Brian,
The only difference with the wheels are the depth of the rims. The 1450 will offer more comfort with their shallow rims making them better for longer rides. The 1850 are very responsive and fast feeling because of the deep section rims which is great for racing, time trialling or shorter rides where comfort is not so much of an issue. Build quality from DT is very high though and they should prove to be reliable.
Keith - All geometries will be in our new brochure which is due out within a few weeks, then on our updated website soon after.
For those who do not like this thread, just don't read it. Like I said before it hs been interesting for me to see what kind of reaction there is to it, if it is needed on our website and how do we present it, etc. Of course for general enquiries the best way is to phone or email the shop.BERNIN RUBBER0 -

you really shouldn't be posting here on a Sunday but .... I've just arrived at the office for a couple of hours without interuptions so I realy can't speak.0 -
Bern, do Condor have a hybrid bike- something that is light, flatbars, compact chainset. I know you stock the Ridgebacks, but was really impressed with what I saw at the show this year. My other half has œ1000 budget- can you advise?
HelenHelen0 -
John,
I know, but I have to keep up to date with emails from home. I usually get to the office very early to get those 2 uninterupted hours like you.
Helen,
We do both a hybrid with flat bars, rack/guard capability, v-brakes and up to 35mm tyres and a flat bar road bike which can also take a rack/guard, but with 23mm road tyres and can be specified with double, triple or compact set-ups. Some of the new 07 Specialized Sirrus range is also impressive, but not all in stock yet.
A œ1,000 budget would get a pretty impressive flat bar roadbike.BERNIN RUBBER0 -
I think Bern has shown a big commitment here to customer service, so don't knock it.
Halfords aren't here for the same reasons I don't shop at Halfords - they don't care and they aren't commited and I can't trust them.
Well done Bern, but you should get your own forum on your website before this thread gets out of hand. And get some help with it!

We've checked out the Specialized and the Sirrus pro is good- but hate the colour!! Maybe we'll pop down when we've a moment to have a look. What is the smallest frame you do? top tube length?

Sorry, I love Condor's and have been using them long before they moved. Forgive me Bern, BUT, why can't you ladies and gentlemen just e-mail them directly, phone or pop into the shop to discuss your needs? This is a knowhow (technical) forum not a sales advice centre. A couple of questions were OK but now it's over fifty. I have opened the thread several times thinking that there might be some useful technical information there and all it is is people asking questions about what Condor has in stock. Let's start an Ask Ribble thread and find out what they have in the North of the country, or an Ask Halfords thread and find out what the rest of the country has to offer.
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote"><i></i><center></center>
Don't knock it RBSF. Condor's have a fine reputation only enhanced by this kind of customer satisfaction which is rare. This is what an LBS is supposed to function like and outfits such as Ribble or Halfords (good grief how can you compare?) can only dream of such customer loyalty and attention to detail a good cycling shop like Condors can offer. Long may this continue! Because it's damn useful!

I agree with the above and have added my comments in another thread under "office" I think it is.
Bern - any update on the Fratellos ?

