You need to upload them to somewhere before they will show up on here. You can't link from your computer.

Simplest place is here www.imageshack.us Just press browse, select the picture then click host it. It will give you a link in there then.

Always thought the Orange 5 was an ugly bike :/

I thought this too untill i bumped into someone in my local woods who has one- He was talking away and i was just transfixed on his bike, drooling :) Pictures just don't do it justice, you really have to see one in the mettal. A little too expensive for me though, and think i will need the added strength of the Pitch/Reign, still can't decide

I'm something between 5'9" to 5'10" and the large was way too big (bars felt miles away) I sat on a medium comp and it felt right.

This is by no means an ugly bike:

Thanks, not sure if I'm going to get a chance to sit on one if I do end up ordering one.

Hey, here's a game we could play all day!!!

    No it isn't!
  • ciarran500 where you based, does no one have one in locally ? you really should at least sit on one or take out a demo bike everyone is different even if your the same height as the guy further up in the thread. my lbs has a test bike in medium.

I'm in Dublin, Ireland. Not really a booming MTB scene around here :/

There is one Spesh dealer in town but they're not great and not cheap. They were looking for about £1600 for an 07 Stumpy Comp last time I was in there. I'll try my best to get a ride on one before I commit to it but theres a good chance I won't be able too.
  • I bought my Pitch PRO without even seeing or sitting on one!

Yes, was a little worried that I wouldnt like it but nothing could be further from the truth!

Not worried about that, every picture I see I want one more. :(

But at 6'2" I seem to be in the cross over between a medium and large bike so not sure what I'd need.

    At 6'2" surely you'd want a large..?!

I sat on the large and it was too big but I'm 5'10" ish. I could reach the bars but I'd have been uncomfy after a bit of time in the saddle.

The Medium was perfect for me so I reckon it would be a bit cramped for you...
  • Yep i got a Medium, Im 5'11 and its fine for me!

Have seen my pics of my Pro?

    Are you buying one then?

    Comp or PRO?

Yepp! :D I'm gonna get the Pro, and probably chuck some Juicy sevens/fives on it. Depends how good the Juicy threes are :D - Are they any good?

I went out for my first proper ride on my Pitch Comp Yesterday, went with teh lad next door who's been riding for Eon's and is much fitter than I am and much more confident.

I was about to die halfway round keeping up with him on his Meta 5.2, I found my pitch to be an awesome ride, very confidence inspiring allowing me to do things like kinda manualing over mud puddles and hopping over ditches with soo much ease compared to my GT Aggressor 2.0.

I very nearly went for a bath in a large puddle of mud but jumped clear of the bike in time

Had a cracking ride, taking on descents (all be them smallish - tis Delamere forest) but rutted, wet, slippy and covered in roots and I didn't come a croper once.

My mate had a go aswell and said it compared very nicely to his Meta :D

It really is a superb bit of kit, granted the "big" dual compound tyres don't exactly roll through freshly defrosted sludge very well but the grip like buggery on corners, which is handy.

We got back home caked in brown sandy sludgy mud and I atleast was thourougly cream crackered. cracking ride and all round brilliant AFAIK
  • How many turns does the Pike need to be screwed down to 95 mm from 140 mm?

    Cheers! :D

I believe it's about 7mm per turn on Tora U-turns... I would guess the pikes would use a similar system...

shame you can't get the pitch in the lovely lemon yellow this side of the pond... the brown is not too bad... more like a bronze!!! :)

A friend got a "soiled" 06 Enduro Expert Test Bike from Evans Gatwick showroom about a month ago. It's sturdy, but he can cope with the climbs such as the XC at Cwm Carn without any difficulty, but it is a bit on the heavy side. Nice bike though I'm not sure I would pay top whack for it...

hehe, i have one of those too. ex demo expert, and i agree, it is slightly heavy, and the colour isnt too great!

  • Just got back from a weekend of uplift courtesy of Pearce Cycles in Ludlow. Saturday was Bringewood (that track rocks!) and today was Eastridge (shorter but still well fun-packed). All I can say is that the Pitch stood up to the test on pretty much everything these downhill courses threw at it and came out with no problems. I say pretty much because on the old national DH track at Bringewood (with the triple jump just before the fire-road), I needed at least another inch of travel on the forks over a couple of really steep drops. Apart from that I am amazed that it could mix it with the best of them. OK, it is NOT a DH machine and it looks a bit piddly next to the hardcore DH rigs, but fuck me it can hold its own pretty well. Thanks Specialized, you provided me with a bike that can rip down most DH tracks, and still be light enough to go on an all-dayer with my XC mates too! What a bike!
  • My Pitch PRO is awesome, I love it! And it loves Dalby!

Did you go for the PRO or Comp!
  • I went for the Pro... by the way, not sure if anyone would want to change them or not but the max limit for longer travel forks on the pitch is 160mm

Yes the Pitch goes to 160mm, bet its eaven b etter with a pair of Lyrics!

I have upgraded my Pitch PRO:

    Juicy 7's with 203mm rotors
    X9 Shifters
    PG990 Cassette (red)
    PG991 Chain
    08 XT Crankset
    Lizard Skin Peaty Lock ons

Its a pretty good ride now and dont really need any upgrades on it now.

What do you think of the tyres? I reckon there quite good in the wet!

  • For the uplift I went for a Minion DH Super Tacky 2.5 at the front and a Michelin All Mountain 2.35 at the rear. No tyre slipping in the mud with these babies! The Specialized Pro tyres that came with the Pitch were quite big, but did not have much sidewall protection, and tended to slip a bit on berms and in the wet. I found the grips OK

So, are people still happy with their Pitches? :D

Hoping to get one on the cycle to work scheme - think I can only really afford the comp though.
