Seemingly trivial things that intrigue you

Quite glad we're not going to the Montreux
JazzFestival this year with our youth jazz band. When we did, everything seemed to cost about double what it did in France. (FTR, it doesn't really do much jazz at all now, hence the strike-through.)0 -
It's just an indication of things being higher quality.

Why my coffee tasted weird this morning. Same beans as yesterday, fresh water, nothing else had changed but it had a chemical taste to it and I had to throw it down the sink after a couple of mouthsful.

Any lurgy symptoms? It's not just covid that can change your taste.

Nope, pretty sure it was the coffee itself as everything else tastes normal. The machine made a funny noise whilst grinding the beans and when I opened it up there was a lot of dry ground bean in the filter so something seems to be playing up but not sure why it has made it taste so horrible. I've now stripped it down and cleaned everything so will see if that has sorted it out.

Yes, I got sent to the out of hours GP (kidney stones).

My Dad. At least twice, probably more. One was go to G.P. next day, other was an ambulance and paramedics visit.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Yes - got an appointment time via text I think which was about 2 hours after the 111 phone call.
I was sent to an "out of hours" doctor at local hospital. Got there, sat for about a minute before being called in. He was a crap doctor who misdiagnosed my problem but the system up to the point of sitting down for the appointment worked really well . . . I was nearly impressed.

It's something that annoys me about the NHS. I don't see why going to A&E should be so expensive for the NHS. If they have an effective triage system it should all just work - other than perhaps needing to pay GPs to work out of hours, but I suspect a lot of people just go in the day time anyway.

Biggest issue is not having anywhere for people to move to from the ED. MH services, Frailty services and Social care are all beyond breaking point and don't have the capacity to deal with the flow of patients.

The Red Bull/Horner fiasco takes a turn.
If staff seemingly are causing a problem, just suspend them!
The stink is getting worse.
Not a Red Bull fan and it looks like this season will be a repeat of last year's yawn-fest.
Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

Absolutely standard behaviour btw. Have seen this over and over in my world.
Woman has affair or some sexual altercation with CEO man. Woman gets the sack. Over and over and over.

That sucks.

My last spin session in the corporate hamster wheel included having a Global Director for my sector who was such a thick fucken pr1ck, e.g. sexual harassing female colleagues, employing PAs who were like Barbie dolls with no intelligence, being a total arsehole to all subordinates, etc etc (one of the several drivers for me stepping out of the wheel and doing my own thing instead). Indeed the Global CEO had to step in, allocated him as his PA a much older formidable woman who clearly wasn't his type and also didn't give a F for anything he tried on.
Humans eh.

It happens everywhere. I worked with another male nurse who had a reputation of trying to shag most of the females he came across. A female patient reported he propositioned her(it is illegal under the mental health act to have a sexual relationship with a patient) however she declined make it formal. So the health authority couldn’t take it any further, so they moved him to working with Older adults with dementia with the view that even he wouldn’t try it on with them.
He did get his comeuppance as it turned out he’d married a patient while she was under his care and she later divorced him and reported him. He ended up sacked and struck off.

Every organisation ultimately kills it's young if necessary to survive. No legislation will stop people from acting like c***s. HRs only role is to hoover up costs for 99% of the time achieving nothing, and then clear up the blood after someone has been eviscerated.

Not sure you can assume that this is the case here.

So the story he sent her a picture of his dick has been made up by the media. Do you have insider knowledge that this is not true.

If you have all the facts lets hear them.

My favourite was a well known British insurer; HR Director woman had and affair with the CEO man who she reported to. Got caught on CCTV shagging in the car park.
Board sacked the HRD. Reason given? As she was responsible for comp & bens there was a conflict of interest.

I have a feeling there may be a solution here. Don't shag colleagues.

All I know is what was reported in the media. If this were not true I would have thought he’d be going after them.

People that ride on the drops whilst they slowly grind their way uphill in far too big a gear. Why? Just WHY?

Don't worry I'm sure they're all over LinkedIn and social media today telling the world about all the brilliant things they do for women on International Women's Day (along with every other company).
