They are a good side but half of the first team are suspended.
I'm not sure either are that frightening. Spain on the other hand....

So the Dutch are getting away with a bit here, and it is all fairly rudimentary in the mixer stuff from Turkey that is causing problems.

The quality of the crosses into the box in the last 5mins has been top class. Shows what pace on the ball does, so many players just aimlessly chip the ball in. Smack it in at head height and it causes carnage.

Nice to see a referee taking centre stage as it should be.

That was a good watch for the 2nd half, not too much pansyball got away with and a fair bit of oh what happens next...

England need to start with two strikers and just get the ball in the box. Holland will score, obviously.

I mostly meant just in regards to tonights viewing but I'm not sure how a flat footed defence would cope with Turkey's induced chaos, regardless of who would have been playing. Anyway, on to next week...

Rematch!

Pickford's water bottle.
Love stuff like this.

Is he now fit?

Over the timescales concerned, this is in fact possible. Did you see that fellow called Shaw come on as well?
Just need Kane to stop playing in wellies now.

He’s easily been England’s best player. Can’t think of a game where he has not been the best England player.
I was reading about the level of abuse and racism abuse he got following the euro final shootout. Really extreme and awful.
Hats off to him. 🫡

He was v quiet in the group stage games, other than the first half of the first game.
Seems to have a good understanding with Mainoo, it is the only consistent first time pass and move that I've seen. But there needs to be a third player willing to do that to break teams down.
Mainoo's first "touch" is his body position, so the ball moves much faster. The contrast watching Walker and Rice is stark.

Ex club team mates will be helping there.

I think Rice has had to adjust his game a little in the absence of Henderson.
0 -
You mean slow things down and pass sideways and backwards? He's certainly filling the Henderson role now.
0 -
Not following. Mainoo has come up through the United youth system.

Was Shaw always as wide as he is tall? Or is that injury layoff development?

Arse. (Me). Got my players muddled up.
Ignore, as usual. 😉

Mourinho had issues with his width. I actually think he's just that shape and has very high natural stamina. He covers a lot of ground when he plays for United.

I've got a suggestion for Wednesday - why not make that change to a "let's try and score" formation/approach a little bit earlier?

To be fair, as the Dutch are quite an open attacking side, he may not have a choice 😉

They've got to outwit England's opening gambit of "get the ball, pass across the back, then again, then again, then to Pickford, pass it out to the defence, across the back, then again, then to Pickford to hoof it".
I was especially impressed when they employed this signature move directly from an England corner in the Switzerland game.

I am hoping we may get quite an end to end game and a good few goals. I don't see England neutralising the Dutch attack (as good as we have been defensively), so we will need to score goals at some point and there is space to exploit and goals to be scored for both sides.

Do think England miss slabhead for set pieces.
Also they need to stop giving Foden the dead balls. Not sure a single one has been put where it needs to be.

I'd still rather have had a fixture against Turkey than Holland.
