TTTT - Of course, it sounds like you deserve the special Black card reserved only for our top clients.

I see no need for a joining fee, perhaps access to the higher level via ownership of a Condor(existing owners inc.)

Butcher - I have just checked the importers site and 9 speed 28t sprockets are available as a spare, part no. 11F 2805-2, Price œ2.99)

    Bern,
Do you have the frame geometry data for the new Fratello?
I currently ride a 57cm c/c horizontal top tube Condor Italia (c1992)and am particularly intersted in the head tube length as I ride with the bars quite high.
    Thanks

Butcher - Call the shop on 020 7269 6820 and leave your details or let me know now and I will add to our next order.

TR - Our 55cm could be okay for you. It is 55cm from bracket centre to top of seat tube. The top tube has approx 4.5cm slope. The top tube is 55.5cm centre to centre if measured on the horizontal and the head tube(integrated) is 175mm long(add 20mm to get equivilant non-integrated comparison).

Our 58cm has a 57cm top tube and 205mm head tube(integrated) which may be better.

And when will it be ok to come in and order my audax Fondo bern? When will the re-designed forks be with you? Or are you using a different make for now?

You can order any time. The new fork is in production right now and I am hoping they will arrive within the next 2 weeks as the Fratello frames are in the paint shop right now and not far away.

We have to use this specific fork as to use one with less clearance will affect the angles and tyre clearance. The forks will be in stock before the new Fondo. We may have some of the 2006 version in stock with forks, but they will only take 23mm tyres and guards.

Once again, I am very impressed with your energy and commitment to this thread.

I had a very polite and helpful response this week to my original e-mail of last spring. If it wasn't you who replied, Bern, please pass on my thanks to the person (R) who replied.

    Thanks

    No problem,

I don't get a lot of time to go through the various threads as there are so many. I thought at least I could start this one so anyone who wants info or has feedback, both good or bad about Condor can get in touch.

I am glad you got your response, it would have been from our sales manager in the shop.

I have to say that the shop is so busy at the moment that I am suprised anyone can get near a p.c. We are currently trialling a new admin assistant who should be able to help take the pressure off the guys.

  • Ooh, you want to know good things? I bought a custom pista on Friday and have been putting it throught its paces this weekend. It is officially the funnest bike ever! I just can't bring myself to commute on it as it's far too beautiful! Just swapped it from single-speed to fixed and have been grinning like a small child in a sweet shop for the last hour :)

Now how much is a Leggero??? :)

    Hi Bob,

The raked fork would be the Force 4.

E.T.A is not 100% confirmed. I am still waiting delivery of the Paul dropouts from the States. they have assured me that they are on the way. Once they arrive production will not take long. all of the tubesets have been cut and are ready to go. I would like to think they will be here before Christmas, but i will have to do some chasing and let you know.

  • Any update on the Fratello frames - and delivery time for the completed bike ? By the way as I have never used clipless pedles before, I think when I pick the bike up I will bring some ordinary peddles and have you fit them until I can practise in a car park or somewhere. Is that ok ?
  • ta bern, can't wait [:D]

    Hi Richard,

I expected the Fratello frames in the paint shop at the beginning of this week, but they will now arrive there tomorrow. So that frames are not delayed we will now have half of them painted and sent first so it makes back the time. I have been told that they will have been painted in 7 days then allow another 7 days for shipping.

As soon as the Fratello frames arrive here they will be put to the top of the build schedule. The forks have been made now and should arrive just before the frames.

    Bern,
Many thanks for your advice and info.
I called the shop on Monday to buy some new 27x1/8 tyres, and some other low value unusual bits. The very helpful Greg sorted out all my parts, called me back, despite clearly being busy, and even volunteered to have them couriered over to me - Outstanding service.
I discovered from Greg that the Fratello from the show was in store, so zipped in today for a ride, and bought (ordered) one.[:D]
I'd just like to say that because of his help with the low value goods plus conversations with yourself, Ronan and Neil, you've sold me a bike! (OK you're not exactly going to retire on the proceeds). [;)]

I'm very much looking forward to picking it up - The ride was fantastic - Your sales guys should point out the cobbled street just round the back of the shop for those, like me, attempting to decide between an alum. composite and your steel rides.

The fitting was clearly done in an experienced manner.
You have a fantastic product, and a fantastic shop with great staff.

