Are auto-dip headlights going to be a massive pita in the future? I have had a significantly noticeable increase of the number of cars keeping their headlights on high beam for a long time before eventually dipping them and I am actually not convinced it is idiot drivers and more likely auto-dip headlights not picking up a bike light until much later than they would another oncoming car.

The completely OTT way the BBC promote a new series of their successful shows. Strictly is always a prime example but The Traitors is on an even higher level, it even got mentioned on the BBC Wales news who had an interview with one of last year’s contestants. I would also add when the BBC get obsessed with some ‘new’ music act but I’ve had that rant before.

I still haven't quite got to grips with mine, they seem to do a reverse auto dip where they switch to high beam when I'm driving on main beam and the road suddenly gets darker (including driving under a bridge on an otherwise quite well lit 30mph limit near my house).
When driving on high beam I tend to dip before the glare of the oncoming car anyway. If I leave them to it, they seem to do a decent job except of course they need a split second of oncoming headlights to function so possibly a brief dazzle for the oncoming driver.

Mine don't auto-dip high beam. Maybe an inconvenience to flick a lever but as I'm not used to that function anyway...

Personal opinion but I think driving is getting too easy. All auto functions and no thinking on the part of the driver.
I prefer drivers to be fully aware of everything around them, and the consequences of things going wrong.

That's the being aware of the consequences part. Drivers seem to be increasingly only aware of 3m around them.

I got fed up of drivers when out night riding a) not dipping until the last possible moment or b) not dipping at all.

A software fault in my coffee machine means when it declares it needs a cleaning cycle it is impossible to use it before doing said cleaning cycle. Which is pretty involved.

Coffee machines having software is fairly annoying in the first place.

Is it a fault? Mine does the same thing and I assumed it was deliberate. The worst I had for that was a Dyson vacuum cleaner that stopped working when a filter was due for cleaning and then never started working again. Pile of shit.

I like my Bosch vacuum cleaner with an on-off switch and a blue light that tells me when it needs charging.

Similarly, mine popped up message to de-scale (as opposed to cleaning cycle). Followed the book instructions to a T. Machine did everything the book said it would… except reset the de-scale message every time you turn it on. 🙄😡

Fair enough if it's your own coffee machine. Our canteen at work has this sort of machine that unilaterally announces a cleaning cycle that cant be aborted and they don't provide kettles and instant etc. Luckily there are three machines so there's usually at least one in action.

We have a machine in the office with a rather lengthy cleaning cycle. If you don't clean them they get clogged fairly quickly and then need a complete strip down to get them working. Former boss ruined one by not cleaning it.
