Terrible photo - apologies - but things are coming on now. Everything except the chainset and BB transferred from the other frame and I need to buy tape and cables.

What is up with your white balance? Looks like you live in a post-apocalyptic dystopian world of blue. Bit like this forum, really.

:D I was more intrigued with the manhole in the middle of the kitchen floor, then wondered whether there was a Rule regarding matching tyres. Nevertheless, good work Ben!

I suspect the manhole would be something to do with it being an extension to the original building. Seeing as I don't live there and I'm not Ben's crazed stalker I cannot be sure.

I'm just glad there's a manhole and not a rat [in me kitchen, what am I gonna do?].

I have no idea why it's there - currently in a shared house - but I don't think its extension-related as the house is the same size as all the others in the street.

Anyway, back to the bike. Thanks for the positive comment, Dr Lex! I am dead excited to have it fully built up. It's my birthday soon and I am hoping that will generate the remaining parts required. [skint] [/skint]

My 2009 Campagnolo Veloce groupset (Khamsin wheels) is going on it and I am looking for a good deal on the Ritchey WCS Classic handlebars. Ritchey stem no doubt, as well. I'll post pics when it's done (in a month or so - budget constraints! :D)
Dont suppose you weighed the frameset?

    Sorry, no.

But website says 54cm weighs 1.8kg. It's lardy, but spot on for the 2nd bike duties.

It's a Philips SafeRide 60; the larger, battery-powered version is on the 'bars. The rear 'guard one is a Busch & Müller; both from Amazon.de, but would also recommend rosebikes.co.uk (English skin on a German site) for a good range of dynamo lights.

Nice bike! Is that the 8 or the 11 speed? What do you think of the frame?

Thanks; 11 speed. Frame geometry is unfortunately giving me some toe overlap (mudguards not helping) and a little heel scuff (if SPD shoes not square on the pedals); large frame and size 44 shoes, so a bit disappointing. Heavy (thanks to the Alfine & disks), but feels solid. Noticeable road buzz through the forks & bars, but my only other points of reference are a front suspension MTB and a carbon frame with Zertz inserts. I'm only 5-10% slower on the (pretty flat) commute than on the Roubaix (below). Looking forward to the ease of dynamo lighting to save charging & swapping main lights. Discs not yet used in anger in the wet, but enjoying shiny rims on a year-old bike (thank you, eBay).

Thank you; it's a Topeak RX rack, so I use one of their trunk bags - think it's the EX (without drop-down panniers). Size adequate for shirt, lunch, iPad and other odds'n'sods. If I was touring or using panniers, I'd have gone with a full rack.

That's rather nice, Ben6899. What are the specs, and how does it ride?
Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.

Thanks for the kind words, chaps.

It rides really nice. I managed to nip out this morning early before breakfast to put in a few laps of Regents Park as a kind of test ride and I am chuffed to bits, to be honest. It's responsive and comfortable and - with the bars lowered a couple of spacers - I think it's going to feel the perfect fit.

Spec as follows (layout stolen from Your Road Bikes over there --->)

    Frame: Dolan Preffisio (aluminium)
    Forks: Alpina (carbon)
Bars: Ritchey WCS Classic (aluminium, shallow drop)
    Stem: Felt 2.1 (aluminium, 100mm)
    Headset: Alpina integrated
Bar Tape: Fizik Microtex (black w/ silver logo)

    Shifters: Campagnolo Veloce 2009 Ultra-Shift
Front Caliper: Campagnolo Veloce 2009 Dual Pivot
    Shifters: Campagnolo Veloce 2009 Ultra-Shift
Rear Caliper: Campagnolo Veloce 2009 Single Pivot

Cables: Campagnolo original spare parts (Ultra-Low Friction)
    Front Mech: Campagnolo Veloce 2009
    Rear Mech: Campagnolo Veloce 2009

    Saddle: Giant
    Seat Post: Alpina (aluminium)
    Seat Post Clamp: Alpina

    Cranks: Campagnolo Veloce 2009
    Chainring(s): 50/34
    Chain: Campagnolo Veloce 2009
    Cassette: Campagnolo Veloce 2009 12-25
Pedals: Look KEO Classic (in red w/black)
Bottom Bracket: Campagnolo Veloce 2009 Ultra-Torque

    Front Wheel: Campagnolo Khamsin G3
    Tire: Bontrager Race X-Lite (black/yellow)

    Front Wheel: Campagnolo Khamsin G3

    here we go, then.
My one and only except for the written off raleigh from last year.
Japanese steel frame and forks (has Japanese shop/service stickers under the bb)
components are various Japanese brands - araya, nitto, suntour etc. Except the spec romin saddle and the px al30 wheels with Blizzard sport tires which have been my only upgrades.
    14 speed, 52/42 - 24/13 if I remember right.

No idea on weight. I'm led to believe its good for a steel frame by the people that pick it up though.

thankyou! How are you finding the dolan? Looks nice! I'm eyeing up one of their track frames for a possible +1 next year, will probably depend on how sucked into the Olympics I get, but it'll only take one nasty crash to be shown to put me off going anywhere near a velodrome ever.