Is there going to be a new range of bikes compared to what is on your website at the moment?
I am looking at getting a pista or pista EOM, but want to know if any new models will be released and if so the spec and colour scheme.
Thanks.Mañana0 -
Bern,
In your experience (of returns/purchases/supplier and customer feedback), which lock would you recommend for:
a. Day rides (essentially pub rides in Surrey - steering well clear of London!)
b. Parking in Guildford during the day
A Kryptonite NY3000 seems like weight overkill, and I was wondering about cable locks - though these seem to be frowned upon.0 -
pb21,
Yes, the Pista has been updated with new longer cast dropouts and will be available in 3 colours - Black, grey or light blue. The Pista EOM has been dropped and replaced with a new model called Potenza which is like the EOM, but using the new Deda Zero Replica steel with more rounded shape profile tubes and 32mm seat tube for more comfort. Colours are pearl white and gloss black. The guys in the shop are taking orders now. A small batch of Pista frames will be in soon to cover pre-orders plus spares and I have not got confirmed delivery times for the Potenza, but it will be either just before or after New Year. The new brochure is being finished off and should be available soon.
We giving œ50 off any 06 Pista build at the moment.
JW,
Weight is always a problem with locks, but the best locks always tend to weigh a lot as they have to be tough enough. Cable locks can be cut through quiet easily. Chain locks have become more popular recently, but they are not easy to transport although Abus do now produce a frame bag for them.
Abus also make a lock called a Granit Futura. It is a well rated shackle lock and light. Because it has been lightened it's not as strong as similarly priced locks by the same manufacturer. The most popular locks sold are the Abus Granit X-plus 54, Granit Plus 51 and Steel-o-Flex 1000. These can be found on www.zyro.co.uk the u.k importer.BERNIN RUBBER0 -
Helen,
The smallest frame we do is 46cm(centre of bb to top of seat tube) with a 50.3cm top tube(measured horizontally)BERNIN RUBBER0 -
Can my LBS order a Condor cycle at trade price?
Its just that I want a fixed bike and really like the Pista, but I have insurance money from an accident, to spend only at my LBS.Mañana0 -
Bern can you email me directly please? Can't see any contact details on your profile. thanks.

pb21, We are not really set up to sell to the trade fully on all models as there is not enough margin to do so, but we can probably supply your LBS with a frame and build kit at a trade price so they can build it for you as a one-off.
It would be best to get your LBS to contact Grant at the shop(020 7269 6820).
I hope this does not constitute selling via the forum, just passing on the into requested. We will not make a penny on it anyway if we pass it on the help out.
giant man - I would rather not give my email details out. If you email James@condorcycles.com he can forward anything to me.BERNIN RUBBER0 -

Thanks bern, I may ring up myself, just to clarify that it will be possible over the phone (instead of this forum) before I go into my LBS, with the details. Would this be OK?Mañana0 -
That will be fine. Probably better to go for an 06 version at the moment if you need one fast.BERNIN RUBBER0

What is it with this thread? The plug was pulled on the Thorn spacers thread, and on the Omega gone bust thread. However, this extended company advert thread continues unabated.
Cycling Plus, what about starting a forum for companies wishing to advertise their product range so that the know-how thread doesn't end up a customer service center.0 -

In what way is this similar to :-
a thread which existed to mock a certain poster,

Well - I like it.0 -
I think it's far comment to say - if you don't like it, dont come here. Sorry RBSF - but it's all a wee bit Daily Mail.
But then Bern, how much would it cost for one of the best bike shops in the country (which must be clearing a nice profit margin, btw) to sort out it's currently out-dated, unloved site and have a forum on there a la Planet X?!
I don't think there's anything wrong with the principle of what you're doing - but why not do it in a more polished, professional way?
Anyway, just thoughts. And btw, I'm down in the Smoke soon and I'll be getting on a tube bound for Chancery Lane tube first chance I get!
I've got a lot to say, it just doesn't come to me today

Thanks Bobby - It is not the cost of the website that has stopped us from updating it. To be honest we have been getting busier and busier over the past two years with our own brand that that our eye has been off the ball with the website. This is being addressed now and I would like to have a forum on it as I think this is the right thing to do.
Of course, I have got into checking this one and am quite enjoying it when I get the chance. we have recently unearthed a couple of thousand photos from over the past 60 years so I plan to do a lot of history. I will have a look at what others are doing. I have been advised against doing a forum as they can be difficult to control, but I will see if we can do something simple like a questions and answers thing.BERNIN RUBBER0 -
Cool - Perhaps a sort of "message board" where people mail-in questions, and if you think others would merit from the content (which gives you a chance to screen iffy messages), you could post the question and the reply on the board.0

Hi Bern.
When ever I ride my turbo, my bits go a bit numb. Thing is when I get finish riding and get off the bike, i have a raging hard-on. What is the reason for this? and how can I prevent it in future?
