Apparently so...... Bonj is the expert on these matters.
As that 19% is 42,000 people, at bonj's occupancy rate of 3 per bus, that's 14,000 buses.
First South Yorkshire run 580 buses across their area of Sheffield, Doncaster, and Rotherham....

Are you sure it was 19%, or 0.19%? Think you've got your decimal points in the wrong place there, lad.

Nor at all gibberish, young Bonj, just pointing out that you do not understand the difference between statistically-significant evidence and anecdote. Which would suggest you are so gullible you would buy a flying saucer.
Now, do you claim not to believe the national census, or do you simply disregard it as being untrue because it's from the government and (cont'd p94).
Can we have an example of a source of evidence, apart from your own hallucinations, that you do trust? Hint: linking to that site about giant lizards again would not be sound debating tactics....

And yet again, we see that Tw*tty* Tone has nothing sensible to post, so resorts to childish gibberish.

Just testing Tony- wanted to see who was awake!0 -
And you've spectacularly failed in your quest to prove your mad assertions.
The average loading of an urban bus is much higher than you allege. You've ignored all the evidence contrary to your views, instead choosing to base your whole argument on a dubious interpretation of a statistically insignificant set of observations.
Here's a clue on bus loadings: the capacity of all passenger transport fleets are based on peak loadings. The X78, for example, would not have double decks (70 seats) on it, if single deck (40 seats) vehicles would suffice.

"THE" challeng- no, that was your challenge. I set out to prove that of a random sample of buses, lots have absolutely no-one on, and the average is usually about 3.
By stamping your feet and claiming that's invalid proves that you recognise that the only time the average number of people on a bus might just manage to top 5 is in peak times, and has to be a non-representative sample at that.

Bonj. I live a short walk from Telford Avenue bus garage. This is about one and a half miles from Brixton tube. I can walk to the bus stop, wait an average of two minutes, catch a bus, often a bus that starts at the garage and is therefore empty, and that bus will, at anytime between 7.30 and 9, be full by the time it gets to Brixton. People who live near to Brixton tube stand and wait, and full buses sweep past them.
Equally. One can, at certain times of the day, wait for six trains to come through before you get to the front of the queue to get on a train from Clapham Junction to Victoria in the morning. It can take six trains to come through before you can get on a tube from London Bridge toward Kings Cross in the morning - and they come through at less than two minute intervals.
Only the bus can save our cities from congestion. It's time to make zones 1 and 2 in London car free, and to paint the town red with bus lanes. And whatever it takes in subsidy will be worth it to relieve the siege of our towns from within by motorists.0 -

Let's not forget which bastion of statistical seriousness and truthfulness was the vehicle that Chris Moyles tried to get as many people as possible to put their religion down as "Star Trek" in order to try to get it recognised as an official religion. Yep, the 'national census'.
I'm slightly confused about the compulsion of the national census. Are people legally obliged to fill it in? If they are, then a lot of people who don't really want to do it are just going to rush it off and tick the first answer to each question. If they're not, then it's only statistically representative of the people that choose to fill it in.
When was the last one anyway? Good few years ago.

It was "jedi", Bonj.
Answer this question: do you ever accept any evidence that goes against your preconceived views?

Oh yes, for sure, on many topics.... I can't think of any off the top of my head, but you might be able to suggest one?

Which makes sense, actually - on the "how do you get to work" question, 'Bus' is probably going to be the first answer alphabetically. Which is why so many people ticked it.

Some homework for you bonj: DfT's transport statistics page.

Say thank you for all the free help you are getting from the transport professionals on this forum.[;)]0 -
"Transport professionals" ?! [:D] Guff. You're no more a 'Transport professional' than you are a 'climate change professional'. Just accept the truth, which is that buses are an unnecessary nuisance, and move on. No amount of attempting to baffle me with government statistics and non-evidence is going to convince me otherwise.

Going back to the original theme of the thread, Montbigot has bought himself a car [:D] I can't believe he is even attempting to justify this decision in the rags. I notice he can be sanctimonious even when he follows the rest of us sheep who use tin boxes [;)]
It reminds me of the hypocritical posturing which goes on with Malcolm and Cressida in the 'Modern Parents' comic strip (Viz) [:D]
