I'd be comparing apples with oranges really as the carbon rims are deeper and I run different tyres.
Unless you want deep or very wide rims then aluminium should be fine and may be more comfortable.
What aluminium rims do you have in mind?

I plan on running 28s, or maybe 30's in the future ,although I'm pretty happy with 28s on all my wheels.
Do you find there is a notable difference between your carbon and alloy wheels when riding? As you say, there is a weight difference but I'm guessing its marginal if using a high end aluminium rim and a middle of the road carbon one?
Its more though about the feel and I guess feedback through the wheel and steel frame. In your experience, would you say there is any real overall gain to be had using one over the other?

Thuoughts on alu rims? Prefer Ambrossio over Mavic and HSon Plus have lasted longer than the Ambrossio while being more aero.
Carbon? No experience.

He is a top bloke, does not try to oversell and even tells you to look elsewhere if what he does is not appropriate for you. I have two sets of wheels from him and they are both superb with over 10000 trouble free miles on them each.
When I've got my weight down a bit more I am going to buy a set of carbon wheels from him.

I do suggest to try Fastop carbon wheels, I have them, too. As the picture, not me not my bike, I saw them from a friend's post. Training wheels also competition wheels! Good, I recommend to my friends all.