Is there a way of sending you a private message?

Incidentally, the sales chap thought that delivery dates were going to be in early December?

Richard - what spec. did you go for?

    Hi JW,

No problem. Glad to hear you were looked after. It is good service to every customer that we strive for.

For the delivery dates, technically they should be here now, but Italians being Italians(no offence to any Italian) they like to over promise and under deliver so the delivery dates always creep away. I usually have to go over every month to oversee things and get accurate checks. Latest reports puts them at not being far away, hopefully a couple of weeks, but you may have to allow for another 7 days on top because of the orders already placed.

You can send an email to Neil marked to my attention and he will forward it on.

  • One more question bern...

Will you be selling the Fondo frameset separately or will you only sell a complete bike?
    --
If I had a baby elephant signature, I\'d use that.
  • Thanks Bern.

JW - I ordered the Fratello Mirage, I think with 28mm gators. I wish I had taken a copy of the spec sheet actually. I am really looking forward to getting it as I am riding 12 miles each way on an old Ridgeback Liberte hybrid, and I think the frame is too small for me as its giving me lower back ache. Doing my commute from Borehamwood to Kings Cross in about 55 minutes, so hoping to be able to knock a few minutes off that with the new bike.

Thanks Bern - No problem with the wait - All Good Things, as Guinness would say!
Besides, it's too cold to potter down to the cafe and pose [;)]
I feel much more comfortable having this regular source of forum updates on delivery.

I gather you're fitting Tektro calipers to Veloce equipped Frats, and the drop is 60mm on the fork (hence the exclusion of Veloce skel. brakes)? Does that affect pricing?

RE: Messages via Neil - Is that on the usual info@<yourcompany> web address?

Richard: Nice spec. Did you have a decision to make between the Agio and Frat? You going for triple or double chainrings? Is it you that's spec'd the Tubus Vega rear carrier? I'm going for a Tubus Fly (18kg load and 330g weight). You don't hail from Dorset do you by any chance?
  • JW. I decided on the Frat because its steel frame, and will perhaps last me longer, and the fact that the new 07 frame has wider clearances so will take a wider range of tubes with guards. Double chainring I think as on my commute I dont ever use the smallest ring. Cant remember which carrier I specd ! I live in Borehamwood and commute into Kings Cross in London - about 12 miles.

Greenbank - Yes, for œ1,499.99 inc forks and headset

JW - We have to fit the Tektro brakes as Campagnolo do not make a deeper drop to accomodate up to 28mm tyres with guards. We have been asking Campagnolo to do these for years. All of the 07 Fratellos have been priced to include these brakes. We use 2 levels of Tektro and they are certainly good quality. For our costs, they are a touch cheaper than Veloce so this is why we not fit Ultragator tyres as standard on all Fratellos and Carbon seat posts on the Veloce model.

Any useful upgrades to have on the Veloce spec'd bike I'm ordering?

I thought, from my conversation in store yesterday, that the bike came with Hutchinsons as standard - I asked for an upgrade (which if cost+ I'm more than happy to pay for) to Continentals that were suitable for use through the winter - I was recommended GP4s, and having read-up on them last night, asked for the ones with reflective sidewalls; if not available I've asked for GP4 seasons.

Sorry, a bit confused - Does that mean the Veloce spec. comes with an aluminium seat post?
  • bern do you have the assos skull hats in?? in black? the one that can be worn under a helmet??? and also the assos full gloves?

JW - I think our guy may have been thinking of the 2006 version when specing your bike. The 06 version used to come with Hutchinson Quartz, but we have upgraded to the Continental Ultragator or 07. This makes the upcharge to GP4000 less than quoted. I have altered this for you. we have put the ITM Marathon bars on for you with no extra charge.

The Veloce spec now comes with a Carbon post as standard. At this point I should try to sell you all manner of upgrades, but I think it is not neccessary as the Veloce group and finishing kit used represents great value and quality. The GP4000 with reflective side walls is a good idea so I have decided that we will now stock them in the shop. Hopefully will have them for the weekend(25mm only).

Currieinahurry - Yes, we have the Assos skull hats in stock, I believe in Black, Titanium, blue and possibly red. The Assos early winter gloves are in stock now with the Full Glove System arriving in approx 1 weeks time.
