it before getting pedals and getting the height set probably (probably got to go in another 5 to 6 inches)

2006 Parlee Z3, Reynolds forks, King headset, Syntace P6 seatpost, Spesh Ti Toupe, Record 10spd with compact cranks, Planet X carbon wheels, Tune stem and Schmolke bars.
