Interesting post and very timely given Mr Brailsford's recent award and foray into the headlines. They're a great charity and really into their cycling (I did London to Paris with them last year).
If you want to put that up as post on its own in Sportives and Road Rides I'll keep the thread simmering and we'll see if we can generate some interest as most people are looking to sort out their 2009 programme around about now.
    Cheers

Would love to but not really sure how to start post on it's own. If you can cut and paste it onto the site and pass me the details I will have some people at work start some posts. I have pasted it onto the intranet at work which is viewed by over 800 people so it should get some new participants

    Cheers David

Had a great run with David this morning at a reasonable pace.

Met at Linlithgow Bridge and headed to back roads to Boness ,Blackness,Winchburgh,Kirkliston,Dalmeny,South Queensferry,Lanes back to Winchburgh,Faucheldean (was not tempted to sprint!!! ) then back to Linlithgow. It was a bit windy for the return frm South Queensferry, but not a drop of rain.

There were few other hardy souls up the alps.....

I shall be out Saturday this week,(Slammannan anyone?)and I hope the legs will be OK..

    Cheers

Excellent Bill!, look forward to some ROCK next week then!!

Xmas shopping on Saturday so will try and get out for a Sunday run this week.

P.S. Got a message from my mate who's in Stirling BC

They are looking to get some interest in the Super6 races next year and try to get 6 members to take part in the B races as a team.

    Here's a copy of the message: -

Are you interested in trying racing but but :

    - don't think your good enough?
    - Scared of getting dropped?
    - Have never done it before?
    - Need a little encouragement?

Fear not fellow newbie-racer - help is at hand!

    The Super 6 Series:

The super six B races are aimed at Cat 4 (novice) and veteran (40+) cyclists, and are a good way of getting your hand in racing. They are around 50-60miles long, and are lapped circuits.

    When are they?

    - Sun 8th March
    - Sat 4th April
    - Sun 3rd May
    - Sun 7th June
    - Sun 5th July
    - Sat 5th Sept

    Note: 2009, Provisional Dates

    How would it work?

Well basically, SBC riders would ride as a squad - and dependant on numbers, stick together or break up working for stronger / weaker riders etc. This will give those who have never raced an insight into racing, as well as raise the clubs profile.

The objective would not be to win, but to gain race experience!

In order for this to work, we would need around 6 riders at each event - that way we would have a nicely sized squad making the work a lot easier for all.

    Cost:

Races are around £15 per entry - and a race licence would be required (free bronze membership is avail to all members). Club top would need to be worn also (keep the sponsors happy! :D)

Right - count me in as well - the racing that is, not the tatoos.

Am seriously thinking about thinking about the cyclo x on 4th January too

I am off to Endra today to collect the samples of jerseys and shorts so that everyone can see the material types, finish and seat insert quality.
Once I get them I will get a meeting arranged for all to have a look at and we can agree or disagree on the way forward.
If we order in January we will receive an additional 5% discount on the order and they will be ready for the first week in Feb.

Good news! Won't have to get the tatoos done now!
  • Unlike the mice I'm gutted - it's one of my favourite stop offs if I've been over the Common of Dunning road. Hope they get the place straightened out before the summer.
