Don't take this the wrong way but it looks like you got the fit miles wrong.

OK, a large drop is fine if you want it that way. But what you have there is effectively a 4cm or 5cm stem (maybe even less) - that really affects the handling - even when I use a 9cm stem I can tell a large difference from a 11cm stem.

Perhaps you should have got a smaller frame with shorter top tube and head tube, and then you could have run a "proper" stem angle and length

He'll yeah, it's the first thing I did!! When you spend such a substantial figure on a bike you would have expected a half decent saddle but no they give you a really bog standard one! Still, some fool paid me twenty quid for it on ebay! I love your ride though, great set of wheels too!

That's a pretty good looking bike. What wheels & tyres do you have there? Do you find they make much of a difference?

  • Ahh, yee, do like the bars nice and low. Thats a slightly old pic, I have actually brought them up alittle for comfort.

As for the ride, here are the following bits and pieces I've stuck on

    Shimano 105 Wheel set
    Hutchinson Equinox Blue tires
    Specialized Toupe 143 Team Saddle
Some crazyass stem, can't remember the make.

Defo, the wheels and thinner, racer tires make a HUGE difference. Climbing hills is so much easier now as well. They really are nice, and transform the look of the bike. Would highly recommend them. Haven't punctured on those tires yet, after 300 miles.

PM me if you want any more info.

This is my latest addition, which I picked up just before Christmas. I had to wait quite a long time but hopefully you'll agree that she is a beauty.

    IMG_0394.jpg

I was expecting the bike to come with a Sora Groupset but the front mech has been upgraded to Tiagra and the rear mech is 105.

I love my new bike :D

PS I have taken the reflectors off and flipped the stem while I get used to it.

nice bike I got the silver and red gavia but im wishing i would have got your colours now ive joined ferryhill wheelers CC and they ride in blue and white.just acquired some carbon bottle cages for mine.whats yours like up hills my seems to really be responsive?
    what wheelset does yours have?
  • It's great going up hills, however it is my first road bike so I am fairly un-knowledgable, The wheelset are Shimano Kronos?, but I ma thinking of changing them for some R500's, RS20's or maybe even some Mavic Aksiums in black.

they look nice .hard to tell with it being your first bike.but i have a old steel gt road bike and the difference is unbelievable.rs20's seem good wheels and the 105 wheelset is good too. They are probably crap wheels but i seem tempted to try rodi airline's.
