A few rider/ team changes...
The Holmgren twins will debut for Lidl-Trek today in Baal, and not Baloise Lions....former team mate, Ian Ackert is now at Trek Future Racing, the development team (where Mitterwallner came from).
Stybar has set up his own team for the rest of the season - as has Felipe Orts Lloret.
And former U23 World Champion, Ryan Kamp who was released by Pauwels-Sauzen; with help from the Roodhooft brothers has put together a programme, using Colnago & Campagnolo.

I'm still surprised that no-one picked up Ryan Kamp. He's a solid rider, with room to develop and improve.

Yes, both Kamp & Orts are visible in many races - so you'd wonder why no teams have shown any interest.
There is always a chance, the Roodhooft's eventually put Kamp on one of their established teams....

Nice battle between Brand and Van Empel again. A real contrast in their strengths makes for interesting racing.

Looks like MvdP totally dominant once again to make it 8/8.
Horribly muddy course. WvA hung on for a little while.

MVDP utterly dominant yet again after toying with Wout for a lap or two. No-one else seems to even be doing the same sport as him at the moment. Disappointing ride by Pidcock after a very promising first lap. Not sure if he was off colour, went too hard on that first lap or just realised he wasn’t getting in the race. Mason did the opposite and pulled back places towards the end.

I haven't yet heard what happened to Pidcock, but as a lightweight rider, a heavy mud course wouldn't suit him....
You'd have thought that Wout would be a lot closer today, as today's course was classic Wout conditions. However MvdP has put nearly 2 mins into Wout.......
MvdP is in supreme form, and Wout is obviously working to later targets, but is still the best of the rest. Another good ride from Ronhaar, who could well be the CX 'heir apparent' when the others finally call time on CX.

Just caught up with Christmas CX. Did MVDP get away Scot free for spitting at the crowd the other day? Surely being booed isn’t an excuse? Commentators etc seem to be in full support, bizarre. A lesser rider would have been penalised, no?

Doesn’t seem to be any confirmation of more than booing apart from someone on twitter/x echoing commentator’s experiences of past events. Oh well, finished with now I guess.

Finally finished catching up with all the CX.
Happiest to see Sanne Cant win a race again.
Saddest to see how far ahead of the pure CXers MvDP is. It was/is beyond impressive but kind of ruined the races. For me at least. Have no enjoyment in watching a race that I know who's going to win it baring a major mechanical and/or crash.

That's a shame, guess that's any potential challenge for a win done for this cx winter season, though having seen the Cafe ride interview, seemed like he was treating it more as a training exercise above all else.
*Arguably if MvdP had turned up there was no chance anyway of course.

Tis true. Fem does the same on the women's side but her recent domination has only been broken by a road crash. The effervescent Puck can at least give her more than a run for her money whereas WvA is not on the form he should be.
Who knows what the form going into the spring classics will be. I just hope those races won't be a Pogacar/MvdP whitewash.
